Reminds me of the old American malls built in the 60's. Was this mall built in the 60's early 70's? If so it appears to have not been remolded much which is retro cool. It's a shame places like this are going away.
Yup, good eye - it was built in the early '60s. Can't remember the exact date off the top of my head. For sure, there aren't too many of them left!
If you can get over to Northern Ireland take a at Bow Street Mall in Lisburn. It’s approaching 50% vacant and it’s down to 1 anchor.
No plans to head back to NI in the immediate future, but I'll definitely keep in mind if I'm over that way. Thanks!
The mall esthetically looks depressing no wonder no one visits there anymore.
Yeah, the place didn't get the investment it needed over the past decades. Have some more info on that in my other video on the centre if you're interested.
The Mall locks like out of the early 1980s, you have to modernise to attract people, the owner is a Scrooge.

Will you do some other shopping Center like Brentcross. The one that have long history. I think I been there once long, long time ago. I love to see what it is like now. It is so interesting just seeing different shopping locations other then what we are used to. Thanks for the upload.

Internet killed all this... it was a big thing in the 90s
The slow death of brick and mortar retail is a complicated thing, but I don't think anyone can deny that online shopping has had a big part in it!

As far as I'm aware, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, it's sealed off and demolition is either taking or has taken place!
It’s completely pulled down now. The first part of the demolition started in April 2021, and the very last chunk of Hannibal House and the structure was demolished in September

@@DeadMallWalking yep. I've been going to the church opposite it for 19 years, and it still feels so bizarre to be able to see straight through the area the centre used to be. It was a true dump, but I have to say the area has lost a lot of its culture. The Elephant and Castle area has to be one of the most extreme area changes I have ever lived to see
