    Your intro from this clip showed that you just 'pocketed $10' from the stall owner, hoping you could write up good comments for that Bak Chor Mee.... That's an indirect corruption and you should not take that $10 ! Feel a bit of disappointment upon your recommendation ! PLease Do Not Do That Again ! Eat for free for food at hawker centres ....

      Raymond, I agree with you - money influences the unbiasedness of food reviews, that's why I usually decline the money (when it’s offered, it’s rare though) but in some instances like this, the more you decline, the more you risk insulting them. It's happened to me before so now I decline, then they will insist, then I decline once more then I will leave it as that. If they really insist, then I will just accept the money because to risk conflict and argument over such a small matter is really not worth it. thankfully, it doesn't happen very often (maybe once every two years). that's why I go to the stalls a few times to confirm the quality before I bring my camera - at least that aspect is assured. I'll pin this comment so that people will understand that honest food reviews can be tricky and means alot of self-imposed vigilance

      Yeah,if you had meant to be corrupted,you wouldn't have bothered to give yourself trouble by telling us about the ten dollars bribe from auntie. It's even more not worth all the misunderstanding for ten dollars or any amount.
      Just hope you will consider donating that amount to Charity to fully disclaim it.

    • @GregoryLeow
      @GregoryLeow  3 года назад +8

      Hi Delphine, actually all this money goes to the tissue paper aunties and uncles by giving them a little extra. Then again they always get a little extra whether or not I get $10 from a hawker 😆

      Yea,but it's how you 'dispose ' of any amount related to your works,even if it's ten cents disposal. It's the meaning of it behind more rather than anything. Fully disclaim it to give credit and clarity to your job.
      Of course,if they go to the underprivileged,all the better.

    • @GregoryLeow
      @GregoryLeow  3 года назад +8

      Btw just to clear up any possible misunderstanding, this $10 wasn’t from this Bak Chor mee stall that I featured in this vlog. It was from another stall (which I won’t disclose) - they wanted to show their appreciation for the publicity so they insisted that they pay for the food. The reason why I showed the clip is to be honest and upfront that incidents like this do happen. that’s the reality unfortunately

  • @BigLaw67
    @BigLaw67 3 года назад +3

    OMG! The secret is out! Best ever soupy BCM 58 Bedok reigns supreme IMHO. Been eating this place for almost 20 years. The stall starts selling at 5.30am but the regulars customers will pre-order and wait around 5am. Often order the $2.50 version as I love the mince meat soupiness. Cheap and super satisfying.
    I recommend you try the mee pok and the kway teow version next time as it adds a different dimension to the BCM. Try it and be amazed. This stall can do not wrong. High praise indeed for a humble stall but I swear by it. I even woken up at 5am craving for it.

    I traveled to the east and ate the Xing Ji one a few weeks ago. It's like more than a decade since I ate from that stall, I almost forgot how good it tasted. Looking at your review on this one, just makes me salivate! Have to try it one of these days, especially when they still offer it with the dumplings.

    Hi greg, love your videos! I used to patronise this stall regularly as i studied nearby hahaha. Always felt that your recommendations could only come from a real foodie since many of them are not that well known. Also love that you have very detailed and accurate descriptions of the taste and textures of the food.
    I wanna ask you if you have tried Neighbourwok hokkien mee from bukit batok. Have recently tried it and was really blown away! I have tried Lorong 29 geylang hokkien mee (both at the original outlet, which I feel that the wok hei is too strong to the point that it tastes burnt, and the outlet at katong which you have featured on this channel before), Chomp Chomp hokkien mee, Yong Huat (i love their fried mee sua), but i feel like Neighbourwok is by far the best in terms of wok hei level, and actual flavour from the stock. I dont even live nearby but I would travel all the way there just to eat it. I really recommend you to give it a try and let us know what you think!

    Nothing wrong with Greg pocketing the $10, she was being kind, she probably felt sorry for Greg thinking he has to earn a living by doing videos. She'll feel offended if he didn't accept her kindness. I would probably do the same without hind sight, being spontaneous. Please have an open mind, not always so negative. Greg always gives honest reviews. Period. Wishing you a happy new year.

    • @Teledible
      @Teledible 3 года назад +1

      @@Juan-nz1gu super under rated but low key like its that way so no long queues like at other fish soup stall. They’re damn generous with the ingredients for the price to quality ratio! Fresh sliced fish and the fried fish is not just a puffed up flour bag floating sadly in the soup. Dont get me started with the one whole fried egg floss and the bitter gourds and vege to add astringency and cleaness to the soup. I’ve tried a few of the really popular stalls but this really remains my favourite fish soup of any in Singapore!

    Hi Gregory.
    This bedok stylè bak chor mee i believed its their soup stock to enticed customers at that area.
    But bak chor mee.
    The word 'bak chor' is actually minced pork in teochew language.
    There are better bar chor mee with stew slices of shitake mushrooms, slices of pork liver, pork balls plus a great soup stock usually from pork bones and ikan bilis.
    Also have other types of noodles such as mee kia, mee pok, yellow noodle, bee hoon.

    The dreaded day has come.
    Greg has discovered BCM lovers (this particular style) long held secret.....
    Now queue will be way way longer than the already long queue......alamak!
    But fear not BCM fans, there's a stall selling "almost" identical BCM behind this one (back to back).
    Don't wanna queue, then makan at the one behind, then draw your own conclusions.
    Then will you understand why we queue 30-45mins (longer at weekends)
