    Their Beat Boxer is = Adam Rupp (called A Freak of Nature)
    High Tenor = Austin Brown, classically trained
    Tenor=Rob Lundquist, The Beard
    Baritone/Bass=Adam, but goes by Chance, cool dude

Then there's "The Gambler", "Folsom Prison Blues", "The Butts Remix", "Ring of Fire" with Avi from PTX, "Elvira", "All about that Bass", "My Church", "End of the Road"...the list is never ending!

    The sound is a mouth harp or Jew Harp, and Adam Chance is the one doing it. Yes, Really, that is Adam Rupp doing the harmonica impersonation....if you want a great Beat Box/Bass extravaganza, even though the season it past, check out "Do you hear what I hear", also Adam has a beatbox solo you can hear...9 minutes of just him..also Pentatonix and Home Free don't record what they can't perform live, with the exception of "American Pie" where the beat boxing is insane....and they say he almost passed out 3 times while trying to do it live. Also check out "Folsom Prison Blues" and "The Ring of Fire"....all amazing. Tim Foust, the bass, has a 5 octave range and has the "dragon breath" lows. If you want to see their funny side, check out "The Butts Remix" or "All about that bass". You can't go wrong with anything Pentatonix or Home Free.

    There is some post production going on in this cover when not done live. They layer Adam Rupp's vocal percussion tracks so he can keep the drum part going and still throw in the vocal harmonica. (When live, he uses a looper.) Speaking of looper, live, they also loop Adam Chance's jaw harp (didgeridoo) and even the doo doots that sounds like tree frogs. On the music video, they use seperate tracks. I would have to go back and check whether Tim Foust, bass... the man whose eyes you fell into, is doing all the bass tracks on this one. Sometimes Tim will do all the bass, sometimes Adam "Chance" will, sometimes they take turns with Chance covering bass while Tim solos... it depends on the song.
    The post production, unless another HomeFry corrects me, is the crackle (also used it My Church.) There is also some reverb on Austin Brown's last solo part.
    Love Home Free!
    I recommend you also react to Adam Rupp's "Drum Solo". If you need more intimate eye contact with Tim Foust and want your soul shaken and stirred, check out Peter Holens and Tim Foust covering Misty Mountains.

    • @buddystewart2020
      @buddystewart2020 3 года назад +3

      They have some reverb on Adams drums as well. I don't really see adding that stuff here as any different than when you're recording a band. If production thinks the drums need to be wet, they do it, same here.

    • @rachelhurst3224
      @rachelhurst3224 3 года назад +2

      @@buddystewart2020 agreed. So many Home Fries want to deny that there is post production. Post production has its place. It's okay. Last night I was watching a reaction to a heavy metal band and the fan who requested it kept denying that there was autotune and a harmony filter being used on the voices. The reactor is in the industry and trying to be as nice about it as possible, but you could hear how produced the sound was. Don't get me wrong. The song was awesome. The sound was awesome. It's just what it is.

    Just subscribed. I love home free. They pick songs that tell a story. They are considered a country a cappella group. They song other genre's as well. Their latest collaboration was with The Don McLean... writer and singer of the iconic song American Pie. This year it's the 50th anniversary of that song. They released it on Feb 3rd which was the 62nd year the plane carrying Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens crashed a few minutes of taking off, killing everyone on board. Most people think of it as The Day the Music Died. It's an 8+ minute song, but so worth watching. The a cappella groups know each other very well and on occasion collaborate with members of the other groups. Home Free has a Hugh library of songs to listen too. They're a fun loving group and it shows up in slot of their songs, but when it comes to being serious they've got that in spades. Looking forward to your journey through the accapella world.

    Oh boy there’s so much to tell you. I just discovered Home Free during the pandemic and they are amazing. Adam Rupp the beatboxer, is a trumpet player and is amazing. There’s a live video of him called Adam Rupp’s drum solo you can watch. Drums with this mouth. Chase does the mouth harp or jaw harp (not didgeridoo). He will use a looper when they sing this live as he says it hurts his voice to do it too long. Home Free won the NBC show the Sing Off in 2013 the year after Pentatonix won. They’re friends with lots of those ‘a cappella’ groups. Tim Foust, the bass, has a 5 octave range so he can sing tenor as well as bass. He has collaborated with Peter Hollens (another super talented singer) on Misty Mountains (from the Hobbit) where he goes so low at the end that the camera shakes. He’s blown speakers as well. They can all do some beatboxing too. Try Helplessly Hoping, End of the Road, Seven Bridges Road, Country Roads, I Can’t Outrun You to hear more incredible harmonies.

