In fact the reference of no one, being in his tree actually refers to a literal tree in the back of his yard that he used to climb over to go into the orphanage to play with the kids. And all too often the live versions suffer from various problems, whether it's technical or performance related.
The other example of Beatles' heavy metal is I Want You (She's so Heavy), from Abbey Road album. Something is rotten in Denmark. You already reacted to the Beatles studio version of this a while back. On both reactions you act as if it's your first time hearing helter skelter. This reeks of dishonestly and/or sneakiness. I'm a big fan of your channel but this could be a deal breaker for me, unless a reasonable explanation is forthcoming.
Yeah, I'm with everybody else. If you listen to the White Album version you will truly appreciate the idea that they birthed a new sound that would launch many bands. The sound in this version, and Paul's vocals don't bring the same heat.
U2 covered this and the great line Bono came up with before they started..."Charles Manson stole this song and we are going stealing it back" !!! Saw it live and a wonderful tribute to the song and the band.
That version of Helter skelter wasn’t the Beatles. You have to hear the Beatles version from the white album remastered. That was Paul McCartney with other musicians way after the Beatles broke up.
Ooof. Please redo this, with the actual Beatles version lol. PLEASE🙏🏼. Choosing the studio version of a song is always a safe bet 😊. I thought for a second Amber had realized at the end that it WASNT in fact The Beatles, but McCartney with his band lol. And Jordan praising Ringo and George 😂. Wasn’t what I was hoping for but still great content.
Listen to Nowhere Man. My friend Craig just passed away on Christmas. It was his favorite Beatles song and The Beatles were his favorite band. He used to follow them to concerts in the sixties. He was quite great on guitar and would play Nowhere Man on his acoustic guitar and sing Nowhere Man at the same time. He was great!
I was so excited. Now I'm so disappointed. This wasn't The Beatles, it's Paul only!!! Please do the studio version to get the true effect of the song. (and don't wait 6 months)
In 1967 Paul read an interview Pete Townshend (The Who) gave in which he claimed to have written the loudest, rawest, dirtiest song the Who had ever recorded. Without even hearing it McCartney said he wanted to write a song with "the most raucous vocal, the loudest drums" to compete with Townsend's new track resulting in "Helter Skelter". After hearing the song "I Can See For Miles" Paul said "I heard their record and it was quite straight, and it was very sort of sophisticated. It wasn't rough and screaming and tape echo at all.".
This was Paul's rocker from the White Album. You should listen to John's answer from the same album, Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey
You've definitely got a lot of comments telling you to check out the actual Beatles version, as this is Paul live with his backing band, so I'm going to try to give you a few different suggestions. 1: Revolution (not Revolution 9 or 1) is another hard-hitting Beatles song. 2: Boys is a good example of an early Ringo lead vocal. 3: Yellow Submarine is a must-listen. It's also specifically a kids' song, so I don't know if you want to get the kids involved in this? 4: Octopus' Garden is a good example of a late Ringo lead vocal. It's also one of two songs by the Beatles with sole writing credits to Ringo Starr. 5: Love Me Do is the bands first single (b/w P.S I Love You). 6: It might be fun to react to both the Beatles and Stones versions of I Wanna Be Your Man. It's a Lennon/McCartney track that was written originally for the Stones, and then released on With The Beatles. 7: Tomorrow Never Knows. 8: Sgt Pepper's Reprise/A Day In The Life (two tracks, one runs straight into the other) 9: Blue Jay Way is a really good Harrison track. 10: Hey bulldog is also another hard-hitting Beatles song.
A lot of later rock bands have covered this song because it was so influential as one of the earliest examples of what would become metal. I remember seeing bands from all kinds of sub-genres of rock like Motley Crue, U2 and Soundgarden cover it.
This isn't The Beatles. This is Paul McCartney on stage with his band recently. In the studio version he hits notes he can't hit now. You really need to revisit this and listen to the proper version, it's way better.
I am the thousandth person to say this but you have to do the original from the White Album. The song was truly shocking at that time but us fans loved it!
