Indian Summer - Angry Son

- In the stone heart of an angry son, an angry son who has done his swallowing, his memories are bitten pills, so many bitten pills that he has collected.
The broken ground he now moves on, this ground so unsettled, so endlessly unsettled.
On the way to the sunken earth, and still he moves on
This is earth
Has moved on and collected, settled to his own liking, and still he moves on
A voice in the back of his head reminding him that this is stolen, that this is not his
All these moments, all these precious time spent moments in gravity
All this anxious waiting, all this time spent waiting.
All this pain that you know,
All this pain that you know,
All this pain that you will ever know
In waking hours, time spent in this moment
though he is living, silently in moments, and forgiving relevance.
It is in his heart he is holding and calling behind sadness of empty fields. it is in these moments of time well spent
In these moments of gravity, this time well spent, a look to heaven, sighing tears of angel's and a night sky
Racing, racing,
yelling softly,
this is the moment,
this is the moment,
a look to heaven,
sighing tears of angel's and a night sky,
this is the moment
Holding moments and forgiving relevance
It is in his heart
he is holding and calling behind sadness of empty fields.
it is in these moments of time well spent
In these moments of gravity,
This time well spent,
A look to heaven,
Sighing tears of angel's and a night sky. - Видеоклипы
I remember crying myself to sleep listening to this in 1994 when my father walked out on my family and left us with a pile of bills and so much heartache. Wherever you’re Dad, although to me you died in 1994… I am more the man than you ever were.

I remember listening to this on MySpace and conversing with the lead singer and him sending me this album in the mail. It makes me happy to see that some younger people like this and appreciate it. It really is one of the most moving songs I've ever heard.
you;re shitting me
Did he send it to you on a CD or was it the actual physical copy that you could buy from their website. That could be worth a decent chunk of change someday..

Shut up. I'm not crying. You're crying. 😢
Guys this is really really nice and easy to play on guitar, especially the chorus part. Believe me and it feels amazing.

Mineral, Indian Summer, and Sunny Day Real Estate are the figureheads of their respective scene(s) imo
Agreed

This is an "emo" classic. Absolutely chilling and powerful song.
After all these years I still think this is one of my favorite songs. It never gets old.

Angry Son is genuinely one of the best songs of all time and for me personally definitely the best. fuck.
currently bawling my eyes out to this song. i needed that
if you care about genres, you are possibly missing the point.
one of the most personal, heartfelt bands i have ever seen live(with Current, who still rock my world)...
this music will always bring to mind a place and time before all of "this". where once you dropped in, one was connected and started to live and breathe.
you drove to a "foreign town" on the promise that a show would happen and just knew that kids would point you towards food and shelter and books and anything else you might happen to need.
...hardcore was/is Indian Summer and Dystopia and Nausea and Los Crudos and Assuck and Jihad and Three Studies for a Cruxicifiction and Chokehold and .....
Get it?!?
this was more than music, folks.
dude that sounds fucking amazing
exactly.
+Clifford Kost I totally agree with you. I think I was lucky to see them about 3 times in '94 and that I saw them together with Current and Mohinder at Gilman Street in Berkely at the time. I still have photos of the show. :)
One of the best emocore songs ever produced!! I know that Indian Summer had a hard time to be understood at the time (mid 90's). Now their songs shine like they have never before and are purely gems! I was lucky to see them live a couple of times and they were life changing to say the least!! :)
holy shit i'm so jealous. If i could time travel i would go back to see Indian summer :')
Topper Harley I still get goosebumps, everytime I hear this song. I would come along on your time travel! :) I was lucky to see them three times back in '94 at Gilman Street, Berkeley.
Fuck dude, I wish I was around during that time.

Very well said. I only wish I could have seen them. This music has the power to change lives and that's incredible
is called emotional hardcore not emocore beforer emocore was
Man I’m from chile and 32 right now. I still remember the first time I listened to this song as it truly defined my music taste
this song can make me cry without fail literally just from the intro

you can literally hear the Fugazi influence.
Early emo was fantastic before it got commercialized.

Rites Of Spring vibes
I read they also liked Bedhead and Unwound.
Mending, slowly, all wounds,
Effortlessly, as the burden of his sunken child is lifted but effortlessly again carried,
Faintly to the stone heart of an angry son,
An angry son who has done his
Swallowing, his memories are bitten pills
So many bitten pills that he has collected,
Like the fallen pieces of the broken ground which he now moves on
This ground so unsettled, so endlessly unsettled,
He recounted with the weight of the sunken earth
And still he moves on

Earth which he has moved on and collected, settled to his own liking
And still he moves on

Correndo, correndo, gritando suavemente: ''Esse é o momento.
Eles não me conhecem
É difícil dizer
Eles não me conhecem
Este é o próximo último momento

Fucking insane how ahead of their time these guys were
I used to listened to this song in high school a lot
Look up the band Slint.
lol
Definitely took influence
i don’t think i will.
I recently moved to a new place. At the old house, I did not have storage set up for CDs and vinyl. The new place has ample space. As I was unboxing albums and putting them on the racks, I came across the re-released discography and the KZSU live performance. So, at work, I just had to hear this song again. No music service had it. Thanks for posting.
love listen to this song when walking ty school on the mornings!
Amazing. hope life still finds you well
omg, the emo sweater+collared shirt combo. grandpas got copped back then lol
Such a spectacular song 🤟
A popular preppy blonde girl in a pink jacket showed me this band

indoom666 that literally happens all the time, I saw cut marks on one of the most externally happy girls at my old school. Obviously I talked to her and tried my best to help but I suppose it wasn’t enough
Goosebumps
Song really connected with me as a kid. Lost my brother to a terminal illness and one of my best friends to a police shooting. This song encapsulated what I felt as a kid. Anger, angst, sorrow.
One of my absolute favorites. My first love got me into emo hardcore, life changed forever.
this is what I consider a jewel rare and utterly priceless
first time i head this track, was on a mix tape around 2000-2001, fucking changed my life (was like 17-18 at the time), i was introduced to this whole world of the late 80's early 90's underground emo/hardcore movement. just feels more special to get into a genre that is still relatively unknown to many.
Thanks for the comfort
Simply relaxing. 🖤
love this song the first time i came across it!

Forget about the labels, enjoy the music..
We'red all the good music go?? This is part of what we have left now
good music still exists, its just very underground. Check out Saetia, they're Screamo, which is what Indian summer started I guess. At the time, no one knew who these dudes were.
If you like Aussie Punk, that scene is really active and big rn. Look up Skegss, violent Soho, Idles (British band), etc.

I was binge listening to beat happening’s Indian summer on Spotify and one of my Spotify friends jammed to this band and this was how I found them.
Indian summer is actually a phrase referring to weather lol
I feel that there is way to much comparison between bands in the emo music community.
Zek yes, they are all different in a way