This is one of their best! They have performed this live with a looper so they can sing while the background vocals can be played simultaneously. Adam, the beatboxer, manages the looper while performing! The live version is just as good, or better! This is the only group of the acapella bands that I've seen live. I can assure you, it's voices. They have 3 voices that go low enough in this group that it shakes the entire theater or venue: Tim Foust (bass), Adam "Chance" Chance (baritone in the back left), and Adam "Adam" Rupp (beatboxer).
    Adam is their beatboxer and his talent is crazy. While I love Layne (VoicePlay) and Kevin (Pentatonix), Adam's my favorite and sounds the closest to a drum kit to me (he has solo videos on RUclips that you can check out; they are the solos he does in live performance at their concerts). While Adam is the official beatboxer of the group, Rob (beard with overalls in the front) has been known to hold down the beatboxing on the rare occasions that Adam sings. I've even seen a video where all of them beatbox and kind of have a mini-contest almost, which Adam clearly wins. But they can all do a little of it, enough to be respectable. Their cover with the Oak Ridge Boys of "Elvira" also showcases some bass and some drums.
    If you are not a country fan per se, check out their cover of Boyz II Men's "End of the Road" for some R&B or "Country Fried Pop Medley" for some pop. They also do an awesome remix of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" (featuring Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix) that has a reggae dance hall feel.
    Austin (the lead in this) has the lead role in a number of their arrangements is featured in their newest, "When a Man Loves a Woman." He also did a solo of "Unchained Melody." He's done a version with Home Free of "Bring Him Home" from 'Les Miserables.'

    Here's another little mind-blowing tidbit: the beatboxing harmonica (honestly all done by his lonesome) was a trumpet performance major in college. So he has other talents that only occasionally show up in Home Free performances... AND he can sing - VERY well. Adam Rupp was one of the two brothers who founded the group many years ago.

    The first time I heard this,I too was blown away. There is so much going on! They are so talented,individually and together. I have listened to many since and they are always excellent. I love the oak tree arch as their backdrop; I hear it is a historical place in Alabama. Austin Brown,who sings the most in this song,is from Georgia.

    Beyond that Adam has a natural talent, to imitate sounds, he also work really hard to maintaine, and develope that talent.
    You don't become a two time beatbox champion, if you sit on your butt.
    Adam is a world class beatboxer, and one in a million.

    They do have incredible voices. Even Adam (the beatboxer) is a great singer - although you seldom hear him sing. They have so much content out there. Their cover of "Can't Stop the Feeling" gives you a good picture of what they can all do. Tim, the bass, has a 5-octave range & does a great job in the higher range as well. One of their older videos that is ton of fun is "The Butts Remix". It will make you laugh but also show you how creative they are. Their two newest videos are a remake of "American Pie" (which features Don McLean), and a cover of "When A Man Loves A Woman". The second one just dropped today. To be honest, I don't think you'll find a bad song by Home Free. I certainly haven't. (Oh, another one that tends to amaze people is their cover of Boyz II Men's "End of the Road".) Enjoyed your reaction. Glad you decided to check out Home Free.

    Yaaay! You found Home Free! Another amazing rabbit-hole to fall down - and they ARE amazing.
    The beatboxer is Adam Rupp - he's won awards for his beatboxing. If you thought he was great on this, you should hear him in their cover of Folsom Prison Blues - along with Tim Foust, the bass guy, who hits notes you'll feel in your guts. And they have a brilliant sense of humour, which is well showcased in their 'Butts Medley/Remix,' and covers like 'All About That Bass.'
    (You also need to see their cover of 'MayDay' - but NOT YET! To get the maximum experience of that one, you have to listen to a few of their others first, to get a good feel for what they can all do in the group. Don't question it, just go with it - it'll be worth it, I promise... 😉)

    (I'm gonna make 2 comments, one to explain Home Free a little and the other ones are for the reaction request)...
    Home Free is definitely one of my all-time favorite bands. Us Home Free fans are called, Home Fries. You'll have to watch them when they were on The Sing Off, to find out why. The members names are Austin Brown from Georgia (he was the lead on this song), Rob Lindquist from Minnesota (the one in the big beard), Adam Chance from Alabama, we call him Chance though, because they have 2 Adams in the Band (he's the one in the black vest). Tim Foust from Texas (the bass singer with the 👁️👁️) and Adam Rupp from Minnesota (the beat boxer). Adam Rupp and his brother Chris Rupp started this band in 2000.... You'll see Chris in other videos. In 2013 they competed and won the 4th season of the Sing Off. They won a recording contract with Sony Music. In 2016 Chris Rupp decided to leave Home Free to go solo (that's why we have Chance now). Before the member joined the band Austin was a singer on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Rob was a bartender, Tim Foust was a teacher and Chance was in a band called Street Corner Symphony.

