Hey, Mr Ho, I was issued an iPhone gen 1 with an OtterBox Defender back in 2010 when I worked for GE Wind (turbines). Inside the turbines are 40' sections platforms. I dropped mine down tower to the platform below me (about 32'). My iPhone survived. I quickly ordered up OtterBox Defender for my guys.
Oh yeah! The Good Stuff. Back when Otterbox made cases that truly protected your iPhone. The new slimmer version they’ve made for the current iPhone 14 Pro series is no where near as protective as the Otterbox tanks of old.
That was impressive! It almost makes me think twice about recently purchasing a Lifeproof case for my iPhone 6. Too bad the Otterbox Defender isn't waterproof! Great videos!
+Shacoy King I thought I was the only one who noticed that , I figured they stretched the angle to make it look further and didn't pay much attention to the backdrop. I think now that's just the way the building is built ...
How many times before the reviewers finally learn? Phones in such cases don't get damaged from 10, 20, 50, or even a 100 ft throw or fall. They get destroyed if they fall 2-3 ft only and if it's accidental.
best case ever. i’ve thrown my old 5s like crazy, dropped it etc, in this case and not a single crack. it’s kind of a shame that they removed the built in screen protector. sure, it got greasy, dirty, and was a little annoying but i don’t feel safe without it. (i’m planning on buying the 11 with a defender case)
My iPhone 6 with Otterbox case flew off the roof of my car at 80 kph today, bounced high off the highway multiple times, and survived basically unscathed. Only a little ding in one of the corners where the case had already been broken by its previous owner.
How is the usage of the case like typing on the screen and getting to all the on screen buttons? I hear that is the complaint of the new iPhone 6 defender.
I have no problem with mine. Altho the side buttons like volume and sleep are hard to use. But I understand that it's cause of the strong material. I have the note 4 model.
I just got this new from the manufacture, still no fix for the screen protector which has been annoying me all day, but the stuff they used before that prevented the touch I.D to work 10% of the time seems to have improved a lot, I can use mine about 75-80% of the time now. The only thing I haven't seen mentioned in any of the videos yet is how hard it can be to press the home screen button and actually feel a click so you know the button is working properly.
That sucks that the iPhones are bending, Apple just wanted them to be super thin and super light without being structurally sound. Good video btw. Can you check out the waterproof cases like the life proof that is coming out in a while and the otterbox preserver or whatever it is going to be called. Thanks
Thanks for the comment. Every phone is going to bend. I did the same test with an Optrix XD5 and an iPhone 5S and it resulted in the same result. I will definitely be reviewing the new LifeProof and Preserver but I don't think I'll be doing 40 ft drops to them.
Superveggie 12 Well, I did get Apple Care so I was thinking that I'll beat up the iPhone a little more before getting a replacement. Think people would like to see how tough the actual screen is?
I would appreciate it if you can do a bend test for the iPhone 6 Plus using bare hands and applying different amounts of pressure. I love the way you do your reviews.
On the Otterbox Defender I bought from the store, there was a gap between the front plastic screen of the case and the iPhone 6 screen. I found you had to push harder or tap more aggressively to get the screen to respond. Really ruined the experience. Did you notice this issue?
Random question: does the screen protect actually protect the screen from cracking? I took mine off cause of all the dust it collects and I'll add a glass screen protector soon
I own a defender too . been using it for a year now dropped my phone many many times . No damage on the phone . The casing still looks good because I drop it table height most of the time .
I can't click on the links at the end of the video to see the Defender review. I also viewed a few of your other videos and the links at the end of the vids don't work.
My lord that thing went bent even within the case?! I have a defender for my 6 recently and thats disturbing . I'm hoping that lunatik release their taktik 360 then
You said the otter box commuter series is garbage, then explain to me why other phone youtubers drop (50ft) their Iphone 6 with the commuter case and it still works perfectly after being dropped.
