Unfortunately no audio. Quite amazing that this was a decade into her reign, before Vatican II, and she passed on just over a week ago, 8 September 2022.

Cardinal Reginald Pole was the last Plantagenet in the male line, with a better right to the English Crown than the parvenu Tudors. King Henry VIII beheaded his aunt, Lady Margaret Pole as a "traitor" because he couldn't get his hands on Cardinal Reginald to do the same.

I was under the impression that only royalty could wear white to a papal audience and were not to wear black. I'm not sure, however, that applied to her being a Protestant. I read many years ago that when Charles was in Rome he had planned to attend a mass with Pope John Paul ll. When she became aware of this change to his visit she notified the British ambassador to the Holy See instructing him not to do so?

It’s called privilege du blanc (privilege of the whites in English). Currently living there 4 queens, 1 princess & 1 grand duchess who hold the privilege. Queen Elizabeth being Protestant wasn’t entitled & was expected to wear black when in the popes presence. This is technically a rule for all women Catholic or not, excluding the few blanc holders.

@@matev4786 When did Princess Marina die? For a moment I thought I saw her on RUclips at the funeral of King Constantine, but the woman looked too young anyway. I didn't see Prince Victor Emmanuel there or Emmanuel Filiberto who is married into the Greek royal family as well I believe. Perhaps V E wasn't invited as he had a nasty kerfuffle in Madrid with his cousin at the wedding of Prince Pavlos. Neither of the cousins had a sterling reputation though.
