Hi Kiva. I've been trawling the designer RUclips space and it's so hard to find examples of average homes. Most show spaces with vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, or other unique architecture. Honestly, it's discouraging as an average person with an average house. If you had a playlist where you only show off designs in these smaller homes, I think it would get a lot of traction.

She’s always talking about how to jazz up your own personal space. She always says not “because not everyone has vaulted ceilings or floor to ceiling windows.”
Yes it would be nice to visually see an “average” house but it’s rare you find that online. Imagination! I think she does just the opposite of what you’re saying and I’ve seen others comment on how she gave inspiration to them for their little ol’ house.

I wanted to make a little “me space” down in my unfinished basement. I wasn’t looking for something crazy expensive but I did want it to be comfortable ruclips.net/user/postUgkxitRzxya-XugamYgLwa_2G1gxPg4MCJHa as I planned on using it to escape reality and have an inviting place to go when I need “me time”. It came very quickly and it took me maybe 30 minutes to put it all together by myself. I will say, the boxes it comes in are awkward shaped and LARGE. So I did have to have help getting it inside. But it is SO comfy. It’s a little on the firm side but I prefer that. The back is not that attractive but I cover it with a blanket. All in all, I would 10/10 recommend it to anyone.
Love this video! A design video I would find so useful is designing a space that has 8 foot ceilings. It's really hard to find good advice.

I have a Pottery Barn slip covered sofa that I have owned for 12 years. It is ivory and has withstood children and dogs, and still looks brand new! I absolutely love it, and would highly recommend.

Kiva, this was an amazing video! So informative! Need more videos like this! Interesting you mentioned the Harmony & the Andes Sofa! I wanted the Harmony so bad but found it not to be comfortable. I thought it wasn’t easy to get up and down so I went with the Andes which was a bit firmer and worked a little better for my needs.

This is my favorite video you’ve ever made! I’m in the process of buying some pieces and got great ideas from this.
My 2 furniture finds of this year were the large irregular shaped mirror from zara and the mackenna nightstands from mcgee and co! The mirror is so different and a great entryway piece and the nightstands… omg… they are so heavy and solid! I thought I couldnt justify the price for a stupid nightstand but it gives such a nice pop of color to my bedroom.
I have the Maxwell sofa from RH and LOVE it. It’s fully worth the investment. Everyone who has come over has raved about how much they love it.

Living Spaces is also a great place to look for sofas, I live in an small apartment and it’s hard to find a really nice sofa that fits your space but at Living Spaces you can customize pretty much any sectional sofa that they have that can fit in your space. I’m not sure if they have stores on the west coast but they have multiple store on the east coast.

Love that Arhaus nightstand. I’ve been looking to update mine. I still have my nightstands from years ago and have been reluctant to get rid of them because of the solid materials and the storage. But they definitely are outdated. Going to take a look at Arhaus. Im a Pottery Barn fan. But looking to blend in more eclectic pieces.

Yay! We have the maxwell sofa with down inserts. I loge it but we did not get it with perfomance fabrics. We have it for I think 8years. We were ready to replace it, but we had a baby last year, so this couch will have a few more years with us. 😂

Kiva, it seems you have a rectangular living space containing living room and dining room. Not sure if kitchen is open as well. I have same with kitchen separate. After repeated furniture placement, I found that having a sofa or love seat placed horizontal facing the back wall and beyond the dining area, is the best layout. Your other sofa can be against the wall opposite the windows. Have you ever tried this placement? I love it for separating those two spaces.
Love the suggestions. I’ve been looking for new nightstands for years and just can’t find anything I like. right now I have a solid wood Ethan Allen bachelor’s chest I found in Goodwill 10-15 years ago fir $20. It works but is not the style I want now. Hopefully once I decide on a new bed, I’ll find something. I’m hoping that’s the reason for the decision block. 😔
