Every watch brand has their range through which they get to brag. Finishing, design and movements are all aspects where a watchmaker can shine, and Longines choose to represent their best with the Master Collection - a range of classically styled wristwatches that emulate some of their complicated timepieces from the infancy of the brand, while integrating modern style cues. The case sizes you’ll see in this range are 40mm and 42mm, covering a suitable chunk of average wrist sizes no matter your gender, as the technical nuance and classical elegance defy any narrow categorisation.
The iconic barleycorn dials are still as present as ever, having become something of a Longines Master Collection hallmark, as well as a sumptuous blue sunburst dial that envelops the viewer. No matter which dial you go for, the blue enamel sky on the moonphase complication is a treat to behold, occasionally catching the light and glinting up at you in a way that’s indescribably pretty. For some even prettier videography of these gorgeous watches both front and back, check out Andrew’s review of the Longines Master Collection here.

I think a lot can be said about someone who buys Longines watches. In a world/time where watches are unnecessary and the only brands people notice are the upper elite names...I think owning/wearing a Longines is a very subtle way to show that you appreciate horological history, luxury and class while still retaining a genuine sense of humbleness.
Good points, I will say a wrist watch is still much faster to check then a pocket watch(phone).
Absolutely Nailed it my friend.
Longines is the 4rth most popular watch brand in the world.
I think this opinion has lots of merit.
Certina as well
Like other watch collectors I also have a Master Collection annual calander moon phase chrono. The price for this watch with all of these complications is amazing. Thank you for your video and outlining these watches. Well done!
👍👍👍 🇧🇷
I recently bought an almost unused black dial triple date Moonphase Master Collection 42mm. And I must say, even though I hadn't intended so, I now almost consider it my grail watch. Just everything about it is so beautiful. It really opened my eyes or this incredible brand and their very rich history.
It's kinda like Patek 5270 merged with Omega Speedmaster, but with a 6-9-12 sub-dial layout. And I am usually not a fan of that layout, but Longines somehow did it perfectly!
Rolex don't do complications like moonphase because they only make basic watches. Longines was above Rolex for most of the 20th century until the quartz crisis and now idiots believe Rolex are haute horology when the reality is they a good solid watches hyped up to the heavens. It would be good to see real watchmakers like Longines return to their former glory.
Bought the silver dial moonphase last week as a wedding present for my brother, also bought the ladies watch (similar looks minus the moon phase complication)...both watches look the part. For me the stand out feature is the blue dials and the 3 day power reserve 👌
I have the silver dial. Just think the moon phase window stands out better and I’m an Arabic numerals guy. Beautiful watch and great value for the money.
Longines is the most underrated watch maker.
Thank you for brining this model back to my attention. I am no fan of roman numerals, but this is the only watch with these I would consider. Lovely lovely dial, contrasting white hands, beautiful case and bracelet. Moon-phase complication is just an icing on the cake.
I have the "silver barley corn" version at 40 mm and it is easily one of my favorites. It's perfectly balanced, classy, elegant, and it gets me the most compliments over even my far more expensive watches.
It's the one watch in my collection I can confidently say that I'll never sell.
There's a reason why Longines sells so many watches. Well made, classic, elegant styling and good value. This is a beauty.
I have a 40mm Master Collection moonphase with a silver barleycorn dial on a stainless bracelet. Needless to say, it is stunning.
Thank you for the beautiful video. You made me love Longines watches.
You have to hand it to Longines they make great watches at their price points. The heritage collections are lovely.
Love that collection… I like black then white and blue, sorry y like solid blue, the sun burst dial is not my favorite❤ but I love the JLC blue dial moon face
The 42mm versions are just better. Longines are getting it right with great designs and affordability.
Longines Master Collection Moonphase 😍😍😍😍😍
I just baught this black one and it is better than my Omega Aqua Terra. The bracelet doesn't leave teeth marks. The AT does. The dial is legible in all lighting angles the AT is not. The case shape to bracelet shape flows better. The AT case shape is a bit fat headed. I would choose this over an AT any day. Not to mention the AT has antireflection picks up finger smudge reflections
Excellent!
But you can go swimming with the AT!
Love them all! Silver barleycorn is my favorite because it has the slightly old-fashioned look that I like with moonphases. Like a grandfather clock for your wrist. On the other hand, I prefer the applied logo on the blue-dial rather than painted.
