      Surfaced Studio Oddly enough, just in the last month (March 31) we had a discussion on the Hitfilm forum on morphing--I suggested bezier warp. This is a fantastic tutorial, up to your usual high standards. Great presentation.
      For Hitfilm Pro users, Puppet Warp could also be an option, either instead of, or in conjunction with Bezier Warp. (Of course, with Puppet Warp coded, half the work for Liquify or a dedicated Morph is done--tesselation is done.
      So. Can I guess Celina handed you toast and you just patched the wall and did a quick roto/animation for the pop up? Nice way to end the intro!

      Yes, it certainly did. Up until Tobias' excellent tut, Bezier Warp was just a fancy term I had read about in the forum and of which I had absolutely no understanding...well most of the warps, truth to tell only recently playing with sphere and polar on my own. Nothing like seeing its use in practice to illuminate things.

    Just loading my laptop vesion, I do mostof my work on a i7 PC I started in making imovies back in 1961 on a Bell & Howell Fix focus lens stadard 8mm camcorder. I will record the talk I am makitng tomorrow and send it to you. I have had many editing programs over the years, and this is the best I have experienced. The challenge is the educasional learning by those that have took a degee. I leaned through trial and error. Back in 1957 you only went to univercity if your dad had a lot of money . I was ony 3 when he died in the war. Yes I am getting old now 76years . But THANK YOU. you have given me a new lease of life , and a new challenge to make better movies .
    Please keep me in your up date list.

    That is sick! Perfection. So many details. And yes, it needs to be perfect to look natural! I wouldn't have been surprised if you would have also tilted and skewed the lightning reflection (because perfect mirroring happens only if the camera is on the same plane as the table but the angles were negligible in this case, yes).
    Under 0.5% of people can do that, despite this tutorial.

    Great stuff as always, Toby! Nice to see you over on the HitFilm channel. Just a couple of bonus tips:
    1. You can jump to key frames by double-clicking the keyframe diamond.
    2. Rather than saving out a single frame for the clean plates and other elements just shoot enough steady footage; that way you'll automatically have exactly the right noise level and it'll save you a couple of steps.
    Keep up the good work! :)

    • @SurfacedStudio
      @SurfacedStudio 6 лет назад

      Thanks Carl :) And yes, both good points! The trick with enough steady footage for the cereal box was though that it gets exchanged very quickly for a toaster, but you are totally right - that would have removed the problem with the noise. And I didn't even know you could double click on the keyframe diamonds to jump to it :)

    Hello! Is there morphing interpolation between frames during frame rate change? Like optical flow in davinci.

  • @xizar0rg
    @xizar0rg 6 лет назад +1

    Could you discuss how to add shadows from the lightning cast by the morphed object, as well as a basic shadow of the same from the ambient room lighting?

    • @SurfacedStudio
      @SurfacedStudio 6 лет назад +1

      You can pre-compose the morphing objects, desaturate the layer, darken it and then blur it out to create a 'shadow' for the objects. You can then distort it if you need and make it a little transparent to place a fake shadow in your scene. Finally, animate the opacity to match the lightning flicker and it should work out quite nice :)

    • @HitfilmUniversity
      @HitfilmUniversity 6 лет назад

      An alternative would be to mask out the reflections on the table (use the PNGs) and repeat the morph steps on the masked reflections.

  • @abbez4888
    @abbez4888 3 года назад

    Hey! In that tutorial it doesn't signify, that the opacity lowers between change, but I have very vivid background, and in one moment the opacities are 50 and 50, so my background shows off? Is there any ways to fix it, to lodge the object colors while changing?

    Maybe focus on the objects' table reflections before adding lightning and all that. Would also be nice if there was a way to perfectly match all the points for the morph to be perfect. But anyways, great stuff!

    • @HitfilmUniversity
      @HitfilmUniversity 6 лет назад

      Philafxs well, the table reflection would be... More layers masking and morphing the existing reflections to match. Repeat prior steps. Rather than repeat himself, I think Tobias chose to move on.

    • @Philafxs
      @Philafxs 6 лет назад

      Surely, but that doesn't mean it should be left completely unmentioned (especially since he does mention the reflective table surface and did the other things with it). Also, it would be interesting to see his approach on working with only part of an object (or its reflection in this case) to morph, which means that morphing and shrinking the box's reflection wouldn't work. Perhaps one would be better off recreating the reflections by altering clones of the objects, etc. So there is plenty of information missing in that area. ;-)

    • @HitfilmUniversity
      @HitfilmUniversity 6 лет назад

      Philafxs True, but, this particular channel has time/format restrictions set by FXHOME creators have to follow. We have to pick and choose. The hope is that the viewer will get the principles and start to experiment. Or adapt the principles. You've already had good ideas. I just had another. I'd probably move the morph layers to an embedded composite shot, and, in the main comp, change its vertical scale to -100%, position,, mask, blur, reduce opacity.
      I happened to do last weeks tutorial, and I had to throw out so much information and simplify so many steps... I cut that sucker to the breaking point. Great effect, ultimately too ambitious for this format. Next time, I'm pitching a title. Lol.

