Same. When I saw the news about their travel delays yesterday I immediately thought "This will be one of those Leafiest of Leafy loses." The guarantees in life, death, taxes, and the Leafs being the Leafs.
These are the kinds of losses that remind me that when Matthews, Marner, and Nylander retire like a dozen years from now, Toronto's last Cup win will still have occurred in 1967.

Canucks all season so far have been injury riddled and top players besides hughes has been snake bitten to hell and back. This season has been MISERABLE, they needed this win
You should talk about Morgan Rielly. How he's -14 this year, and has been absolute trash. 7.5 mil for a player with 5 goals , 15 assists and -14. One of the worse defencemen in the league, who for multiple times this year has been scored on in the 1st minute of a game.
@@filthydegenerate6528 ...if a defender is a -14, then yes that is a very relevant stat, because that means *he's not defending.* -1, -2? fine. -14 is insane as the top defender on a team making $7M+, especially when he has 20 points. that means he's been on the ice for at least 34 goals against lol.

At the end of the day if the hatred for losing doesn’t drive these guys to elevate to a level we’ve yet to see come playoffs, the result will be the same. And we will look back on this time in a decade or so and just see a really good team that never really scared anyone
As a canucks fan who loves your videos Steve (you’ve kinda turned me into a part-time Leafs fan lol), I get why you said this should’ve been a game the Leafs win. Canucks are prob exhausted from back-to-backs, are sick and injured, we’ve stunk over the past few games, and we can’t score! But can’t underestimate the Canucks and I think that’s exactly what happened hehe.
I was at the game and got to go on the ice 2nd intermission for a intermission game, and I was told by multiple different people that I was the best part of the night, I also got a goal in the net which one more than all leafs players today
Was there. Highlight of the game was you just ripping it wayyy too hard for the zones you were trying to score on. Straight into the net instead got a good chuckle, thanks!
It's true though, Crosby, Kucherov, McKinnon, McDavid, there's something different about those guys. You can see it in their eyes when they are blood lusted.
@@LARGO125 when any of those players are on the ice you can see that they immediately take control and the pace of the game changes. It's like Matthews is invisible when he's out there and now he isn't even taking shots on the powerplay. You can tell when Domi and Robertson are out there because they're skating like they have something to prove but that's about it, the only person on the first line who is noticable is Mitch and definitely not yesterday
Whether they win a cup eventually or not, I hope some day there's a documentary about this incarnation of the Leafs. I feel like there needs to be a forensic breakdown of why a team with that much talent can't seem to assemble the right combination to even come close to winning a cup.
It's not hard, the team is riddled with a myriad of problems. On the surface they look extremely talented but deep down, they lack a lot of things, a lot of very important things. They have exceptional high talent, but none of that talent is capable of dragging anybody into a fight, into a game. What do I mean? Like a fight, a big hit, shit disturbing, stuff like that. Here's how you know they don't have it: there were three moments of brute in this game that come to mind. One was a hit, another was an after scrum face punching and the last was running around in play trying to stir shit (albeit way too late in the game). Now, if you guessed the first one was Timmins, congratulations - not who you thought would throw a big hit right, and definitely not the biggest of the game. If you thought the second one was Robertson, congrats for going two for two. Again not who you expect to be punching faces either after the whistle but he did it to protect his goalie. Finally the last one is a free space because it's Domi and to be expected, it was just done way too late in the game so it didn't matter. That makes Domi's game basically irrelevant, yet still a highlight which is more than you can say about the other top 6 forwards and Rielly. The team is cozy. The star players are cozy because they don't do things that make them uncomfortable. They can't drag the rest of the players into the fight. Either they don't want to, or they don't have what it takes to do so. The closest we've seen over the years are fights from Morgan Rielly after the team getting embarrassed after some shit, whether that's a stupid empty net goal, or Matthews getting run over, or some shit like that. That's sad because its rarely much of a fight and if Morgan Rielly is the guy that drags you into this, wtf are the other 4 guys making $3 - $5 million more than him doing? Side rant: we can shit on Rielly all we want, and deservingly, but like... $3 - $5 million more is what each of JT, Willy, AM and Marner are making over him, and we want to chew Rielly out as being the issue on the PP? lol... that's a combine $12 - $20 million of money that could easily be for a competent 3C and heck possibly a decent top 6 gritty winger; which really hints at the next big issue. Ok, so they make a lot of money they don't need to be gritty right? Therein lies the next reason why this team doesn't succeed. All the money goes to high end talent and there's nothing left for secondary stuff and certainly not players who want to drag you into the fight. So if the high end talent isn't going to do it, it just doesn't happen. And when you get a team against the ropes, when they are in desperation mode because they want it more than you, because they don't have a tomorrow (think playoffs), that's when you need to have more hunger to win than them. There's really nothing else to say other than the leafs just have never been able to show they have that. "Ya but what about the series against TB they won!?"