I bought Litchi because it had more features for my P3 but it gradually started shutting down in mid flight and giving me incorrect data. After 6 months it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Different people will have different experiences but my particular experience has moved me back to the GO app with its reduced features.
I had to buy the app, and I have to say it is worth every dollar. I cannot get the glitchy DJI Go apps to work at all on my Nexus 6P. Litchi on Android is much more reliable. DJI Go works fine on iOS.
Dylan Mulrooney I'm certainly considering buying Litchi also. I have a Sony Experia XZ on Android 7.0, and the DJI Go-4 app is junk!!! It will rarely fly my Mavic glitch free!!!
Litchi is great and stable. I recommend it, still using it every day. You can see if it works by downloading a cracked version, but pay the developers if you use it!
Dylan Mulrooney Thanks for the message. I got a set of stable flights from a full battery yesterday afternoon. I've had to delete, reload and reset the latest GO-4 update. I'll test it some more before I make the jump to Litchi. Good to know I have it as an option 👍
The latest 4.0.6 update with firmware to suit loaded in the Mavic is working almost every flight without issues now. A couple of important things to do is turn off the Cache Locally setting and I run my phone in Airplane mode to stop any live streaming out of the DJI app to the network. These things seem to be best.
Love how Dan points out the one negative thing he found in your video. Than..ks for putting it together. I've been using both for a while now and this video was well done. Helpful for me and new users to quickly identify the pros of having the Litchi app. I've used both and feel great about the pano and orbit features of litchi. I especially like that you can set your orbit from home before a flight rather than DJI go where you have to fly over the spot you want to orbit. I haven't used the active track, but judging by your video, the algorithm it uses to identify the object to track might work better than DJI Go. I will have to test this theory.
I have a small query regarding a tool for UAV cinematography. Can please suggest any application which can take user input in the form of prose storyboard language or any storyboard instructions like for example: Close up shot, mid-shot. ? and the drone can maintain the shot specification and go to another waypoint to capture another shot.
Have you ever experienced not being able to launch the Litchi app but the Dji ap works fine I have a suspicion that Dji is actually stopping the Litchi app from launching I have even turned off the Dji on notifications and the Dji wins every time it can still launch by itself, presto it just appears on my tablet. Does that seem strange or is it just my imagination? So I would say there is a big difference in the two apps with one of them being overbearing and agressive.
With #2... Didn't DJI have this feature and then removed it because people were sending their drone away to the checkpoints not taking trees/buildings into consideration and crashing them?
The main thing that lichi has that the go app doesn't is the ability to plan and layout a waypoint flight on your computer without the coptor or remote having to be on or connected, which is very handy and something the go app is sadly lacking, and apparently always will. Other than that the lichi vs dji go argument is basically like the ford vs chevy argument.
There’s also a very good addition to litchi. And that’s streaming to another device. This is so powerful but I couldnt make it to work yet. Maybe the new iOS blocks it?
gonzalo nunez I will have to double check but you may need to hit 'save' after taking video. I have missed this step before and thus missed out on a recording.
Hey, what would be a good height for the tracking follow mode? And if I start hiking up a mountain doe the drone come up with me or stay at the height I asked it to?
Hi iproDan I am From South Africa and yes I do have the Litchi App, I prefer it to DJI GO app your video is awesome, well done. I need some help how do you do a compass calibration, using litchi app on my Phantom 3 advanced?
@@thephantomharanguer The dji maintains altitude. Which makes it useless for skiing, as the skier continues downhill. Getting further and further away.
Good comparison video . I just applied for the beta for Mavic Mini on IOS. I’m interested to see how it goes. Litchi has some good functions that I enjoyed on the Phantom 😎 Plus it’s fun to fly FPV too but that’s how I crashed when filming my “Best waterfall on Gold Coast” video lol 😂
I have P3 Standard. I have seen lots of videos that say the Litchi app was a bit glitchy and slow to respond. Granted, some were older videos, but it still concerns me. Did they do any updates to work with the DJI Firmware updates?
Waypoint mode with DJI Go is limited to 500m radius and 5000m path length. Does Litchi have such restrictions? My purchase of a DJI drone & Litchi depends on this so informed replies appreciated. :-) If Litchi is similarly limited, is there a drone/app solution available that is not (or less) restricted?
The only thing I see that is better is waypoints . And some of what you said is just wrong . Go 4 has some bugs but is getting better and is free . Litchi is $22.95 .
I use Litchi with my P3S, P4 and P4P. The big advantage is the waypoint missions. Use Mission Hub to plan your missions on your computer. Sync with your tablet and then go fly. Fly as long and as far out as your battery will allow. Say a Phantom 3 Std flies a mission at 30 mph for 20 mins. In ideal conditions you could fly 5 miles out and back landing with 20% battery. If you want your P3S to be limited to about 1/2 mile, and miss scenery that you could never drive or walk to, stick with DJI GO.
Liked the video comparison. I am thinking of going to Litchie, Im new to this and don't get a lot of flying time. The Litchie app seems a bit more intuitive. PS I have the P4, excuse my lack of knowledge do both app run together or overlap !!!
If this is new to you then forget Litchi for the time being. Master the controls and basics of video and photo and when you feel like you are ready, then go for Litchi. FWIW.
If your gonna get litchi then I strongly suggest putting a GPS tracker on your quad because there have been far too many fly aways using litchi and DJI will not warranty those fly aways since its 3rd party. Even if it hasn't happened to you just remember it only has to happen once to lose your bird.
I have both and use the DJI GO4 app more than anything else. I shoot a lot of video semi-professionally and the GO app on an iPad Mini 2 seems to work better than Litchi.

I've been searching for a while now, but i can't find the setting for the "Focus Peaking and Threshold Values" on my Litchi (Android) app. :( Is this only available on iOS and/or DJI Go4?

You can download and use DJI GO 4 and Litchi on the same device. Depending on your device you might have to force stop DJI GO 4 to use Litchi. I have both apps on my LG-G6 phone, 2 Nexus 7 II and Nexus 9 tablets.
#1 is wrong. The "goggles" icon on the right enters what I call "headset mode". FPV in the dropdown list is just the normal flight mode. Can I still use my go app vise versa?
Great points..and to the point
Have been using Litchi for years now and you're pretty spot on
Is Litchi more reliable than DJI go app in terms of crashing all the time like DJI app does? If it is, you need to add that on the comparison.

so many wrong info here - mic feature is on DJI, and many other small wrong issues
I heard that this app has issues with focusing if using the waypoint...have you noticed?
does this app allow the Mavic pro to actually change altitude in follow mode unlike the GO4 app?
I have a small query regarding a tool for UAV cinematography. Can it track my drone in the event of a fly away and land?
With #2... Didn't DJI have this feature and then removed it because people were sending their drone away to the checkpoints not taking trees/buildings into consideration and crashing them?
FPV in Litchi does not mean VR Googles, though it does have that mode.
The 360×180 pano shot mode is really very food and the main reason for me to use litchi. It is a pitty that dhi go does not have this.
The main thing that lichi has that the go app doesn't is the ability to plan and layout a waypoint flight on your computer without the coptor or remote having to be on or connected, which is very handy and something the go app is sadly lacking, and apparently always will. I'm pretty sure DJI Go 4.0 can do most of these things... FPV, waypoints, orbit, object tracking, focus, etc. Screen recording is nice, though.
thank you for the breakdown as I am a beginer. Any chance you have detailed tutorial on how to use specific funnctions for phantom 3?
