70 years ago, he was just as young like those fellow Commandos only he experienced hell on earth back in those day.
I bet he also "projected" some hell on earth himself. 👍
I have my freedom thanks to men like him
wsatnutter we ALL do my friend
@@arthurp.5213 Amen to that mate.
YES?
We have our freedom thanks to all in the past and future
What freedom would that be?
My wifes dad survived North Africa, Italy , the D Day landings and got a gallantry award from Monty. He finished the war as a Sgt Major, needless to say I took very good care of his daughter.
well not many other things you could do in this case, deffinetly woulndt wanna get on vets nerve
basher50 yes, he’d probably japslap you now if he had to
Do you know what regiment he was in? My grandfather was involved in various beach landings including Morocco, Sicily, Italy and Omaha but never fully told his story. I'd be interested to find out more information.
@@Harvester236 Kings Royal Rifles , 8th Army.
@@basher50 Battalion? My Great-Uncle was 44 RTR, 1st Army Tank Brigade in N. Africa. Before they transferred to 4th Armoured Brigade for rest of the war. They had 2nd KRRC attached as the Motor Infantry.
God bless you all, sir. 😊❤
Respect to brave heroes🏴🏴🇺🇸🇷🇺🇬🇧 and more
As they say , Old soldiers never die they simply fade away, I hope he's got a lot more time before he fades.
They only fade away when idiots like you forget and take things for granted..they don't fade away..they remain forever more and continue to be the flame at the top of the candle.Understand that??If you don't understand that well just keep your mouth shut
@@jamesmaillet9354
Why all the aggression? It was all fairly innocuous and certainly didn't call for your rather unpleasant rant. I really think you need to enroll again on that anger management course.
@@YorkyOne I'm the head counselor for the anger management class🙋
@@jamesmaillet9354
Physician, Heal Thyself.
@@YorkyOne I'm only kidding about the counselor thing..but I'm sure you knew that.Anyways I never meant any ill will with my original comment..only thing I wished and meant was the hope they remain forever no matter what..and not fade away.
I’m 16 and waiting for an interview in the marines and this just makes me extremely proud to do so
Good luck young 'un...
Goodlook.
if you pass marine training I will reguard you as physicly/mentally better than I will ever be.
Wish you well!
Are you in the marines now?
Had the pleasure of meeting this bloke myself when in training when on straight point, what a magnificent bloke he was good to see he still comes to see recruits
What a treat for these sharp lookin' recruits.
God bless this man, his generation and those recruits while they embark on their journey to becoming fine warriors.
Love from a former US Marine.
🇺🇲⚔🤜🤛⚔🇬🇧
This bought tears to my eyes 🇬🇧 well done sir, and The lads ❤️
Nothing like an old warrior looking at ya. God bless him.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ted last year.
It was an honour and privilege to talk with him and to shake his hand.
What an amazing video, when I was in the army I was privileged enough to meet a few D-Day veterans, including a Victoria Cross winner, an experience I will remember for the rest of my life. These men are the salt of the earth so humble yet we forget we owe them everything!
sixbells99 Glad you enjoyed 😊
"Winner"
Weird Science: You have your views - I have mine. Who knows who is right? What we should all remember though, is that its thanks to men (and women too!) like this fine gentleman, that we are able to express those views and make our (often pathetic?) comments on here.
You're crazy in the coconut, man, I really can't take you seriously. If you're a troll this is pretty funny. Hidden communism? "queers"? LOL..
Are you part of LE RESISTANCE????!!!??
Also you fucking idiots should go look up the myth behind that whole "SHARIA LAW IS TAKING OVER MY COUNTRY" bs. It's just not something the Muslims wanna do. Sorry! Do you think Jews are taking over too and gonna take your pork and shellfish away? Can we all just admit the brown people are scary to you because they're different and you're paranoid and probably untrusting of your government too? It's called being disillusioned and I hope your world view eventually catches up with modern times.
