My father in Jammu used to watch his films & he admired him a lot & then I came to Bangalore & found that every local guy is a fan of Rajkumar. Now after this interview I can say why he's a superstar and liked by everyone. A fantastic guy he was.
I'm basically a Malayalee, but settled in the US. I haven't watched many Kannada films, but I have seen interviews of their stars. Three great personalities who have impressed me with their warmth, authenticity, and genuineness are Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, and, of course, Appu
I keep watching this episode, and it always makes me emotional. Now i realize why the whole of Karnataka and Bengaluru especially was in despair. The passing away of Appu is a huge...huge irreplaceable loss. Not only because he was one of the superstars, but i believe the industry and Karnataka itself has lost one of its best ambassadors.

I am from Kerala and I haven't seen his movies till now..but to be very honest after watching this I feel that he was such a humble and simple guy who valued his culture. Generally sought Indian stars are grounded. When in it comes to Kannada, Dr.Raj Kumar was the ultimate - the word arrogance was never in his dictionary - he was always grounded like water. He was humble calm and was an inspiration to millions.
The Bollywood is all about pomp and elitism while in Kannada it's about being human. If you see most of our stars never behaved like stars actually.

I truly miss this gem of a person. He left us too soon. I studied and lived and worked in Blore from my college days. Soaked in the culture , ate food, celebrated the local food and spoke...movie is also a bigger part.

Our Neighbors in Hyderabad stayed for 5 years in Bangalore and when I asked them how could they not pickup any Kannada, they said there was no chance to learn Kannada as they were all Telugu in the area and buliding. And it depends on person to person too. I stayed in Hyderabad for one year and some of my relatives are also Telugu. Now I can understand what they laugh about in front of me. Languages are beautiful though.
But I'm afraid you'll pickup whole of Bangalore Kannada which is considered very rude accent in other parts of Karnataka. You said you can talk almost 70%.
I'm in Australia for the past 27 years didn't know anything of Rajkumar's family. Definitely heard about Rajkumar through my grandma and my mum, watched his movies and enjoyed them. What a pleasure it was to watch his son, so down to earth, no airs or graces. His father would be damn proud of him. God bless you always and watch over you. Least forgetting Kripal's hardwork, authenticity, magic words, showcasing the unknown food places will get him far greater places and recognition.
