- Ah the Pre EVO Project L update has come, with some HUGE reveals. Duo queue so you can play with a Friend, a Proper UI reveal, New system mechanics, and much MUCH more.

SO... Looks like I'm Playing Project L next week, which is pretty wild. Here's to hoping we get some sort of a public beta sometime in the near future from here as well, so we can all share in the bliss that will be finally playing the game!

@@Coswalker27 That is a dope idea, but I have no idea how long the line is going to be and I do have a fair amount of plans around the Vegas trip as a whole so I'm mainly hoping to get some (or really as much as possible) time with the game as I can lol. But oh yea I wanna fit some chats in too if I can with some peeps I know are going to be there

If you check out somee of the FGC content creators, they go into quite some detail on the system mechanics and i gotta say, this shit is going to be complex. I can actually understand them doing away with motion inputs and going to a modern style simply because of the layers that are present as of right now. There is a whole lot to keep track of. As someone who plays primarily fighting games, it actually seems daunting to me, nevermind someone who has barely touched the genre. That being said i think it looks great and the fgc crowd who got to play it, rather enjoyed it. So far so good it seems
100 percent, I think your spot on here. At first even I was a little skeptical of the no motion inputs and assumed it would be close to Rising Thunders' level of simplicity, built to be digestible for even the most casual player. But what they are actually doing is Mixing pretty much all tag games into one with a splash of guilty gear and I think it's going to be insane to keep up with movement alone at the highest level, not to mention the mixup potential ive seen already. Game is gonna be bonkers at the top level and im down for it.
This game is looking CRAZY already, from watching the videos made by creators who have played the game. I hope the defensive mechanics are good enough to keep the game from being overwhelming. But its ofc an early build and alot will change
It looks so wild, I totally agree with hoping the defense can keep up but I think we are in good hands. Man..... EVO was already going to be sick, but this is some crazy icing on the cake.

I’m surprised they dropped this now. Wasn’t expecting anything Project L at least for another couple months. The game is looking better and better everyday.
EVO is in a few weeks so it’s not super surprising.
Evo seems to be a safe bet for news, including I think it's very likely we get even more next week during the actual EVO stream!

It is a little strange, plus no new character revealed quite yet but seems they may be showing one at EVO. Hopefully we get to see the new champ, Jinx, and Illaoi again soon!
i waited so long to see something and man o man the game looks stunning and the art style wow....i am happy to hear that the game have 1v1 mode 🙏 i can't wait .and i hope they show us more champs
For sure, but man it might just be worth the wait. The game is really coming together and I can't wait to see how it feels for myself

Anyway! I'm so excited for the game to drop! Would you consider using a pad, or keyboard for this?
You know, I've had people tell me that sort of thing before but idk, maybe youtube just doesn't like me. lol But as for the controller im pretty weird about that personally. I play Tekken on an arcade stick, Mortal Kombat on pad, and have been playing Street Fighter on hitbox. I will say though this game does confirmed have the dash macro of pressing Light+Medium like Marvel vs Capcom, and for Marvel those movements get INSANE on hitbox to dash, Crouch to cancel, Dash again (or wavedash). I personally think a hitbox or Keyboard will be the way to go to optimize movement, especially with there being no motion inputs - but of course, I think it will all be viable and personal comfort is most important!
@@BruiserMinion ohhh that's good then! If anything, I'd try the keyboard first and if that doesn't work, do it with pads.
Do you think the game will come out with frame data and all that right out the gate? Probably match replays, and extensive training mode?
For a FG casual like me, I feel like I only get satisfaction in campaigns and given that the IP here is something I love, I would, for once, actually try PVPs, and would love if it has good ways to be better aside from smashing my face against better players.
@@McJethroPovTee For sure man, give the keyboard a you, and can always swap over if pad feels better! I think it will have all the training bells and whistles out of the gate, game has been a looong time coming now and from the stuff they have shown publicly I think it's very clear they are trying to cater to hardcore players AND casuals alike. Honestly, I think most Fighting games will need it all going forward, Street Fighter has really raised the bar on this stuff and I can't imagine people being okay with backstepping from here. But that being said, I do hope we get some great single player/ casual content too! I love the competitive side for sure, but fun story modes and arcade ladders are great ways to learn the games in a less "stressful" environment, or even just fun distractions.

