Ever since I watched Miko Fogarti dance La Esmeralda at the Moscow IBC 9 years ago, it has been the gold standard for me for this variation and I have never seen anyone come close with the control, technique and artistry. But after seeing this video, I have to say finally someone exceeded it (almost feels like blasphemy to say that). I am absolutely blown away, Crystal is amazing and has incredible talent. I can't believe she is only 14!
It's also the same tutu as the one Miko was wearing, which drew my attention at the time because it wasn't the standard red and/or black. But you're also right that this performance is quite exraordinary in itself for a 14-year-old dancer.
This is the best Esmeralda I’ve seen in a long time. I could pick out each step… while some dancers blend them together. Her TURNS were clearly interpreted just for her abilities! JUST STUNNING! You go my dear! Go!!!

Hi I know nothing about ballet or ballerinas but I was completely enthralled by Crystals performance. I watch many dancers on RUclips but she took my breath away. My dancing days are over I’m 78 now but love watching the young ladies they show such aptitude and promise. Good luck in the future.

Extraordinary sense of musical dynamics and technical control coupled with confident artistry. (Just work towards more control coming off of pointe with the weight not being thrown too far back) * Congratulations; exceptional performance with amazing virtuosity!
i know this choreography is meant to show off her exceptional talents as a dancer i just feel like it has lost a certain amount of nuance by cranking everything up to a 10 she has a very bright future ahead of her---an even brighter one if she can find a sympathetic choreographer to make best use of her skills.
I will always defend the: less is more! I prefer a variation with less spinning and danced cleanly and correctly than this circus that was shown in this video. There's so much stuff that it's even confusing and not to mention that it's not recorded and clean.
I usually agree but for YAGP you kind of have to pull out all the tricks to place. I noticed a few dancers who I thought were phenomenal and clean, but had fewer tricks/turns and did not place because of that. I would argue that she was also still very clean and artistic despite adding a lot of difficulty and being so young.
That was so danced cleanly and correctly?? How can you call it a circus? it was absolutely stunning and perfectly executed, I think you are a tad jealous!!!
