  • The swim bladder, gas bladder, fish maw, or air bladder is an internal gas-filled organ that contributes to the ability of many bony fish (but not cartilaginous fish) to control their buoyancy, and thus to stay at their current water depth without having to waste energy in swimming.

    I'm pretty sure reducing the water level has just saved my discus. I was sure it was a lost cause. Treated with epsom and raised temp for 3 days and did nothing. Within an hour of reducing the water level it started to crap. Thanks so much for this information

      That seems to have worked for me as well. Put my little guy in a cup with about an inch of water while i cleaned his tank & he seemed to swim much better in the cup. Hopefully once i put him back in his tank he will be able to swim much better in there as well. Will update on how he’s doing for those wondering

    Thanks for all of your great videos. I have a discus showing signs of swim bladder,which I have quarantined (before viewing this video but exactly the same treatment) - my question is could it be some other ailment as he looks really healthy and was eating OK before being quarantined?

    I can confirm this 100% worked for me. I have a gold Severum who had swim bladder disease. Was also able to hand feed my fish peas as well (which could have also helped). Only needed to keep my fish in for one day.

    Thanks for a great video, how long should the Epson treatment last for? I have a hospital tank for my angelfish, I have Epson salt, and the fish is on its side. But still swimming and looking healthy despite its lack of swimming control. Do I need to repeat the process every day? Adding more salt or just leaving the water as it is? Also, when do I introduce feeding again? My angel doesn’t like mushed peas sadly. I’m not sure what else to do from there, thanks for your advice. I am on day 1 of treatment. P.s my water parameters are always good, I check it regularly my other fish are doing well. It’s just this angelfish thats poorly.

      Please do 50% water change every day... For 5 to 7 days.. Try to maintain the same temperature... Keep water levels low only... And redose only 50% of the Epsom salt... If it dose not cure then you may have to go for antibiotics.. Which is a little complicated process..

    Same issue mene experience kiya tha. iske piche ka cause jan ne ko mila muje. There was leak in my aquarium (bare bottom 250-ltr) so i transfer them in hospital tank (60ltr) with same water and canister filter. After repair my main tank i transferred the discus in main tank. And they swim side ways. And i was guided by experience person that they have water pressure issue. Lower the water tank level and slowly slowly add the water day by day. Koi koi baar ye bhi ek dikkat aatihe aur hamse najar andaz ho jati he. Hope ye exercise informative laga ho. And currect if i am wrong..

    • @FwrapperAqua
      @FwrapperAqua  3 года назад +2

      26-28 degrees C... Black spots is called Discus peppering. Very common in few varieties of Discus... It can be due to lots of reasons water condition, tank positioning, tank mates, tank background other dominant Discus or illness... Mainly this happens due to stress... Reason for stress can be all the above

    • @TheMansfieldlad
      @TheMansfieldlad 2 года назад

      This is probably too late but treat in exactly the same way as this video except the high temperature. DO NOT FEED. If this does not work it may be bacterial infection. If so you may need to add aquarium salt which is different to epsom. Make sure you research the correct dosage and do not just substitute epsom for aquarium salt as it will likely kill the fish

I just want to check on what causes my discus to float at the corner top tank and breathing slowly. Dorsal and anal Fins like not expanding but more of like closed tight to body.