... The more we get further from that, the more I realize that TB was probably just a tired team and didn't have enough fight in them to hold up another go. This really showed with Vasy looking human in goal. It wasn't that Toronto wanted it more, it was TB running out of gas to compete: 3 finals, 2 cups, something like almost 120 playoff games (an entire season and a half of games...). If you accept that fact and then look back at these leafs, well that doesn't spell good things for this leaf team. Are the leafs different? Sort of, they certainly look it defensively behind Berube. But that has come at the cost of offense too. Now have they fundamentally changed their identity? Not sure I believe they have yet. There's still time but right now, I can't say I believe they will do anything different than they have done. At best they make it to the 2nd round because they start with a weak, tired first round opponent (from fighting so hard to get into the playoffs) IF they are able to pull head out of ass and maintain first place in the division. That's a big if right now. And those two issues are just the obvious ones. The not so obvious ones make you want to fix these two upper issues more because of how they impact them.
Great points on this one Steve. You can go back 50 years and find at least one “unstable” player on each cup winning team. And that Samsonov comment was uncalled for 😂
I think the key things that were described is that on that five game-winning streak they didn’t play well and I think that now it’s catching up to them, you can only play that way so many times before it catches up to you and that’s what happened. It’s caught up to them and every team that Toronto beat was either bad or mid but they can’t beat playoff teams it’s seems
I have been a Leafs fan for 40+ years. Games like this (and your synopsis of the team) are the reason why I've lost my passion as a fan and I refuse to spend money on anything Leafs. I did get a chance to go to a game earlier this year (Vegas) in the platinum 5th row from the ice with free tickets. My default answer to being asked if I wanted them was "no". The stars don't care, they collect their money and go on the merry way. $25.00 beers, $18.00 chicken fingers, $50.00 t-shirts at Scotia Bank arena, where do you think that money goes? Lining Willy's, Mitchy's and Auston's pockets.
Best LFR I've ever seen. Life long leaf fan. That video sums up the team better than I've ever heard before. We just don't have it. To br even more honest we traded away the closest thing to it when Kardi got moved.
Thanks for having our back, Steve. We spent a lot of money to go to that game and it was so disheartening and boring. Canucks fans had a great time. We made it a good evening anyway, but yeah. You're not wrong. I wasn't mad about the game until I heard Marner's post-game. That guy has GOT to go, I don't care how talented he is. He doesn't have it, not in Toronto anyway, and he never will.
Chief needs to sit the team down Sunday at 630 am. Play them this video. Then skate them until they reach bedrock. Absolute embarrassment this team is.
First time visiting the channel, and a Canucks fan, but I love the passion here. Obviously happy with the result personally, but it's still fun to see the enthusiasm that you put into your synopsis while making some topical Lion King comparisons haha. I think with the Canucks as battered both physically and mentally as they are, the Leafs did not look great in this game, but Toronto still put Lankinen to work and Petterson actually had a quiet stat night. That said, we over on the left coast always love to put our Leaf homers into a wagon and send them over a cliff so we don't have to listen to them anymore so this was nice overall. Thanks for the video from a new subscriber. :D
Blues had guys like thorburn around, Vince Dunn has a screen loose, Perron is nuts, Bortuzzo will always mix it up, Pietrangelo, schenn, fabbri, Steen, maroon and on top of all of that, they had Berube. That's the issue with the Leafs. They only have Berube
Factually untrue he's talked about at length before how that's not true at all. Individual videos do best when they lose. But if they get eliminated there are no more videos to make... if they go multiple rounds he'll make more money because they're still actually playing so he has to keep making videos... he's said it himself he makes more money overall when they win not when they lose lol. And it's just logical. Lol
So Vancouver the second half of a back to back, got in very late to Toronto, they lost a bunch of games in a row, and the Leafs couldn’t do anything against them!! A PP that was worse than useless. Year 9 of the MM AM era, are they any closer to winning the Cup ?? Nope! In 16-17 season all rookies then there was hope then… but now bye bye this spring as usual in the first round. This group of Leafs will never be winners.