Because most drop testers drop the phones flat with no spin, meaning the phone almost always lands flat (which so happens to be the "safest" way to drop a phone). The commuter series and defender series do not provide the same protection.
the volume button casing (the thin piece of metal on the side of these buttons) is bent a little but thats to be expected from such a hard throw. still im super impressed hense why i got the clone so i dint have to pay that otterbox brand tax
I just got the gold iPhone 6 today with an otterbox. From the Verizon store and I was wondering if you could make a video about the otterbox vs lifeproof in terms of functionality protection and bulxyness because I want to know if it's worth it for me to switch from the otterbox and go buy an 80 dollar lifeproof
Dude youre throwing it onto gravel. It renders the test void because the gravel will make contact with the screen if it lands screen first. You should just throw it on tar or a smooth surface.
I think ZeroLemon rugged case could survive that. It's very similar to the Otterbox Defender, just 3rd the price. They also have a slimmer type case for like $15
Get a Griffin Survivor or Ballistic Hardcore instead of the defender. For the Commuter, get the Thule Atmos X3.ruclips.net/video/HDhnFbMIwDc/видео.html
This review confirms the inherit design "flaw" of the iPhone 6. Even with one of the best Impact resistant cases in the business the phone still bent. I know this was an extreme test but past iPhones never failed with the Otterbox Defender. I own the iPhone 6 and it's still a great phone...except it's not as durable as past iPhones. In fact it's the weakest phone, structurally, than most of its competitors.
Thanks for the comment. The iPhone 6 is definitely weaker than the iPhone 5 structurally but the iPhone 5 was not indestructible either. In fact, we did two extreme tests with cases that I believe are much stronger than the Otterbox Defender (Optrix XD5 and Lunatik Taktik Extreme) and the bending on the iPhone 5S was greater than the bend in the iPhone 6.
MobileReviewsEh Yes, the iPhone 5 is not particularly durable especially the iPhone 4's all glass design. However, the iPhone 6 and to a greater degree, the iPhone 6 Plus seems to have genuine structural flaws whereby the reinforcement does not fully cover a specific area... the area that is most prone to bending as was evident in your video.
carl villarba it has a built in screen shield already, but if you really feel like it, you can put one on your screen before installing it into the case.
Why do you automatically assume that it's bent? There have been a handful of cases where it has bent because of being in a slim pocket without a case. So can you stop always saying. "I WONDER IF ITS BENT. IT BENDS LIKE BUTTER. Stop. Ok? Ok.
Probably not. The iPhone 6 I have is bent and I don't have anymore money to get it replaced. I've already done the drop test video for the Survivor and it's good for 6 ft.
Ok thanks i was just rginkibg about getting the iphone 6 and wanted to know what would be a better case the otterbox defender or the griffin survivor cuz my otterbox silicone rubber is sortof streched out on my 5s
trials_bike2000 Well, we'll definitely do a comparison video between those two cases. The stretching of the rubber is a a common problem with the Defender and I don't think Otterbox has addressed it with the iPhone 6 case. I've got a Ballistic Hardcore coming as well, it'll be interesting to see how that case fares as well.
As someone who has used the Defender for his iPhone 6 for a little over the month, I'd have to recommend against it. I'm currently looking at a Spigen case as an alternative. Here are my issues: - It's ugly, which would be alright if it protected your entire device, but it doesn't. It protects 90% of your device. Your cameras are exposed, and so are your audio and speaker ports on the bottom. - The screen protector rests about an eighth of an inch from the screen, which means that you'll hear it hit the screen when typing. - The screen protector also has an awkward bubble to accommodate the TouchID sensor, which you can see in the video, this leaves a 'ring' around that area that makes it look like the protector has scratched your device. - The volume and lock buttons are impossible to use without leveraging two hands in order to enough pressure to depress them. - You can't access any of your ports without using one of the 'flaps'. Want to set your phone to vibrate? Open a flap. Charge your phone? Open a flap. Plug in headphones? Open a flap; and keep it open. It gets tiresome and makes your phone look ugly. - The case actively impedes your ability to use the control panel. It might seem like the reviewer embellished how much the Defender gets in the way, but I'd say it happens 50% of the time I try to open it. Like I said, all of these issues might be forgivable if the case actually protected your entire phone, but it doesn't. It still has issues collecting dust, it leaves your front and back cameras exposed, all while the case actively interferes with your ability to use your device.