Best Watch of Universe
This is perfection. Also a 7” wrist and the black barley corn 42 would be ideal as black also shrinks the appearance of the watch, that dial with the painted Roman numerals and white vintage styled hands just screams elegant perfection for this style of watch. I’d wear it as an everyday-er 😎
Bought the black dial version(with black strap) yesterday as a Christmas present for myself. I asked about also purchasing the steel bracelet separately as i love the look of both and each have there own flavour which changes the whole look. unfortunately its a 3 month wait to get one in stock......
Sun ray blue is absolutely elegant
0:52 That Longines Yacht packaging is awesome!!!, For what model do they use it?.
The hands are classic Longines. They haven't change even from the 13zn movements.
I too love the master collection. My 1st Swiss is the master collection retrograde with white dial and blue hands. Awesome looking watch. Happy New Year to everyone at Time + Tide Watches.
That black looks stunning
Can't be beat for the price. I have a go pml and I still want it lol
Nice video! Just order black dial with leather. I am curious about the caliber L899.5 in your model. The official site only indicates L899.2 which does not have silicon balance-spring as L899.5. I am confused about which model has L899.5.
What a beauty! Black one is the one! But, i'm sorry to repeat myself always, in 2021 3atm is not acceptable anymore. Tell me that can handle that we wash our hands at least 5 time per day (on the top of when we actually take a bath), how many time we also put sort of soap to clean our hands before step in in a, for example, Longines boutique.. Come on! 5atm is the new minimum!
Sounds like you need a Rolex Deep Sea or an Omega Plopof for your dangerous lifestyle.
@@almac9203 I just need to spend my money wisely, too risky buy a 3atm watch, wear it daily, and hope it can survive many years. 5atm will be fine, anything more than 5atm is more than welcome
A splash of water isn't going to hurt it while washing your hands. Please tell me you don't plan on swimming or showering with a moonphase...
the Moon😈😈😈
I love Longines moon phase watches.
36 to 39 is perfection, classic and modern
What about the Green one that almost looks Black.... Wow ❗
What is the exact model number of this watch ?
How much in dollars these waches I want one
Silver with white dial for me! Gr8 pieces all round. Keep 'em coming T&T....!!
Would you got for leather strap or the stainless steel bracelet like the one in the video ?
Perhaps a steel bracelet and then change it to an aftermarket leather strap. Because once you've brought the watch, you can never get the branded steel bracelet. The leather one is, over the years, a replaceable item.
What is the lug-to-lug for the 40mm?
That movement wall is incredible.
Longines are on it with these complications and price point.
A tad too large for my taste
I have a Longines Heritage Diver Chronograph in my watch box and love it.
What a beautiful watch, other than the overly large bold text on the case back of this “THE LONGINES MASTER COLLECTION” (Petty complaint i know…) 😬
I’m with you on the black barley corn dial. 😍
Where is Felix?
I’d get this if not for the poor proportions
Not a fan of roman numerals.
But worse is that this @longines has the number 4, miswritten
The Roman's did it that way on their sun dials.
Longines used to make good watches but I have two in the master collection that have crashed and burned within three years. Total waste of money.
They simply will not last as a daily wear watch and the time keeping isn't that impressive either.
Save your money, this brand is simply grossly overrated.
Which ones do you have?
My first Longines was purchased 20 years ago and remains superb. I bought the 1832 today and am thrilled. A very happy boy😊
I like what Longines is doing these days, and strongly prefer when they don't include the logo on the dial. Looks too reminiscent of the Third Reich eagle, something i can't unsee.
Except the Longines logo is much older than the Nazi eagle.
3rd Reich eagle looks really stylish though
Can anybody please offer to help Longines on how to make watches above 30m water resistance?
How often do you go diving with your dress watch? If you need more water resistance there is a recent invention called a dive watch.
I agree with you, gmshadowtraders. 30m WR means that you can't even take a shower without risking your watch. Would be great to have 100m on this watch.
@@gurkankiziltan9429 Why on earth would you want to shower wearing a dress watch?
Longines dive watches have 300M WR. When was the last time you went diving in a dress watch?
@@GTRxMan Why would I want to take it off?
