Very rare akane's gorilla's kiss to envoke her drum gods to show her dominance just before her solo also kanami's ultimate saiki salute you guys were very lucky to see both in one show simply amazing

This song ROCKS LIVE! The crowd always goes nuts. (I did)
Not sure where you plan to go next, but there are plenty of sonic surprises in Band Maid’s catalog.
“Freedom” is definitely an example of their more accessible, pop rock, crowd participation style (i.e. “Domination”)
Please consider these notes as you fall further down the pigeonhole:
“Rinne/Reincarnation” downtuned, dark, grungy and still melodic. The Maids in full “metal-mode.” Try to watch the excellent fancam with Miku’s helicopter pigtails
“Manners” Catchy En Vogue chorus riff. (Do you even remember them? “Free Your Mind”)
    Funky and complex, unusual.
“Onset,” another of their four instrumentals. Completely unrelated to “From Now On” with time signature switches and a Rush meets U2 vibe. MISA solos through a cloud of smoke also is a highlight.
And if somehow you can get the inimitable Lord Roger Chance on your show, you’ll likely break the internet.

Akane is not only one of the very best drummers on Earth, she's the happiest too! I think FREEDOM was the first song that Miku, the founder and rhythm guitarist, wrote the lyrics for. I could be wrong but I think that's correct. She was still being encouraged to sing by her guitar-sensei, Kanami.

And this is where you hear MISA playing her "Lead" Bass line. Which has become a large part of the Band-Maid sound. When the band first started, Miku couldn't play guitar, yet the label wanted to have another guitarist for "Optics". So for a few months, that is all Miku did besides sing, was to hold a guitar as a prop. It took Akane stepping up and saying, that if Miku was going to hold a guitar, she NEEDED to learn how to play it. So Miku said Ok, and Kanami started to teach her to play. To cover for Miku's lack of a guitar though, MISA was asked to step in and cover the areas that Miku's guitar SHOULD have been. Hence why Band-Maid has such a heavy driving bass sound to this day. If you listen, on many of the earlier releases, Miku's guitar takes over the bass line, while Kanami and MISA play leads, tying in to Akane's kick drum. As their music and Miku's skill progresses, Miku takes on more of the true rhythm guitarist role, yet their sound became so well known for the driving bass lines of MISA, they kept it up to this day.
So while Miku's playing now includes some lead lines, she on occasion will drop back in to cover MISA's role, while MISA allows her fingers to wander the fretboard.
    Giving us the "Band-Maid" sound.

In about a week and a half, we "may" get 2024 tour announcements at the end of their 26 Nov tour finale. That's their usual M.O. for announcements. Doubts about US this time as they need to return to the EU soon, but ya never know. Wasn't expecting them back in 23, but we got em in May and Aug. They will tour, it's just where. Also, don't think you've checked out Nemophila yet. Check out their new official live version of Zen. You'll love it. Promise

They play this song a lot still, even though it was written by Ichiro Iguchi (lyrics by Kobato, though) for their third EP "Brand New Maid." That's probably why it has a bit of a poppier sound but the way they play it gets the crowd hyped and they like it. Per Wikipedia; the Japanese magazine J-Generation noted that the album was "bigger, tougher, deeper" than the band's previous releases and that it "...proves Band-Maid’s ready to crush any protests that their cute persona disqualifies them from the "real rock" club.[7]

Every time I watch this video I'm always amazed when I pick up yet another unreal fill from Akane, though I shouldn't really be amazed by this point in time. Where was she before Miku started the ball rolling ?? Her talent is undeniable. There is a documentary put together by a reactor named Ohrenje who has a lot of access to the band that pretty much tells the entire crazy story of how Band Maid came together. How Kanami knew Akane and also knew of Misa and worked together in other projects before Miku came a' knockin'. The Kismet and serendipity involved and how they turned into the powerhouse that they have become is the stuff of legends. I don't know if you already heard this, but when they were playing in Tokyo, Jimmy Page came to see them and sent a note backstage asking to meet Akane. She thought she was being punked but went out anyway and was stunned to see Jimmy Page in the flesh. He also told Akane that he thought she was the reincarnation of John Bonham. There are pictures out there of Akane and the band with him and it was so cool to see her face. I'm 76 and have been following rock since the late 1950's and when I found Band Maid a couple of years ago when I was reintroduced to the Japanese music scene after along hiatus after I got involved after seeing The 5, 6, 7, 8's in Kill Bill and then found Show-Ya. It was really great to see Japanese groups, especially the all-female bands, keeping the traditions of good rock and metal alive. And when I really started concentrating on Akane, I realized that she reminded me in some ways of Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich in their heydays. As I said before her fills are just perfection and she always comes up with yet another beautiful fill. There must be something in the water over there with all these excellent female guitar, bass and drum prodigies. It seems like every one of those bands has an excellent set of musicians with more and more youngsters coming up in the ranks. And its not just rock or metal, the jazz/funk scene in Tokyo has an astounding number of female virtuosos in all phases, guitar, bass, brass, keyboards, percussion and even some traditional Japanese instruments in the mix. You guys do a great job with your reactions. If you are interested, there is another great group over there named Glim Spanky, which has been together since high school days and play classic blues rock and some of the psychadelic music of the 1960's. Their inspiration was The Beatles and they use a lot of their styles with enough of their own takes so they aren't just a cover band. If you are interested, check out their performance in their 2020 Live RUclips concert of a song named Circle of Time. You will NOT be disappointed. Another great song is Breaking Down Blues and they did an amazing cover of Janis Joplin's Move Over. The vocalist, Remi Matsuo has a great voice with traces of Janis, Grace Slick and Bonnie Raitt. Her song By Myself Again sounds so country and western it's unreal. Thanks again and keep those reactions coming.

Just to point out Ohrenje doesn't have any access to the band. He is a fan from France. All the info in the video's has been collected from what the ladies have said over the years in interviews and various online accounts (twitter etc). And he has done an absolute great job! Those documentaries are golden!
And while Jimmy Page did meet Akane backstage after a show what he said to her has never been known. The Bonham quote is a myth that keeps getting repeated. All we have is Akane's original tweet and the photo. Just want to clear that one up.

@@Davey-Boyd You are always going to find things like that when it comes to a true global sensation like Band Maid. I heard from a friend that lives in England and he said the fans there were really pissed off that BM came to the US in 2023 and not Europe, so I think that could be their next big tour. I've also heard that BM has more rabid fans outside of Japan than in the country. Another funny one that seems to have some credence is that Miku might be the biggest drinker in the group and loves to go to the track and bet on the ponies. In an interview, Saiki and Kanami said that Miku likes to eat "old man" snacks like dried fish and it stinks, lol. You never really know what's true or false. But it's fun to hear this stuff.