I simply don't understand such drop test. If a phone survive such a drop test, it only prove that the phone is good in the first place and not the case. If the phone cannot survive a small knock, no amount of case protection will save it. In this case, Otterbox defender DON'T PROTECT THE FRONT SCREEN but leave it OPEN. The front screen survived and it showed that Iphone screen is good and tough and has NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO with Otterbox protection because Otterbox case DONT PROTECT THE SCREEN AT ALL.
everything after the 4:00 mark was incredible!!
I know! I rendered and reloaded the video twice and RUclips still added all that blank footage at the end...
MobileReviewsEh it wasn't blank for me. I saw a glimpse into my soul.
Haukenslush :)
Haukenslush You're high again.
FrogLungs but there isn’t anything there?
Dude, that is a CRAZY Dr. Seuss- looking building in the background at 0:45! I've never seen anything like that here in America lol!
Go to MIT! You'll see some very unusual infrastructure around! Google it :)
YES
yea canada is essentially a giant Cartoon! jkjk
Oh shit! I missed that building entirely! That's so wacky :)
God I hate it when I throw my iPhone across it's so annoying
Right?
😭😭😭
Anger does crazy things
walking with brand new iPhone 6, I trip on a pancake, OPPS I DROPPED MY PHONE 40FT IN THE AIR GOOD THING I HAVE AN OTTERBOX!
Alexander Elia Heh.
Still tho your missing a point for the price buy a rugged phone it will last longer
That's why I didn't crack
In the first place
Happens to ne every day...
What's with the two mins of dead time at the end of the video?
Rain STORM let the man have his money.
sick artistic building in the background
Sick country in the background, eh!

That building in the background looks straight out a cartoon! Anyone know the name or address this was shot?
+Shacoy King I was thinking the same thing
+Shacoy King I thought I was the only one who noticed that , I figured they stretched the angle to make it look further and didn't pay much attention to the backdrop. I think now that's just the way the building is built ...
Tommie Cooper Yeah it's totally weird. Lol
+Shacoy King thats how some people build stuff in cannda
I thought the same aswell
How many times before the reviewers finally learn? Phones in such cases don't get damaged from 10, 20, 50, or even a 100 ft throw or fall. They get destroyed if they fall 2-3 ft only and if it's accidental.
Great Review Bro.
One of the Best I've Seen.
Totally Subscribed.
+luie Rdz :)
+MobileReviewsEh same nice videos man i watched some videos Your AWESOME I Subscribed
I like the way your videos are, like how you're so funny and nice about everything. You earned a subscriber! ;)
Thanks for the sub!
1:47 that house though
It use to be an old railroad storage facility I think. iStockphoto.com is located there now.
best case ever. i’ve thrown my old 5s like crazy, dropped it etc, in this case and not a single crack. it’s kind of a shame that they removed the built in screen protector. sure, it got greasy, dirty, and was a little annoying but i don’t feel safe without it. How is the usage of the case like typing on the screen and getting to all the on screen buttons? I hear that is the complaint of the new iPhone 6 defender.
It's no different than the Defender before. A slight gap, the edges at the bottom might get in the way of the control panel every once in a while.
And you can hear every tap on your screen. It's as if you've turned on a permanent screen click setting .
I have no problem with mine. Altho the side buttons like volume and sleep are hard to use. But I understand that it's cause of the strong material. I have the note 4 model.
I first discovered the toughness of otterbox as a kid when I got mad and slung my iPad like a Frisbee and it survived without a scratch!!
This video is awesome! I really want an iPhone 6 but I wouldn't risk myself to do these stuff! Gonna like this video!
Thanks!
I just got this new from the manufacture, still no fix for the screen protector which has been annoying me all day, but the stuff they used before that prevented the touch I.D to work 10% of the time seems to have improved a lot, I can use mine about 75-80% of the time now. Why leave the iPhone camera on if you're not showing the footage? What does that add to the review?
Just to show that the device is still functioning and not damaged near any of the technical properties of the phone.
The form on that throw was immaculate
What is that building behind you it's really cool
That sucks that the iPhones are bending, Apple just wanted them to be super thin and super light without being structurally sound. Good video btw.
Can you check out the waterproof cases like the life proof that is coming out in a while and the otterbox preserver or whatever it is going to be called.

