- Catching BIG STRIPED BASS with my good friend RICHARD GENE THE FISHING MACHINE while fishing below Guntersville Dam in Alabama ! ! !
Hey folks come along with my good friend Richard Gene and I as we go after some HUGE FISH below the dam using LIVE BAIT! This was a spur of the moment trip that turned into an EPIC afternoon on the Tennessee River, and y'all.... I may have turned loose an Alabama State Record ! ! !

That was an incredible wiper. The State record for Kansas was caught at Perry lake spillway and weighed 25 lbs. Never know that might have been a new record? Nice catch!!

I have the same rod, Duckett Micro Magic Pro series, awesome rod!!! That hybrid and saltwater were huge!!! Nothing beats a all natural swimbait!! Especially a yellowtail

My best hybrid was 11-4 in Tom Steed Lake Oklahoma, but we used to catch tons of them between 4-10 pounds. They fight so good, taste great too.
Loving it guys this was special I’ll be going to our spillway this week lord willing cannot wait that was a record hybrid we have big ones we catch plenty in the 10- 14 ib range my step dad caught a 16 ib one the other day but that one y’all caught was the biggest I’ve ever seen amazing catch !!!

I didn’t weigh the fish but just from the measurements it was around 30 lbs and that’s being conservative 😀🎣🎣

My good friend who lives in Pinoplis SC and I used to fish off the deck of the powerhouse and catch huge striped bass with 3oz bucktails on a hand line. We were young and stupid because it was illegal, we in college 1964/68 and thought that we would not get caught, OOPS SCDNR had a field day when we were walking back to our vehicle. Lesson learned have fun but have fun legally😂😂😂

I catch them up around the Dam along the wing walls and back in the barge canals and back in the creeks down from the dam.
