When Beni makes his way to the banana mountain, it's one of the cutest/funniest things I've ever seen. There is clearly something in his genetics that makes him constantly ravenous
@@CaraTheStrange That's a lie. @ 4:12 they tell his background story. They clearly said that they found him climbing a cell phone tower by himself. Then they said that the people who found him said that he already had a love for bananas and guava. When did they ever say that he was starving? Beni is just lazy. While the others are practicing their climbing and forest school lessons, he sits under the tree trying to scheme and manipulate those people into giving him more than everybody else. That's why that tree fell on him. Had he been in the tree, where he belongs, it wouldn't have fallen on him but instead, he was sitting on the ground sulking because those sitters wouldn't give him more food.
@@arimasmemphis4061 It is to the advantage of these fraudulent, incompetent and unqualified "vets" and "rescuers" to keep these animals dependent on them so that they can keep them in captivity as long as possible. @@ZekeThePlumber86 Orangutans and Bonobos. Both have great potential, if not made extinct, to become the second species on this planet to develop cognitive speech / high level reasoning.
Honestly... the zoo in my city has orangutans, and I don't even want to visit for that reason. Seeing the kind of life they could have in their home territories, it would make me so sad to see them in a cage in Canada. I'm sure the zookeepers do everything in their power to give their orangutans the best life possible, but it can never compare to a life in the jungle, even on one of their pre-release islands. I love the BOS Foundations videos so much.
I can’t love this enough. Those sweet souls make me smile and laugh and weep. I’ve seen all (I think) of the episodes on BBC Earth but I still come back and rematch on RUclips. I wish the videos were movie length. 🙂❤️
When they get older they are often loners and really unfriendly (especially the males), but it's so hard to believe because when they are kids they are seriously the cutest things ever. Their cute look is actually a major problem because people make them illegal pets as youngsters. Then when they get older, they are just completely unruly, and they get abandoned. Being pets almost into adulthood, they can't make it in the wild. So they have to stay in sanctuaries like these forever. These people do really amazing work. Not only do they attempt to condition the orphans for wild living, they also have smaller pre-release islands (quasi-wild) they can send them. I think they said less than half of the orangutans they find actually make it into the wild. So on top of all that, they have a ton to take care of on the sanctuary.
You are right. The problem is that these fraudulent fools don't care about these animals one bit. They only care about making these dramatic cartoon like videos so that they can financially enrich themselves. It is sad and disgusting.
It is because she really does not care. The longer they kept Beni overweight and dependent the more videos they could make. Allegedly they have released Beni but who knows if the animal is even alive today. Once these animals are full grown these fraudulent and incompetent vets and "rescuers" no longer care because adult orangutans don't attract the attention that the younger animals do.
It would be nice to see the whole thing not just a excellent start and abrupt stop. I can’t even locate the rest of the story on the platform ❓🤷🏻♂️❓(It is the only reason I gave them all a 👎).
Humans can pass certain diseases to Orangutans that can be very dangerous for them even if they're no big deal to us, so the masks are to protect the little orangs.
To prevent disease transfer, just in case any of the people or the orangutans are carrying something. Especially for wild orangutans, introducing an illness into the population could be devastating

With how completely inconsiderate, selfish, & ridiculously rude Beni is I personally would feed him away from everyone else by himself that way there is zero chance of him being a selfishly snatching food from the others. And only give him healthy food he undoubtedly would be unhappy in the beginning but eventually he will get hungry enough he would have no choice but to eat the food provided instead of selfishly snatching everyone else's....

Every time he takes more than his share. Or take another’s food. That’s it his daY should be over. He should be taken directly back to an isolation cage where he’s alone and he’s giving nothing but let us in some water for the rest of the day how do you spend that time alone with lettuce and his water until the next day and he does it again same thing if he does it again same thing it won’t take too long for him to learn that if he takes another’s food or more than his share there’s Consequences for those actions
dude it's not a human child it's an orangutan. they may be extremely similar to human children in many ways, but impulse control for food is a different thing. so you can't just do the equivalent of "sending it to its room" and expect that it'll just learn.

If you paid attention, he slid into the net fast enough to miss the tree stump. So stop being cynical, please.
yes they would have said something. He was x rayed and he was walking around eating in his cage and wouldn't have been doing that if he was injured.