I will definitely be reviewing the new LifeProof and Preserver but I don't think I'll be doing 40 ft drops to them.
Ok cool.
Are you going sell your kidney to get another iPhone or are you sticking with the damaged one for further tests?
Superveggie 12 Well, I did get Apple Care so I was thinking that I'll beat up the iPhone a little more before getting a replacement. Think people would like to see how tough the actual screen is?
defenantly
0:44 that gray building behind was made by some video editing right? there's no possible way such a high talent architecheture made that.
+ramush “Ramus” Steinitz Nope. That's a real building.
Wow. I BOUGHT DEFENDER PRO. ALWAYS TRUST OTTERBOX.
Subbed! I like your videos!
I would appreciate it if you can do a bend test for the iPhone 6 Plus using bare hands and applying different amounts of pressure. I love the way you do your reviews.
I probably won't, lots of videos out there. If I find a tough case though that prevents bending, I might do it.
I wonder if Aaron went to that cool looking building behind him
On the Otterbox Defender I bought from the store, there was a gap between the front plastic screen of the case and the iPhone 6 screen. I found you had to push harder or tap more aggressively to get the screen to respond. Really ruined the experience. Did you notice this issue?

+Eric Garcia yes.
I was thinking the same thing lol
Trippy af

I can't click on the links at the end of the video to see the Defender review. I also viewed a few of your other videos and the links at the end of the vids don't work.
I don't have a review up for the Defender. It's a place holder until the video gets loaded. Probably this upcoming monday.
My lord that thing went bent even within the case?! I have a defender for my 6 recently and thats disturbing . I'm hoping that lunatik release their taktik 360 then
It bent from a 40 ft drop. I really doubt that it's going to bend through the case on normal day-to-day usage.
***** Yes!
0:57 Anybody loving that grey building behind him?
You said the otter box commuter series is garbage, then explain to me why other phone youtubers drop (50ft) their Iphone 6 with the commuter case and it still works perfectly after being dropped.
Because most drop testers drop the phones flat with no spin, meaning the phone almost always lands flat (which so happens to be the "safest" way to drop a phone). The commuter series and defender series do not provide the same protection.
Will it protect against me slamming the side of my phone onto the side of a blunt wooden table?
you should throw it on the concrete or asphalt of the parking site. That will give more impact than on mud sand and pebbles.
The best part of the video starts at 3:58 tbh
Amandeep Gaba thanks
Wow cool video. But is that iPhone 6 plus? I mean It bend?
No, just the 6. I'm pretty sure the 6 Plus wouldn't have bent as well.
the volume button casing (the thin piece of metal on the side of these buttons) is bent a little but thats to be expected from such a hard throw. still im super impressed hense why i got the clone so i dint have to pay that otterbox brand tax
Very helpful video! Thank you!
Hey I loved this video I also subscribed but I was wondering, Is that your personal iPhone? If it isn't can you tell me how you got one?
It's my own.
Sure, give me a couple of weeks. I need to do the full review on the Fre first.
You do know that lifeproof is owned by otter box right
Teddy bonkers Yep but they don't share many designs. The LifeProof and Otterbox cases for the 5 were really different.
Anyone realize how on point his throw was for it to be in frame when it landed in the first part... lol
what the heck is that building in the background, did you photoshop that in or what
Nope. that's a real building.
They also have a slimmer type case for like $15
I've sent them an email. They're sending review cases!
MobileReviewsEh cool
Can you please review the Anker Ultra Protective Case, I heard that it's just like the Otterbox Defender but slimmer and a fraction of the price.
Do another otter box review for the iPhone 7+!!
I'll see.
At least they don't have that atrocious gap in the screen protector like for the iPhone 5S variant.
I can't decide between a defender or a xommuter, I want protection but not thickness. What should I do?
Get a Griffin Survivor or Ballistic Hardcore instead of the defender. For the Commuter, get the Thule Atmos X3.ruclips.net/video/HDhnFbMIwDc/видео.html
Thank goodness I have this case😂😂
Anyone else notice the building in the back? 1:48
I threw my iPhone across the street in the defender. Perfectly fine after
To the point Great review 👍🏼
I was like: :() (100 years later) :() how did you dare to do that
dirt and gravel absorb energy should have throw so it landed on pavement. Most people drop a phone on the sidewalk or home flooring, not gravel.
