There’s nothing wrong with a healthy rivalry among men who consider them selves the best in what they do. Kudos to both the Royal Marine Commandos and the Parachute Regiment . The 2 best fighting units of Her Majesties Armed Forces 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
The Paras and Marines are considered to be the two most elite units across the spectrum of British military (this is speculation; no documented proof but it is what I have observed) and, hence, have the largest rivalry. And they highly respect one another but neither group would ever be caught dead saying it. I suppose it just comes across as aggressive because its their military side showing as opposed to regular rugby teams. There is "animosity" but only playfully so. It's just sport at the end of the day; no bad feelings
Yes alot of rivalry!!!!! My late father a former Para-16 Parachute Brigade of 1 Para and younger brother a Para too of 216 Signals. Like all Paras formerly of Aldershot,Hants they like to refer to the Marines as the "Cabbage hats". A diehard Airborne man dad was. Sport is one thing but when there's a war the Paras will close with and destroy the enemy. They did that in 1982 in the Falkland(2 & 3 Para)after the islands were given up by the Marines. 1 Para were away in Northern Ireland at the time. I remember dads reaction to the Marines giving up the Falklands in 1982 to the Argies...he was livid !!!!! He fisted the air in triumph when the Paras marched into Port Stanley...a tear was shed too !!!! "You see that son that's us the Paras!!".
@@sailasavakalala8660 When you say the islands were 'given up' by RM, I assume you're referring to the initial battle in Stanley, based around Govt house - where 60 Royal Marines clashed with an invasion force of several thousand, without taking casualties, but inflicting (at least) 107 fatalities and countless more wounded on the Argentinian commandos and other invasion forces. There was no 'surrender' - Rex Hunt, Governor of the F Islands ordered a ceasefire, which both sides complied with prior to the task force arriving and the war commencing as it was reported.
Sailasa Vakalala 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it would’ve taken months longer if the Royal Marines weren’t there, don’t remember the paras walking 90km in 3 days with over 100lbs of kit on their backs and next to no food? Still winning the battle at the end of it aswell 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Normally played with slightly different rules..... When there's nobody else to fight with we'll practice on each other but, faced with a common threat you'd best be ready.
lol, clearly you know nothing, League is far superior to union and always will be. union players couldn't keep up with the fitness levels needed for league and union skill levels in passing and general defensive/attacking structures are woeful. having played both at amateur level and watched for nearly 40 years I know a little bit about the codes. I'm over the hill, knackered shoulders and I could still walk into a union amateur side and play ok. There's not a chance in hell i could play league at open age.

That would be a scary match if ref turned his head
Is it true there's a lot of rivalry between those teams?
@OJS OJS lol I was wondering if its normal for matches to be that aggressive or if those two teams have more animosity than usual between them

How did the marines do against the raf Regiment last year?
@@gelke1183 21 SAS are pretty good for TA, as are 23 SAS..

Alastair West ah thought so ;)
@@gelke1183 Honestly if the reserves had a team they would probably win simply due to having some professional rugby players.