    • @Philafxs
      @Philafxs 6 лет назад

      Very true. I honestly thought this video went way more "overboard" then other tutorials (both guest and in-house ones). Possibly could've been a 2-part, one focussing on the morphing and then another on the jedi power lightning and glow stuff.

  • @GaryTurbo
    @GaryTurbo 6 лет назад +1

    Would that work with actors? I'm going to use this on my Mortal Kombat trailer

    • @FXhome
      @FXhome  6 лет назад +2

      It would definitely take a little more tweaking that this but it's certainly possible. Make sure you lock the camera in place for the shot and get a clean plate :) Green screening the actors could also be very useful :)
      - Oli (HitFilm Staff)

    • @HitfilmUniversity
      @HitfilmUniversity 6 лет назад

      Bezier Warp works by deforming a rectangular frame. Besides greenscreen, you'll want to pre-key your actors in a Composite Shot. It might be smarter to move both actors into their own comp and morph them before putting them over the background. Because Bezier Warp modifies a rectangle, you don't want your actors moving. If you try this on someone running, it's gonna be a nightmare.
      If you have Pro, learn the Puppet tool. That deforms around points, and, combined with the Bezier Warp, you can get far more control.

    • @FXhome
      @FXhome  6 лет назад

      This is not the case. In the latest version of HitFilm Express we actually added a large number of effects for users. It sounds like your installation may have gone wrong, we'll need to take a closer too to determine the cause. Please contact technical support directly: fxhome.com/ask

    Hi Oli, I've seen videos where one clip morphs into another in the form of a video transition. Is this possible in HE? Thanks.

    Supporting notes:
    Download Morph_Tutorial_Project.zip is 103MB
    The docs for bezier warp are a little sparse[1] though tutorials about after effects bezier warp are similar. Still a good opportunity for someone to make a hitfilm specific tool tutorial. Bonus points for organic shapes, text, or a the much desired person|face shapechange|morph[2].
    Hitfilm epic has a tutorial on manually morphing shapes ruclips.net/video/QZWVG_5Pszc/видео.html

      You can also export a Composite Shot by right-clicking in the media pool and selecting Save As. Composite Shots can be imported into other projects with the Import Composite Shot menu.
      Import Composite Shot csn also load any/all Composite Shots from one project into another. So you can not only save effects chain like Javert mentioned, but create your own template projects.

      This is a really awesome effect, we'll have to do some research and get back to you. It looks like this may require the use of the Projector inside HitFilm which is a Pro-only feature.

    hello
    I have a terrible doubt about some hidden features when someone is buying your software
    I do love hitfilm and I would love to buy it BUT I have a terrible doubt and I want you to answer my question please
    I was reading on the web about some hidden features when someone's buying the software
    like for example, there's no borisFX and no Mocha as well
    so... that makes no sense, is that an issue ?
    because in your web site version 7.1 says no more issue about borisFX and a lot of people are having that issue YET
    I want to buy your software but... any solution ?
    they say delete boris folder and re-install but downloading it oneself apart, that's not correct
    please tell me what to do and how to fix that issue

    • @FXhome
      @FXhome  6 лет назад +1

      Hi, I'm sorry I don't quite understand the question but I can assure you that if you do purchase HitFilm Pro you get Boris 3D Objects and Mocha HitFilm. These can also be purchased as add-on packs for HitFilm Express. If you're having any trouble with these at all please do contact the technical support team here: hitfilm.com/ask
      You're also welcome to test the HitFilm Pro demo which comes with everything you'd get with HitFilm Pro, the only limitation is that you can't export: hitfilm.com/hitfilm-pro/demo

    • @BrilliantPureGold
      @BrilliantPureGold 6 лет назад

      HitFilm
      I did understand oli but you must add boris and mocha in the demo version as well
      why boris and mocha aren't in the demo ?
      anyway I'll give it a try indeed
      thank you oli and please try to add boris and mocha in demo mode, that would be awesome indeed
      hugs and thanks again
      kind regards
      long live hitfilm ;)

      If you’re looking to roto in Express, without purchasing the mocha add-on, you’ll have to animate masks manually, mostly frame by frame. Here are a couple of tutorials on how to do that in HitFilm:
