- Check out my current personal fastest laps ever around the Full Course at VIR in this Ligier P315 with Katech LSx engine package. This is rated at 605 hp vs the original Nissan VQ50 at 420 hp. It is also about 45 lbs lighter. It has a slightly uprated gearbox to handle the power, but is completely stock as far as aero.

This is only around 2 seconds behind the all time VIR record set by a LMP1 car back when ALMS ran here. Insane

This particular car buzzed by me on south straight, in my Radical. It literally shook my car.

Seriously, amazing driving, thanks for sharing the experience! As others have said, the speeds through the Esses and Turn 10 are just incredible to see, and the car seems to do it with ease.

It makes you wonder why the LMP2 class still exists. Maybe John Doonan will see this video and put into motion a financially practical second tier prototype class tech spec that performs as well as the Gibson powered Oreca!

It can be (and has been) raced in a series like NASA Super Unlimited, but is really just meant to see what can be done without any rules. Of course, there’s always more that can be done!
I'm prepping for an endurance race at VIR and thought "hey, Skeen did an onboard w/telemetry at VIR, I should have a look"
I, uh, don't think we'll be doing the same speeds in our street-tire-shod 458. 170MPH in the esses... good lord.

It's a customer toy that was taken out of IMSA competition a while ago.
Yeah, it’s more of a track day or time attack car. Could do some NASA or SCCA probably.
I am not sure what was crazier? WOT at 169MPH through the uphill esses (versus 170 on the straights) or the fact that my Neon was 20 seconds slower a lap but 2MPH faster on the back straight. 😮

Thanks for sharing mike. Now, this thing looks pretty point and shoot, but we know you're ultra smooth. How would you compare driving at the limit this car vs a specE30 or SpecE46?

I guarantee this is faster than an LMDh at about 1/10 the price.
Anything could be faster than LMDh/LMH if there are no rules and budget constraints. Last gen LMP1 hybrids were almost as fast as Formula 1.
Is this a K-Tech Engine similar to what comes out of an TA2 car. LS3? Or is is tis something completely different?
I don’t know the details of the internals, but yes. It’s an LS built by Katech with just slightly more power than a TA2.
Almost 3 seconds faster than the LMP3 record. I saw you touched 170 mph, how much faster is that over a stock LMP3 car?

Oh yeah, not necessarily hardest, but certainly fastest.