Are they a ready to assert dominance over the land? No. But they're hunting for bigger and better meals to be ready when that time arrives.
Quite simply not one of the worst dmen in the league but thanks for coming out. +/- is am irrelevant stat buddy lol. Always has been always will be
@@filthydegenerate6528 ...if a defender is a -14, then yes that is a very relevant stat, because that means *he's not defending.* -1, -2? fine. -14 is insane as the top defender on a team making $7M+, especially when he has 20 points. that means he's been on the ice for at least 34 goals against lol.
@SteveDangle So, I'll be honest, I'm a Canucks fan, but going into the game last night, I was waiting for you guys to BEAT THE EVER-LOVING TAR out of us, I was stunned it never happened. I may love our Vancouver boys, but I really do hope your boys get that act together. It would be a dream match of mine to see the Canucks and Leafs Duke it out for a cup and end the Drought for the country. I'm wishing ya the best Leafs fans, I sincerely mean that!!!
I was there. It was as bad as it looked. They were outplayed, outworked, and out goalied. It was just sad.
My first game in a very long time, most entertaining part was booing them off the ice. Playoffs are coming quickly and this team is as VANILLA as ever
Hey Leafs fans relax even the Canucks can't lose every game. By the way from Canucks fans everywhere thanks for the two points .😂
It wasn't all bad..... Sammy could have been the goalie on record for either side.
I absolutely hate to see my team lose but when I watch Steve the next morning when I am on the treadmill, somehow he makes me feel better. I don’t understand it, but I love Steve’s rants. I wish I could vent my frustration like he does. ❤
Well said Steve. Honestly! As a Leafs fan, your honesty helps
At the end of the day if the hatred for losing doesn’t drive these guys to elevate to a level we’ve yet to see come playoffs, the result will be the same. And we will look back on this time in a decade or so and just see a really good team that never really scared anyone
I'm honoured we got such a good LFR from our first game against the leafs this season. Hope for another good one in Feb
We play the leafs again in like a month at home
@@joshmacmullin6103 oh shoot you're right! Thanks for the correction
Haha same. I also know the Leafs bec. of Steve.
I picked up all Canucks players in my fantasy just for this game 😂
I’m so excited for this one 😂😂
As a lifelong diehard Canucks fan HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
I was at the game and got to go on the ice 2nd intermission for a intermission game, and I was told by multiple different people that I was the best part of the night, I also got a goal in the net which one more than all leafs players today
Yeah, I am sure your mommy and daddy said you were the best ^_^
@@ThexSleepingDragonyour account was made 13 years ago, there is a good likelihood you are a grown adult. Is this what you waste your time doing?
@@Thebradleybushell I was not kidding, I am sure you're the next mconner.
Was there. Highlight of the game was you just ripping it wayyy too hard for the zones you were trying to score on.
Straight into the net instead got a good chuckle, thanks!
This was the best saturday to miss a game! Glad i was celebrating someone else tonight 🎉
As a Canucks fan I enjoyed this thoroughly.
This must be the funniest lfr I've watched so far 😂 I love the lion and gazelle analogy
Try watching the Zamboni one, still the best for me. But agree with the analogy.
Steve was in rare form tonight. This one was one of the best ever. Thanks Steve!
Tachuck (sp) would pop the other 3 tires. I did n't see that one coming. Terrific.
Ill admit it, I fucking laughed at that cause its very likely true.
man i love you ur LFR'S Steve.. I feel like u give us true fans who watch every game/ lfr a voice.. but u jinxed us last lfr...
"It is better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardner in a war." It seems we have a number of gardeners in the war within the Leaf line up.
Wow that's a perfect analogy. I've been trying to find it but you got it first! Bravo!!!
