Thanks for doing this build video, Joshua. Very helpful to see your technique. What power supply are you using for the Pinecil? Do you have a battery you like to use with it for when you travel? Thanks!
I am running it from my 100Ah homebuilt power bank that stays topped off with solar. I run a boost converter to 22v and feed the pinecil which will then pull up to 70w. Works very well for me. For portable I run two of my 12v LiPo batteries in series for 24v. If needed the pinecil will do most solder jobs at 12v as well! Joshua N5FY
Thanks! I just ordered a Pinecil so I appreciate you sharing that info. How do you monitor the voltage on the LiPOs in series? Sorry these aren’t antenna kit questions… I love your design choices on them though!
I don’t monitor. I use packs that have the same cells and configuration. Then check them against each other when voltage is getting to about 20%. They just don’t drift far from each other.
This is no good 9:1 transformer The reactance of this transformer's primary is only 17.4 Ω at 7 MHz. You need to use a ferrite here, even though you call this T80-2 iron powder a ferrite..A FT82-61 would do the job.
Really good job 73

Good instructive video. Thanks, might substitute the words diagonal cutters for "strippers".
Super!
What's the gauge of the babana connectors? Maybe 2 millimeters? Take care
Yes, those are 2mm indeed.
What soldering iron are you using?
That is a Pinecil. I really like the small iron!
@@N5FY Thanks. Do you have a make model? Or is there a better pencil iron you would prefer? Trying to find one on Amazon.
Here is the one I bought. www.amazon.com/PINECIL-Smart-Mini-Portable-Soldering/dp/B096X6SG13
You should turn off auto focus
Thanks for the tip! New Camera, still trying to figure it out! Joshua N5FY
