Marrakesh, the cultural centre of Morocco. For almost a millennia, the city has been a political and financial hub for Southern Morocco. Throughout its illustrious history, it has even served as the capital of multiple empires. The city is so integral to Moroccan history that the country is known as Marrakesh in various Asian countries. Today, Marrakesh’s illustrious past is commoditised through its booming tourism industry; every year, millions of visitors flock to the city and witness firsthand its rich heritage.

Which epic city's history would you like to see covered?
minneapolis
Shiraz!
Kuala Lumpur
Kazan
London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bombay or Delhi would be interesting to know about. With the popularity of some of these cities, it would be best to add in some lesser-known facts about the cities like, Religious affairs, daily life, economy or any other niche topic.
عدم الإحساس بالمسؤولية هو السبب في الفشل، فكل واحد ينتظر أن يبدأ غيره.
"The Lack of a sense of responsibility is the reason for failure, as everyone waits for each to start"
- Abdul Karim Al Khattabi (Morrocan freedom fighter)
i visited Marrakech three times. It’s the best place of what Morocco can’t offer to tourists. Thanks for giving us this brief history of Morocco
Another one where I watch the video both for info and the pronunciation
Aww shucks, thanks man!
2:08 back in school I had a notebook which had these tanneries in the cover, I remember being fascinated by it
just a note, : Leo Africanus was Moroccan himself, he grew up in Fez and studied at he University of al-Qarawiyyin, he was captured during his voyage to the Hajj by Euroepan pirates, then presented as gift to the pope were he got convereted to christianity
Not sure that he converted...
@@user-pr8uy9bw8y he was baptised by the Pope himself and worked directly for the pope. althou some say he returned to Morocco in his late years and reconverted to islam but this is not a sure thing, the sure thing is that he was baptised by the pope
@@Yanzdorloph
He was forced and as did a lot of moorish people in spain ( leo was in italy) , his conversion to christianism was only to save his life... it was a de facade conversion. His writings about africa and islam did not show any signs of his conversion .... and no disrespect neither for islam nore for his origins...
Wow marocco... I have never been there..
Verry verry verry verry verry good job
شكرا لك حبيبي.

Speaking of things related to Europeans but still have something to do with Islam, will you do videos about something like the Anglo-Moroccan alliance and how the Albanians converted to Islam?

you'll love it, unless your a hippie
At 0:06, you have used "millenia," which is a Plural, whereas you should have used the Singular, of the same i. e. "millenium," instead.
Fascinating place.
Somehow, I'm not surprised Marrakkeshis didn't appreciate a hippie invasion, lol.
Yeah I totally understand why - when a bunch of long haired, stoned cretins turn up in my town, I hate it. Plus it brings back to many memories of my youth. F*ck Hippies!
Hey I’m there right now.
