    Dr wendi mam
At 1:49 u said even 3 carbon has phosphate group.
    But it doesn't have
The phosphoric acid is easily attached to non ring carbon which is 5th carbon and the bond is ester bond.[alcohol (OH) of 5th carbon and phosphoric acid (OH) - RCOOR'].
That becomes 1st nucleotide and dna polymerase can now bring 2nd nucleotide which also has phosphate on 5th carbon via ester bond (phosphoester)
Now the 2nd nucleotide phosphate also form another ester bond with 1st nucleotide 3 carbon.
These 2 ester bonds formed by a single phosphate is what forms backbone of DNA and RNA called as phosphodiester bond.
And u go on increasing the chain length and eventually 3rd carbon on last nucleotide doesn't form ester bond bcoz it don't even have phosphoric acid attached with it.

Hi Wendi! One of your Pre-Health bio students here. Thank you for your wonderful and informative videos. You've certainly inspired me. All first term, I've been wondering about that tattoo on your arm? What is it?

Oh cool, I am glad you like the videos :) My tattoo is my favorite hormone....it causes people to bond, care, connect, have empathy and trust, also produced in huge amounts during childbirth...can you guess what it is?
