Everyone seems to test the upper limits of welders and that is good information to have. How does this machine do with gas MIG on thin sheet metal, say 20 gauge using 0.023" wire?
in my opinion, that's too thin... the presets are biased for 035 wire (with 030 as an afterthought). also best to use solid wire and argon_CO2 .. i've also found it performs beautifully on 220V - using an adapter on my dryer outlet. for reference, i'm a hobbyist welder - i use this MIG to make and repair exercise equipment. i use a primeweld TIG for motorcycle and furniture. for your thin application, you would be manually pulsing - using the lowest settings with the voltage override set to -10.
I'm learning welding and heck I wish they send me one. That way I can learn all ..just stating it. ...I own the harbor freight 120 and the 240. One. I used the 120 a lot on small things the 240 is still in the box. Til the garage is done.
its on sale during the holidays for around 350 you can get the TIG torch from their website also on sale so you can have it with the TIG torch for less than 400 bucks
Your running it maxed out because it only puts out 160 amps max I got one from Amazon and it would not do the fab work on my roll cage sent it back and got a susemse mig-235 for $340 and smoked on that yes welder until I got my primeweld tig 225x.
I'm currently saving up to buy this welder I'm specifically looking at this one I've never welded I want to learn how to weld so I can teach my kids how to weld I can't afford a big high priced welder so I'm making a good choice in your opinion with the yes welder 3 in 1 I hope so cuz I'm about to buy it in a couple weeks I'm going to have to weld with flux core because I can't afford to get gas or a bottle right now but that's okay
I have this welder. It works. there are some caveats. it's multiprocess ... sure. but it's a MIG welder. use it for the. the rest are afterthought settings. i'm happy to honestly answer any questions. i'm a beginner/intermediate hobbyist welder. my recommendations are to buy it but use it for what it's for - MIG running on 240V. 120V works well but, when running on 240V, it's like fine sir brushing with metal. i love it and am glad i bought it.

the only reason to pay 3 or 4 times more for a welder, for a home hobby or small shop, is bragging rights.
