    Literally put a 17$ 25kg servo on my gen7 pro with a longer aluminum horn. Improved the steering lots

    Do you think the front axle can be moved back to prevent the rubbing? I have a Gen7 Pro (still waiting on my battery to charge), and I noticed the same thing just looking it over. It looks like there are adjustment holes, but this is my first RC since I was a little kid, so I am a bit out of my comfort zone for just trying to modify it right out of the box.

    • @1TenthScaleRC
      @1TenthScaleRC  7 лет назад

      James West at first glance I thought the lower links had one more notch you could go back to shorten wheelbase. Screw won't go in though. Worst case shorter links or a trim of the body should take care of it.

    • @1TenthScaleRC
      @1TenthScaleRC  7 лет назад

      James West congrats on the rig too, it's fun!!

      Thanks! Battery finally charged at 9:00pm, I took it out anyway! I got a little body rubbing noise, but I wasn't pushing it too hard. Took it through a gravel pile and a dirt mound at a new house construction across the street.

      Not sure exactly what this would entail, but saw a video of someone that did this and they said it improved the steering radius greatly: www.rccrawler.com/forum/redcat-rs10/590508-everest-gen-7-how-i-improved-my-steering-other-thoughts.html

    I'm thinking about this or the ecx barrage. What would be better? I'm on a budget.

    • @1TenthScaleRC
      @1TenthScaleRC  7 лет назад +1

      We don't have any of the ECX to play with but I've heard good things about. One complaint about the Doomsday version I've heard is the body cracks really easy. They're a bit smaller than an Gen7. Depending on where you crawl that could be no issue or a problem. Lots of big rocks, trees, etc would favor the Gen7, in theory. The Everest Gen7 is an awesome bang for the buck though. Sorry, wish I was more help but not having first hand experience with the ECX...

      I have both actually and run them together, its close to call.. i built the Barrage kit and like it a bunch it's not so small in scale to the gen7 pro, both 1.9 which is a great & built pretty tough I'm impressed so far. Flip a coin you can go wrong really.

  • @rockystoops4585

    Move the steering link out to the last hole on the servo horn. Then there is a little notch on the steering knuckles....you need to grind those off trust me. Look under the truck and turn your wheel and look at where the knuckle hits and u will see the notch. Grind those off. Ur welcome.😁

  • @thatsmyrc
    @thatsmyrc 7 лет назад +1

    Nice truck got a few myself and impressed as well. You can lower the axle (drop the shocks) will give you more clearance and raise your front body post one hole..you must be running stock battery? without switching anything on esc. I ran 3s first run and it was a blast :-) You can fit that turning too.. Put rear wheel steering lol..It very easy to do..

    • @1TenthScaleRC
      @1TenthScaleRC  7 лет назад

      Appreciate the input! Yep, stock battery for now. Hobbywing Brushless going in soon but might try lipo on the brushed setup first. Sounds fun!

    Plus it’s $270, has wheel wells, a roll cage under the body, bead lock rims, no body pins and super swampers stock!! To get to the $400 price of the other rigs I put in a 550 Holmes Hobbies motor, 3s Esc, Savox monster servo and fixed the steering angle. Now it kills my Vaterra K5 and Traxxas Bronco...

    I’m looking at one of these for my first solid axle based crawler. Is it a good starting point? I just sold my pede 4x4 and have exactly enough to buy a Pro, and I really love the looks. I’ll just be kinda running it out in the wild and in creeks and stuff like that.
    Btw. Love the Facebook page. I’ve got TSRC to go in the truck when I get it :)

    • @1TenthScaleRC
      @1TenthScaleRC  7 лет назад

      Definitely a good starter rig. Out of the box the only complaint I have is the steering, which can now be fixed for a few $ or a little more if you want to get some metal bits instead of modifying. As a trail truck it's great. If you're looking for a hard core rock crawler it needs a bit more tweaks - tires, suspension, and scale but reduction for weight reduction.

      The Unprofessional Hobbyist Idk if you already got something, but I would look into the Everest 10. Do a couple upgrades, and you have yourself a much more versatile crawler than this.

      The Unprofessional Hobbyist I said this above but it has wheel wells, a roll cage under the body, bead lock rims, no body pins and super swampers, I put in a 550 Holmes Hobbies motor, 3s Esc, Savox monster servo and fixed the steering angle. It’s now fast as hell, climbs anything and is indestructible

      KA KA ditto! Probably going with a class 1 size tire to help with that. Sounds like it's farting as it climbs.

  • @ShenRC
    @ShenRC 7 лет назад +1

    thinking of getting one but those huge pumpkins is the main reason I am hesitant they looks so huge like they would make it hang up on everything look how big and low they are compared to your axial trucks..... dont know why they made them so big compared to other crawlers?

    • @1TenthScaleRC
      @1TenthScaleRC  7 лет назад

      I'd guess more R&D time required to get them smaller which would increase costs. Especially with the diff protector I'd expect it to get hung a bit more than the 10IIs. So far it hasn't been a huge problem though.

    • @johnredcatturner4627
      @johnredcatturner4627 7 лет назад +1

      shenlonco ,they also have skid plates under the pumpkin balls so that's another reason they look so low to the ground bc of the plates

      I know you left this comment a couple of months ago, but I just ordered the gen7 pro and I should have it in a few days. Do you mean that they fixed the steering as in from stock mine should be better than what he’s describing in the video? I don’t really know anything about crawlers or RCs in general, this is my first hobby grade RC.

    • @nunyadambidness1444
      @nunyadambidness1444 4 года назад

      @@ehudsedge6389 cool cool and yeah some the first ones didn't use high steering links so the steering was virtually nothing the updated ones should all come with high steering link if not there's a little kit. only thing original on mine now is the frame lol c&c aluminum and steel gears and everything offered iv installed.its more like a working model lol You should also get the better front axles more like a real car CV axle the old ones you turn too sharp and they would lock up. Ok bud good. If I can help in anyway let me know. Enjoy bud. And oh yeah I put 12 mm spacers at each wheel and that gives it a nice wide stable base over stock setup. I'm going to post some videos soon but just to let you know I bought the sport and turned the sport into the pro just so I could tinker and learn about it I even put a winch on it lol with remote control ✌️✌️

    @WHOHATESTOWORK 6 лет назад +1

    The pro is half the price of the trx-4 and scx here in NZ,no way im payn $1k for a rc crawler thatl get used once every 2wks so the pro is ideal for me at $500,im not a comp or experienced crawler guy im more into drift and bash lol

    There is no comp between the Everest and the scx10 2, the axial blows it out of the water, way more durable too.

    • @1TenthScaleRC
      @1TenthScaleRC  7 лет назад +1

      SCX10II definitely has a leg up but the Redcat isn't too far behind. Took it out this weekend with a mix of SCX10, 10II, and Wraiths and it performed pretty well. Couldn't get some of the tight turns (even with VP Stage One kit now) but it didn't get left behind. The durability, while I agree Axial probably is the more reliable, is still up in the air - nothing broken on mine yet and it's been beaten pretty good. Transmission gears are next I think for the Gen7.