WOW, just WOW. I just wish all the recruits had together come to attention to honour that gentleman. I hope they remember that hero during their training when it get a bit tough and draw inspiration from him.
I know it's been 5 years ago and many of this intake have likely been to hot climates but I heard a saying that stuck with me and is one of my favourites. It is especially applicable to the Royal Marine Commando. *A champion gets up when he can't.*
Good saying. And these young recruits are going to learn that the point at which they can't get up is much much farther than they think now.
Thank you Sir , great advice.
Thank you young men for what you are doing for us.
Love and respect from me, an Irish soldier ☘️
Respect mate, well said.
He really inspired them, what a funny and kind guy
I scrubbed and buffed that bloody red tiled floor so many times.....
What a great war veteran he is, I could listen too he's stories all day.
Much respect.
he kinda reminds me of my great uncle when he was still alive, he fought against the Germans in the Dutch resistance. he would never really talk about it tough, due the things he saw/did back then. but he always kept the same kind of humor expression as i see on Ted Owens. its a shame his last years were so terrible for him due alzheimer
Love it. Respect.
What a fantastic man. A true old soldier with. a wealth of stores to tell. His green beret was his most proud possession. 60/70 years after getting it and it's still his most precious! That says it all. Those young lads would have been inspired by this. I know I was ! Beet of the best, second to none.
What a hero and what a legend
So much respect.
There’s a time i used to hanging out with my grandfather and he show me his base, all the troops stand up. Thank you for your service!
I hope the majority of those young 'lads' live to this fine gentleman's age and get the chance to talk to future recruits like this. :-)
honors and respects for all these vets
god bless this man love it
Enjoyed watching this
Nothing but respect, nothing shall ever make us forget.
God bless Ted
When the DI said "these are nowhere near that" I thought yeah standard haha
Respect, love the love for the beret by the Vet🙏🏽❤️
I doth my cap to you sir, upmost respect to him. Thank you.
I’m 15 and just been declared TMU for the marines until I gain 4 kg can’t wait to get into training
It’s a shame we won’t have those wise heroes for the younger generation they will grow up not knowing the men that saved their freedom
What a legend
Wow a true hero.
Respect
My grandad was in the Royal marines in ww2 he was a lovely old man but at 19 he had been a killer! I love and miss him.
Love our veterans
what a fucking legend!
My Uncle 'Andrew Neil Charlton' was 41 CDO on Sword Beach aged 18. Hoofing bloke.
At 18 years old I was still learning to wipe my own arse and these guy were going into murderous ground combat or flying bombing or escort missions over Berlin. It seems impossible that I would have made the grade and been capable of doing what they did.
As a future commando hopeful this was inspiring
How'd you do buddy?
RIP Ted 🎖️🇬🇧
That was nice. really nice!
This reminds me of Marine Week
I like how he can just show up whenever he wants to inspect them and they all must stand to attention for him.
WOW>>>>
great stuff
That’s a Légion d’honneur (French Medal of Honor) on his chest.
Super cleannnnnn
Damn this was moving
I've had some beastings on those red tiles
Welcome sair.
Bollocks think I got a bit of dirt in my eye 😢
You too eh? :-)
Same here. What a lovely bloke.
Jesus the induction block hasn’t changed a bit in 25 years!

Is the commandos a separate regiment from the British army on its own or is it like a normal regiment like the paras or Irish guards etc
aye they are part of our navy
@@buchan448 and there trained to a lot higher level than army infintry.
Seán Connolly navy. But! Highly skilled, disciplined and trained for land, sea and arctic warfare.
IMO, Royal Marine Commandos are Tier 2 SF. No disrespect to the Regular Army soldiers intended or meant. US SEALs are also Tier 2 except for DEVGRU who are Tier 1 like Delta. SAS are of course Tier 0, the top of the SF tree. 👍
Let the flames begin. 😁
I personally know ted he’s 94 and a bootneck through and through the dit’s he has a fucking hoffing