    To continue on your acapella journey, check out the Bass Gang. To be fair, they have a couple of songs with minor instrumentation but 99% is acapella. While they all have bass voices (duh) they all have incredible ranges. Most of their songs are done on green screen because they live in different countries (one in Egypt (Marwan), one in the Czech Republic (Tomi P) , two from the US (one on the East Coast (Bobby Bass), one on the West (Peter Barber). Three of them met for the first time a few months ago in the Czech Republic but Marwan could not get his visa approved in time.
    Loved your reaction to Home Free!

    You'll be a Home Fry in no time, if you aren't already! Home Free won the Sing Off the year after PTX, though they have been around much longer. Started by Adam Rupp and Chris Rupp (replaced now by Adam Chance) in Minnesota (where I also live) and evolved into the current group. Can't tell from this video, but they are a ton of fun!
    There have been many great recommendations already, and I would also check out Country Fried Pop Medley, Blue Ain't Your Color, End of the Road and definitely Mayday (my abs fav one, but like some have mentioned keep this one until you have a few more under your belt and understand their "typical" roles). They also put out some awesome "Quarantine edition" videos: Quarantine, Sunday Best,, Moonshine, Meet in the Middle and Down to the Honkytonk are a few.

    Beatboxer is Adam Rupp, he does a live drum solo and other sounds...Bass is Tim Foust, he's from Port Arthur, Tx., (this was filmed on the La. border thus the rain and swap feel) although you think Tims look menacing is one of the more fun ones. If you want fun, they have a Butts Remix it's a combo of Country, Rock, and little Rap. Their version of Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash) style was created for a Acapella sing off, which they won, it usually the next song other reactors do... 1st Tenor - Austin Brown, 2nd Tenor w/glasses is Rob Lundquist, Beatboxer and third Tenor is Adam Rupp, Jaw Harp and Baritone is Adam Chance, and of course the Bass is Tim Foust.

    Check out Adam Rupp's (beatboxer but can also sing tenor also he is a 2X world champion beatboxer & only learned how to do it in college when his brother Chris started this group. Chris has since left & Chance took his place.) drum solo video. Tim Faust is the bass. Adam Chance (goes by Chance as to not cinfuse the 2 Adams in the group) is a baritone & Tim is working with Chance to open his vocal range too. Rob Lundquist (guy with beard & glasses) is the tenor & Austin Brown is lead tenor that can go into superior tenor.
    Another vid you should check is Ring of Fire with guest Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix. Tim at the end of the song hits a G0. One of the lowest notes to ever be sung. Tim is also teaching Geoff from Voiceplay how to drop in & maintain the lower octaves without going "gravelly."
    Check out Hillbilly Bone too.

    Let me be the 583rd person to welcome you down the Home Free rabbit hole! Nothing they do will disappoint you. They started out in my state of Minnesota, and they are simply (along with Pentatonix) the best acapella group I have EVER heard. Adam Rupp, the beatboxer/percussion machine/one-man band, is simply not human; I encourage you to check out his live drum solo, which will blow your mind, replace it, then blow it again. Your comment on Tim Foust (the bass) looking into your soul with a menacing glare is spot on; I encourage you to check out his duet with Peter Hollens, "Misty Mountains," where you will see that his low register comes directly from the mines of Moria. As for other Home Free songs to check out, I recommend...well, all of them. :) But specific suggestions are "How Great Thou Art" (chillingly and visually beautiful), "All About That Bass" (shows their goofy side), and probably my favorite Home Free song, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" It was filmed in front of our Winter Carnival Ice Castle here in Minnesota, and it shows off Tim's insane low range and Adam's inhuman percussion and song arrangement. From a new subscriber....ENJOY!!

    Since you seem so taken wit the effects on this I'd recommend an earlier incarnation of Home Free doing Ring of Fire. It usually gets pushed because of the note Tim drops, literally, at the end, but most seem to miss Adams beautifully tuned splash cymbals. I've heard beat boxers, I've heard fake harmonicas, but I've never heard a complete drum kit coming out of one guys mouth. Amazing,

    Adam Rupp has won at least a couple of world beat-boxing competitions, and is a human drum kit and sound effects machine. They recently did a remake of "God Bless the USA" with Lee Greenwood, and he did a "jet flyover" at the end. Most recently they redid American Pie with Don McLean for its 50 anniversary, and he beatboxes for almost all of the 8-plus minutes without a break.