"I am right until further notice" early quote of the year
Steve, Pettersson had a good game, he was so good defensively that he played a huge role in shutting down the Leafs offense.
Exactly! One of the reason Leafs lost. They Couldn’t get going.
Petey was an absolute defensive beast
The gut with Zero takeaways? Lol yeah alright.
THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH NATHAN MACKINNON!!!!!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's true though, Crosby, Kucherov, McKinnon, McDavid, there's something different about those guys. You can see it in their eyes when they are blood lusted.
@ oh I know lol. They’re different for sure lol.
They’re the maple leafs. Turn on tsn. You’ll get it every day
It's not hard, the team is riddled with a myriad of problems.
@@davidma22 bro it’s the leafs. Not a thesis.
@@whoopass2rbnailed it
It's easy buddy @davidma22. NO HEART. No hunger, no passion. Just paychecks. Like Shoresy said, they love to win, but don't HATE TO LOSE.
Great points on this one Steve. You can go back 50 years and find at least one “unstable” player on each cup winning team. And that Samsonov comment was uncalled for 😂
did drew miss a couple swears at 17:00? or are those allowed in LFRs now? wasn’t sure
He's sworn before. The F word is the no go
A more passionate and poetic one taker NO ONE ELSE IN THE WORLD could film!!!! This is CINEMA
Would love an uncensored version of these
I've watched this LFR 4 times. Can we redo the Christmas episode? This is the best Steve rant ever.
Steve, I love all your videos, but this one was the best! You're the best!
Not here for an ad read...I'm here for the One Timer. (That's what these should be called.)
Don't worry Steve there is always next year
I think this might be my favourite Dangle video of the season. Thank you for so eloquently saying what most of us---if not all of us---are thinking.
The Habs absolutely kick the Leafs butt
I’m a leafs fan on Vancouver island and I won’t hear the end of this for a long time.
Darcy Tucker, Tiger Williams, Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour to name a few, wore the Crimson Mask.
This is fucking truth right here
Dan Maloney
Best LFR I've ever seen. Life long leaf fan. That video sums up the team better than I've ever heard before. We just don't have it. To br even more honest we traded away the closest thing to it when Kardi got moved.
I'm so glad you actually titled it this lol
Thanks for having our back, Steve. We spent a lot of money to go to that game and it was so disheartening and boring. Canucks fans had a great time. We made it a good evening anyway, but yeah. You're not wrong.
I wasn't mad about the game until I heard Marner's post-game. That guy has GOT to go, I don't care how talented he is. He doesn't have it, not in Toronto anyway, and he never will.
Chief needs to sit the team down Sunday at 630 am. Play them this video. Then skate them until they reach bedrock. Absolute embarrassment this team is.
When you watch a stream of a game like this with steve going off during the stream, you just wait for the lfr notification😂
As a jets fan, when I saw what the leafs were doing tonight, I was really looking forward to this one. Keep up the great work!!
Maybe it's the time that the Canucks finally starts turning things around
Canucks got 0 powerplays, killed off 3 leafs PPs. Still many many players coming back from injuries and slumps, and still manage to win
A leafs-jackets 1st round... jackets sweep 4-0
Games like this make the wait for a podcast on Monday seem eternal!
Look at it this way, any embarrassing losses or the inevitable first round exit are helping pay off your house.
Actually though
Factually untrue he's talked about at length before how that's not true at all. Individual videos do best when they lose. But if they get eliminated there are no more videos to make... if they go multiple rounds he'll make more money because they're still actually playing so he has to keep making videos... he's said it himself he makes more money overall when they win not when they lose lol. And it's just logical. Lol
One of the best LFR this season
So Vancouver the second half of a back to back, got in very late to Toronto, they lost a bunch of games in a row, and the Leafs couldn’t do anything against them!! A PP that was worse than useless. Year 9 of the MM AM era, are they any closer to winning the Cup ?? Nope! In 16-17 season all rookies then there was hope then… but now bye bye this spring as usual in the first round. This group of Leafs will never be winners.
Best one yet Steve, thank you.
"Who has a screw loose on the Leafs?" No one. Now maybe they need a new controller for their video games, but that's not the same.
"....I think the Habs kick the Leafs azz!..." Ah got to love you Steve! 😊
