Boogie man in the drainpipe we called it. I dont know how we knew to do it at 12 years old but we done it on a 3 story drainpipe shived a load of news paper up and the wall used to vibrate then shower embers out the top.
How about using a nichrome wire in a huge tube that resonates at 60 hz. To vibrate a diaphragm atached to a moving neodymium magnet inside a coil to power the heating element. Or just focas the sun to heat the screen and make a solar powered (not wind chime) but ( sun chimes )?
What kind of screen is he using? I’ve tried course steel, and fine aluminum. The longest I can get it to sing is about 10 seconds with the fine aluminum. He can keep this going for almost a minute. This would be a great demo to do in class if I could make it saying longer.

Hi Mr.Spangler do you have any idea How to cut glass bottle or tube glass, easy way and cheap DIY? thank you very much
one time I had a propane lantern and it made that sound I finally found out how it happened
I wonder would the same thing happen if you got the screen extremely cold?
could you make a mechanism that let's you extend the length of the pipe, and get like a metal-pipe-sine-wave-trombone?
rzeka cool
What if the pipe is de val nozzle shaped or like a hour Glass⏳️ ?
Hi Steve,
try using two almost identical pipes at the same time. This results in a spectacular beating pattern.
I see a Andrew Huang video in the making
Zadie Nguyen me too
Zadie Nguyen Ooooh. That'd be cool.

The sound is very scary.
It's called a Rijke Tube, and was discovered back in 1859.
What's the difference between demonstration and experiment?

ShadowAlmighty the same happens with me.
Just curious how "hot" the screen has to be, and since the effect lasts so long, could a electrically heated element create the same effect ???
Awwwww. Why didn't you heat up all three at the same time and have different people hold them and have them go at the same time?
love u from kurdistan of iraq
