Met Barry at an indy show we were on back in the early 2000's. He noticed my shoulders were a little uneven. Good thing he did. I went to the chiropractor right after that and got straightened out. Very nice guy and a lot of fun to chat with. Glad to see you're doing well Barry.

I first saw Barry in my second live event which was at the LA Sports Arena, summer 1987. He was in the opening match with Brady Boone, about a 20 minute bout, and he really put on a great show with a lot of crowd reaction & involvement. Always a fan of Barry's, love the pat on the back!
Woah! When Barry was talking about wrestlers being careful on piledrivers, he mentions Don Muraco. I had totally forgotten that he also used the Tombstone Piledriver as his finisher, but I think he called it something else. Also, Best. Guest. Ever.
@@danielfryer8768 Barry was too smart to ever push himself up the card with his mouth and instead kept a very steady job making it clear he was a company man willing to do what they wanted. Steve Lombardi was the same way if not even more. Steve would clean the toilets if they asked no problem. That is how he kept working for 30 plus years straight for WWE when so many came and went and most of them were way up the card. Barry is a legend because he was not a demanding dick to his employers and coworkers. And whenever he was not signed in his career there was always people ready to sign him because of the same thing. It is not really about those wins and losses either. It is about the impressions you made and whether or not the fans enjoyed and believed what you did. Barry always wrestled very well, always made his matches believable and he made himself enjoyable to see get beat. That carried over to times when they did decide to put Barry over. It made the wins more exciting too. Barry carried so many crappy mid card guys getting pushes to good looking matches it is not even funny. Barry is an all star because he could do everything asked and would. Lots of guys think they are too good for what Barry did and they all have much lesser careers and memories in the fans minds. Barry is one of the guys who are thee man to me because of all his losses.

Barry did ultimately get a small push and made some pay per view matches in the WWF. In other parts of the Country, Barry did make mid-card level and was even Florida State Heavyweight Champion briefly and this was back when State Titles meant something.

I don't think those numbers are legit. I bought protein powder from Mr. Horowitz at GNC off Fowler Avenue in Tampa, Florida back in the mid 2000s. Recognized him instantly, checked the name tag, and marked out a little inside. But on the outside I no sold it, paid for my protein, and left.
I wish there were several individuals involved in the production of WWE today but the ones who are tend to be hired Hollywood people like Gerwitz and them. Which is a stupid thing but it’s WWE and Vince’s “universe “ I would have Jake Roberts, Bret Hart and many others.
Barry would be a great coach. He could wrestle, his stuff was always crisp and the matches were good. He lost all the time, but he was featured on TV nearly every week.

I have listened to a lot of podcasts lately, by far this was the most enjoyable for me. I have always been a HUGE Barry Horowitz fan. I always thought he was under utilized in the WWE/F. I thought he should have had a push a lot sooner in his career with that company. He was just amazing. Great wrestler, great character, phenomenal personality.
This man (Barry Horowitz's) is an absolutely incredible man....I can see why he was loved and hired everywhere...he worked his ass off and never complained and had an extraordinary personality and good heart. He has a wealth of acknowledge and has some real stories. Such a humble and down to earth fella. Please WWE put this man in the Hall Of Fame, or hire him as an agent...for the decades he worked and paving the way for guys like James Hemsworth and other enhancement talent. This man was part of 6 Era's in pro Wrestling and 2 Golden Era's in pro Wrestling... The Rock "N" Wrestling Era 1985-1991) The New Generation Era (1992-1996) The NWO Era 1996-1997) The Attitude Era 1998-2001) The Ruthless Aggression Era 2002-2009) If I'm not mistaken he continued to work in the 2010's. This is amazing...great dude. I would have loved to work with him. What a great interview. I wanna see more interviews with him.

That’s crazy I haven’t seen Barry Horowitz in a very long time and he still looks very young in the face. I thought it was probably the original Barry Horowitz’s son or something when the interview first came on I was like there’s no way this is very Horowitz from back in the day but it is Andy. He’s 64 years old. According to Google he still looks young now that’s crazy.

This was a great interview and I hope we get to hear more from Barry in the future! I loved when he got the big push in WWF, but I really wish they had done it before they did something similar with Sean Waltman, both so it would have meant more and because I really dislike Waltman. I was so confused, though, when they started having Barry go out in the white shirt and thick glasses like he was going to star in Revenge of the Nerds V. I was like, "What are they doing? They are going to ruin this great push!"

36:00 Shamrock’s name in the Carolinas was Vince Torelli, and it was just a made up name. His name legitimately is Ken Shamrock. First time I ever heard it mentioned was a few years ago on an episode of (surprise surprise) Jim Cornette’s (aka the encyclopedia of pro wrestling) podcast.
And he's right, why did guys like Brody and Vader have to kill people like that in the ring with potatoes? Just learn to work properly. "Why does it have to be that way?" sums it up completely
So easy to make fun or belittle these guys especially when a squash match really was a squash match when I was young but then as I grew up and took an interesting in how wrestling worked I started to realise guys like Barry were key. Especially in those days not every wrestler was a former athlete and there was no wwe training centre etc so to get the young talent like a rock tho going the enhancement talent were key. Hacksaw says a lot they are enhancement talent not jobbers and I agree. Also Sean x pac waltman widely regarded by a lot of the biggest wrestlers was technically one of the best said Barry Horowitz was one of the best he’s faced, that’s says lots to me. Respect to Barry, wasn’t the star, didn’t probably make millions but I bet you there’s so many guys that he helped make it. One other point at the beginning Barry says “I have of course neck , sciatic and mild arthritic problems and a bad knee” “of course” these guys be it someone at the very top or enhancement put there bodies on the line in such a big way , honestly my respect for that is immense

So easy to make fun or belittle these guys especially when a squash match really was a squash match when I was young but then as I grew up and took an interesting in how wrestling worked I started to realise guys like Barry were key. Especially in those days not every wrestler was a former athlete and there was no wwe training centre etc so to get the young talent like a rock tho going the enhancement talent were key. Hacksaw says a lot they are enhancement talent not jobbers and I agree. Also Sean x pac waltman widely regarded by a lot of the biggest wrestlers was technically one of the best said Barry Horowitz was one of the best he’s faced, that’s says lots to me. Respect to Barry, wasn’t the star, didn’t probably make millions but I bet you there’s so many guys that he helped make it. One other point at the beginning Barry says “I have of course neck , sciatic and mild arthritic problems and a bad knee” “of course” these guys be it someone at the very top or enhancement put there bodies on the line in such a big way , honestly my respect for that is immense