There's nothing better than The Beatles... no chance to happen again... something incredible what they made in few years... people who won't get to this in their life don't have a clue what they have missed, I love them! I am so happy that I saw Paul's show once... I pray I will have 1 more chance... the feeling when the 2,5 hour show ended was just why he haven't played so many songs I would have loved to hear... amazing :-)
I knew immediately that this was Paul later in his solo career. We saw him in 1990 which as far as I know and from what he said is the first toured where he started playing old Beatle tunes. I think the tour started in1989. Tripping The Life Fantastic tour (I gave away my tee shirt from it about 7 yrs ago).
It’s all about the time line of when the songs were made in the Beatles span. Their songs represent the phases that the band and the individuals went through! Peace
The big thing for me is not just how the Beatles could go heavy metal when they chose to, but how they did it waaay ahead of other musicians back in 1968. This song, on their "White Album", was just a year after Sgt. Pepper.
Led Zeppelin were already formed and playing Dazed and Confused and Communication Breakdown live to the public at the time Helter Skelter was being recorded. Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones played on Becks Bolero TWO AND A HALF YEARS before. Jimmy Page would be surprised to know The Beatles did it before him 😂.
For some reason I thought of “I Am The Walrus” when you mentioned how intense this song was. It wasn’t necessarily intense, but it was controversial. I think it was banned in London for a period because of the line “You’ve been a naughty girl, you let your knickers down.” That or they thought about banning it because it was a very risqué line at the time the song was released.

Other hard rocking songs that I love are "Paperback Writer", "Taxman", and "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band" (I love the reprise). So many more...
It’s not that deep, bro. It’s a RUclips reaction channel. Go cry more.
There a tons of reactions. Just block this channel and move on. I am.
Yeah, I'm with everybody else. If you listen to the White Album version you will truly appreciate the idea that they birthed a new sound that would launch many bands. The sound in this version, and Paul's vocals don't bring the same heat.
What new sound?
Led Zeppelin were already formed and touring at the time Helter Skelter was being recorded.
Paul McCartney only wrote this song because he was trying to write a heavier song than the who’s (Pete townshed) I can see for miles.
The Beatles can do anything. Only a few hundred to go!
This song bangs hard and it was fun to play on the Beatles Rockband
This was Paul doing this song AFTER the Beatles had broken up. Go to the White Album to hear the Beatles original version of this song!
This McCartney stage version came about 40 years after the Beatles original.
Nice cover by this guy. Give me the Beatles Now.
The concert footage at the end of the video is the concert that this audio is from.
You would think that would have clued them in.
I was so excited. Now I'm so disappointed. This wasn't The Beatles, it's Paul only!!! Please do the studio version to get the true effect of the song. (and don't wait 6 months)
This is the song that Charlie Manson claimed the Beatles for talking to him and telling him to kill.
Great song, not much of an "answer", though.
8: Sgt Pepper's Reprise/A Day In The Life (two tracks, one runs straight into the other)
9: Blue Jay Way is a really good Harrison track.
10: Hey bulldog is also another hard-hitting Beatles song.
They can do anything.
A lot of later rock bands have covered this song because it was so influential as one of the earliest examples of what would become metal. I remember seeing bands from all kinds of sub-genres of rock like Motley Crue, U2 and Soundgarden cover it.
Yup....WRONG version guys...try this again...White Album version please! Love your channel.
This isn't The Beatles. This is Paul McCartney on stage with his band recently. In the studio version he hits notes he can't hit now. You really need to revisit this and listen to the proper version, it's way better.
This is what we call a “drug period” lol
I am the thousandth person to say this but you have to do the original from the White Album. The song was truly shocking at that time but us fans loved it!
There's nothing better than The Beatles... no chance to happen again... something incredible what they made in few years... people who won't get to this in their life don't have a clue what they have missed, I love them! I am so happy that I saw Paul's show once... I pray I will have 1 more chance... the feeling when the 2,5 hour show ended was just why he haven't played so many songs I would have loved to hear... amazing :-)
Arguably the first ever heavy metal song
I agree. McCartney shreds the vocals on the album version. It's incredible! Gotta listen to the album version please 🎼
Paul played some Beatles tunes when Wings toured in 1976--but not as many.
You really didn't hear the Beatles doing the song, you heard A Beatle and some other folks doing the song.
Apparently this was the first song that both Siouxsie & The Banshees and U2 learned to play together. Both recorded versions.
Darn, This was the wrong one.
I've been waiting for this one!!!