Canada blackout at 4:00? ;)
I have no idea why that happened. I rendered it and reloaded the video twice and I still have it...
WOW! What a building! What is the address please:) Never mind the case lol
Best case around!
Can you please do a Griffin Survivor case please.
This review confirms the inherit design "flaw" of the iPhone 6.

Can I put a Third party screen protector while using otterbox defender?
carl villarba it has a built in screen shield already, but if you really feel like it, you can put one on your screen before installing it into the case.
So what's the grey building in the background?
so, ghostek or defender would you recommend?
Why do you automatically assume that it's bent? There have been a handful of cases where it has bent because of being in a slim pocket without a case. So can you stop always saying. "I WONDER IF ITS BENT. IT BENDS LIKE BUTTER. Stop. Ok? Ok.
Because no iPhone that I've thrown 40ft in the air has not come out bent. Ok? Ok.
How about not commanding him to do things on his own channel idiot..
U have a best phone defender ohh
Can you do that for the griffin survivor for the iPhone 6?
Probably not. The iPhone 6 I have is bent and I don't have anymore money to get it replaced. I've already done the drop test video for the Survivor and it's good for 6 ft.

De'Angelo Thornton We agree!
I really like that building
cool building 0:57
Why would it bend in the case? Thank god I have the 6s+ it's reinforce unlike the 6+
Hola buen día 🌤
Me encantaría saber, como puedo comprar uno de estos protectores OtterBox? 🤔
Espero conteste a mi pregunta 🙏🏻😇
AMAZING, exactly how Lu?? from unbox threapy suggested. "it seems to bend at the volume rocker -- every time. " this is a design flaw on apple's side.
Did you see the consumer reports on the stress tests for the other phones? They bent like the iPhone's did.
are you wearing safety glasses for this test?
Nope. It's a pair of Pivothead glasses
Who the hell would throw their phone like that anyway
Well atleast now you know it can handle better.
Nice throw
As someone who has used the Defender for his iPhone 6 for a little over the month, I'd have to recommend against it. I'm currently looking at a Spigen case as an alternative.
Here are my issues:
- It's ugly, which would be alright if it protected your entire device, but it doesn't.
The iphone 6 has a bend gate problem that's probably why it bent
Can you get this case for the Iphone 5/5s ???
Yep
Thx
I simply don't understand such drop test. If a phone survive such a drop test, it only prove that the phone is good in the first place and not the case. If the phone cannot survive a small knock, no amount of case protection will save it. In this case, Otterbox defender DON'T PROTECT THE FRONT SCREEN but leave it OPEN. The front screen survived and it showed that Iphone screen is good and tough and has NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO with Otterbox protection because Otterbox case DONT PROTECT THE SCREEN AT ALL.
How come the camera was exactly were it he phone landed
Was it a iphone 6 or 6 plus???
Do some drop test with Samsung S8 plus.
Subscribed !!! Make more apple things !!!
Done! Thanks for subscribing!
that grey house in the background looks kinda weird
2:27 "Doesn't look like there's any damage"
Phone is bent near the volume buttons😂
How would they know that’s where the iPhone would land
Lol everything after 4 is where real usage comes to play
I rendered and reloaded the video twice so I don't know why RUclips decided to add 2.5 minutes of dead space...
Are you willing to sell that iphone 6
do the esr defender series case
what pov glasses are those
Pivotheads
Well it seems I'm getting this one, the others...nah. But I'm accepting any cases you didn't like!
I'm really surprised at how the Defender performed! Thanks for the comment Wilson!
Not bad at all
Thanks!
You didn’t throw it on the street
Wtf I dropped my iPhone 5c with a brand new otter box on it from less then a foot and it shattered
You probably got a ripoff like his commuter
I dropped mine 3 feet on the back, in the defender, and it shattered.
Lmfao are you sure?
i need to find cheap phones to do this :D
How do these ppl get so many iPhones ?
I buy them. Bust them. Sell them. It gets expensive quick.