One thing I strongly dislike about discussions about why fighting games are so niche is that every fighting game fan assumes that non fighting game players are all just scrubs who "don't want to improve by themselves and only want to blame their teammates". Like, how is it so hard to imagine that many people want to play WITH their friendS(not singular, PLURAL), and most fighting games just don't provide that. Not only is this argument just blatantly false, but it also attacks potential future fg players for literally no reason. I'm really happy that riot implemented an actual 2v2 system into their game and I hope it attracts many new players into the fgc
Yea for sure! I think this will be huge, making it more accessible to have a great time with your buddies. Im also very much looking forward to having my other 3 Fighting-game-fan friends over and we can ALL play together, not just controller passing. I love that
This game's gonna be big. I can see so many collaborations Riot will make with other companies in bringing in costumes and guest characters. I don't have a PS5 yet, so I'm hoping it'll coming to the PS4. If not, I will do everything in my power to get a PS5.
Yea I think it's pretty clear the game has the potential the biggest fighting game in a very long time, if not ever. Riot money, a release-it-when-it's-done mentality, the League IP, free to play AND Duo queue with a friend? it's nuts. But true, I do wonder what platforms it will hit, the more they have the better for mass appeal so hopefully it's on everything
@@BruiserMinion It's safe to say that Project L will be the first F2P fighting game to do fighting games using F2P right. Riot's been in the F2P market going to 14 years, and well known pro fighting game gamers and specialist at the helm in the development for 3 years going to 4; Project L will change the scenery of fighting games.

I've been slacking I know! When I get back from EVO I'm sure I'll want to make some stuff around actually playing the game and if there is more news revealed. But after that and we go back to waiting for more news I do have some characters i'd like to take a crack at again

We might get the games name at evo because according to sajam they have the name already and they said that they’ll share more news soon so I’m hoping in the next 2-3 months we will get another character reveal
I did hear about the leak, guess i'll be seeing that character soon but yea overall after EVO im hoping we start getting info more frequently! that would be great, maybe like a new character and stage every couple of months like you said. I'll definitely take that over the once or twice yearly drops! lol

Now my only question will this be on ps4 and how big will the roaster be. I would say 30 seem good. But to casuals that might look small to them.
That is a good question, does look like Ps5 is confirmed but Idk about 4 if we are still a little ways awayu from launch. Would be nice, and maybe even switch/ whatever new Nintendo console could be. As for the roster there is a panel on the website now that shows Darius, Ekko, Ahri and a Mystery to-be-revealed at EVO character for the demo - BUT you can also see several blank spaces too and from that count the base roster looks to be 14 characters.

they said 4 champs will be playable at the EVO setup, I can only assume Jinx would be the 4th. For whatever reason she wasn't here, I guess she wasn't as "finished" as the others in the moment.
From what im gathering the 4th will be an unannounced champ, but I could have misread

Is it just me or is the development taking forever? It’s been 4 years since the announcement there’s only 3 characters ready? And even they don’t look super polished. I just want to play already 😅

Yea it's definitely been a while now but from what they have said they announced earlier than most games would get a lot of feedback from the community, which personally I'm really glad to hear. But the good news is if we are able to play as early as next week, I have to imagine we are getting close at this point to the actual launch or at least betas
development is going smoothly, games take years to be developed 4 years in game development is nothing also remember that their original vision was 1v1 and they changed that, so that took some time as well. The teaser we first got is way different than what the game looks like
@@symphonixblades Yea this is very true, and Riot certainly doesn't seem like they rush their stuff either. If that means more polish and features but we have to wait another year im fine with that personally!
im just hoping its on console so i can play it instead of just watching people play it.. but riot isn't exactly known for console games..
I think it's more or less been confirmed for PS5, but I dont know if it will be on Xbox or Last gen consoles
