If I had all the tools you had I would be in my workshop 24/7. Like, I would make a bed and sleep in it.
Hah! I guess I do have a lot of tools, huh?
Hello Dorian !
Sorry for this long silence, I'm always interested by your channel and realisations !!!
It's an amazing "100% wood challenge". What precision and beautiful technics for this Lapdesk. When I'm look this one, it's get the feeling of serenity, that inspired for me the Zen touch....
Sorry for my poor english language, I hope you understand !
I hope you will continue to realise these beautiful furnitures and make a lot of videos, for our pleasure
See you soon
Gwen
+Gwen HUBERT hi Gwen! Thank you for your kind words :)
The furniture is beautiful just as the music playing in the background
+Nicolas Johnson thank you!
Always amazed at your joinery skills Dorian, you and Mitch really make some great stuff when you challenge each other. I also noticed some pushing of a Japanese plane at 14:20 so I'm gonna have to check if that's legal or not haha!
+Timber Anew hehehe, thanks.
nice,god job bro..!!!
Thanks!
I love what you are doing, the real stuff. I notice some of your layout lines on the dovetails How do you feel about them. Your justification with respect to perfect. I aspire to this level of craftsmanship Thanks
Thank you very much! To be honest, they annoy me, but I didn‘t have the time, since this was for me and didn‘t directly pay any bills...
you can also use that as a tv dinner tray while eating a 4 course meal in bed! I want it, NAY, i NEED IT.
+Cosmo it has become an irreplaceable asst in our hosehold :)
Well I am torn, I love the joinery and the drawer on this, the drawer lock is great. I also love how Mitch Peacock's version can be folded flat. Its a tie!
+Tony Jaros hehehe, thanks Tony ;)
awesome.
+ChrisWil Shoemaker thank you!
Hey Dorian, do you live in another dimension? LOL beautiful work man!
+Zorro in Hell hehehe, thanks!
Очень интересная работа.
Beautiful as always! Always look forward to see a video from you :) quick question, what is that table saw called? I can’t seem to find a sliding table saw online like that. As much as I hate to. I would eventually like to have some power tools for the dimensioning process. Also, congrats on 60k!!! Seems like I was here since 1k. You exploded. Well deserved :) you do incredible work.
+Seth's Project than you Seth! This table saw is an Austrian machine. In the US they don‘t typically have this style of saw. It will be hard to get, but not impossible!
Hermoso mueble. La perfección se llama- Dorian Bratch.
Love your work.
As a beginner, I don’t know some of the tools you use.
Could/would you do a tool showcase video with explanations of the tools?
And who makes your chisels and saws?
+fyneyoungstunna thank you!
Probably not, but maybe I will in the future.
Dope...
Thank you
I simply love your chanel and i want to be a carpenter as you work
+Andrei Charpentier Quesada thank you :)
Sehr gute Arbeit! In den nächsten Jahr möchte dort ich einen Praktikum machen.
Danke! Praktikum mache ich leider noch nicht :(
Dorian Bracht Ich mache jetzt eine Ausbildung als Beruf "Fachpratiker für Holzverarbeitung" im Berufsbildungwerk Oberlinhaus. Ich bin jetzt in den 1.Lehrjahr.
Just coming to this video, longtime follower-- another beautiful piece. If you're still checking comments, I would love to know what wood or technique you used for the dovetail pins... have problems in my work with wedges/pinnings splitting the work, making me a bit traumatized in sizing both male and female portions of a wedge/pinning. Seems like your lock-pins were surprisingly oversized and you had no problem persuading them like dowel-making on steel plate. Thanks and hope you're well!
Amazing work. Next piece you make, make it out of some really beautiful wood. You spend so much time and talent making a piece like this, but the wood is cheap!
+Clarion the wood is oak, and not exactly cheap ;) I like Oak a lot!
There is an amazing amount of pride on using domestic, even local wood. It speaks sustainability and a care for your immediate surroundings. Also the wood in the forest down the road is, to me, more beautiful than the exotic purple blue alien wood from god knows where. Nice work @dorianbracht! Love the videos!
Lovely piece of furniture. How do you manage with Japanese chisels on dovetails and not bruising the corners as the have large side flats. Have you ground the sides of your chisels?
Thank you! No, I angle the chisels while chopping the corners.
Great piece! Why did you got for 2 angled pegs per dovetail instead of a single centered woodnail through the vertical side of the tail into the top board?
Thank you! Because you can retighten them in the future and the pressure coverage isn’t just in the middle. Plus it looks way better ;)
What brand of table saw is in the video at 1:39? I just bought my first table saw, a Robland X31 a 1995 model, and it looks very similar. Thanks for the video's, learning to do scarf joints. Building a shed in the back yard to put the saw and other woodworking equipment in that I will soon be acquiring.
The saw is a Felder from Austria. I am based in Germany, so we use slightly different machines.
omg i need a lapdesk for the bed not only for the laptop but use to sketch on as my current desktop/workspace isnt quite set up as my chair has gotten old and the hydrolic died which sits low. since im on a budget maybe ill just laminate a bunch of mdf scrap sheets laying around
Nice! Go for it! I love mine :)
Can i get the scratchy (in deep Draw) amayzing Work!
+Bonsai CNC thanks!
Красиво). Но как ведёт себя конструкция при изминении влажности, допустим как у нас в ЕАО? От сухой зимы до мокрого лета.
