I've finished XV multiple times and still playing it today from time to time and I'm still bothered why they ditched this insomnia invasion part cause this is just awesome and feels so cinematic
I'm also bothered by the cancelled DLCs. I wish we XV fans got to see the alternate ending. It was instead adapted to a book. It feels like Square enix abandoned the game when Tabata left...

Watch dogs has already been downgraded in quality since they started showing it off in the trailers. There is plenty of reason to believe that the ps4, even though it's powerful, will have to make sacrifices.

YakuzaFan Watch Dogs has been downgraded for consoles, significantly. And it's no surprise either considering that at this point the PS4 is nothing more than a midrange computer with better RAM.

not even really better ram, all graphics cards have ddr5 ram. I mean I love to ps4, but lets not pretend that it is the pinnacle of graphical performance. While I spent twice as much on my pc, I get a hell of a lot more performance. And I would like to be able to use that performance.
I swear, Final Fantasy XV & Kingdom Hearts III are the ONLY reasons why I'm getting a PS4 this year.

There are many other games i am excited for on PS4. Such as Infamous,Destiny and Metal Gear Solid. BUT from the games that have been announced up until now FF XV and KH3 are by FAR my most anticipated titles. FF XV in particular looks eye melting! It's unbelievable how an open world game can look THIS good. And that combat system just seals the deal for me. I wouldn't be nearly as hyped if this was a boring turn-based fest. I just hope SE will release this game already,or at least some INFO.
I love the KH series, especially the gameplay mechanics, but always wanted an FF game to play like that without being cartoony or mash up with disney. Huge enemies, real time fighting while changing swords on the fly, air combos, 2 companions who assist you with their unique abilities, teleporting and hanging off the side of buildings?? hell yeah. sparks the imagination.
My great-grandkids are gonna love playing this on their PlayStation 15.
Hopefully this will be worth the 9-10 years wait !
If there is no summons like 7,8 or 10 ill skip this game like ff13 . Summoners make the game more cooler

clouduos ...what? first of all there are summons confirmed and they are ranked in a hierarchy and if this is the case then there will be quite a few summons. Second the VII,VIII team are behind this game so why wouldn't they? and Third out of all the amazing things in this games a minuscule thing like summons will keep you back....ok.
Over 10 years since FFX, in my opinion the last great FF. I can not express enough how much I need FFXV to restore the franchise.
I really think so! I am not angry with the change from turn based rpg to an action rpg, furthermore, it can be like a blow of fresh air for the franchise, and the game looks really amazing! One of the reasons I am going to buy a ps4

The fact that you can make an iron giant drop its sword, then completely impale it with it made me love this...I really hope that part doesn't change.
But the parts that really got me hooked was just watching Behemoth and Leviathan in general. I cannot wait for this game to finally come out :D
What worries me about the iron giant part is that it looks scripted. I would like for it to be player controlled, not like a Quick-Time event or something.

***** Maybe it's a possible scripted action sequence for the brute dude in your party when you make the Iron Giant drop the sword. This isn't the first time it happened. Kingdom Hearts had it too.
Even the "defend Noctis from Behemoth" seems the same. I'm betting it's just to add flavor to the game mode.

It was a bad idea to leave it to Tabata's arms.
This was never a part of the game that was actually realized, at this point the development of the game barely started.
That doesn't mean it was faked or prerendered (the Altissia stuff was though) , this was how the game played at that point you can definitely see alot of unfinished jank if you closely.
The trailer is basically just them throwing a bunch of enemies and assets at random on the capital map they had as a test to showcase the combat.
So does this mean no more turn based combat? MUST...BUY...GAME

***** I just read the interview and was worried...at first. Tabata's example with fighting the behemoth had me at ease. tl;dr, easy-to-control battle mechanics are implemented so then the players can deal with strategy without having to worry about controls.
Comparison: BlazBlue vs Mortal Kombat. BlazBlue had much easier input so that all the players have to think about is timing/strategy during the fight, as opposed to MK which the learning curve for memorizing moves are far more abstract and obtuse for casuals, therefore cutting off accessibility.
So, easier user input, but great depth with strategy. I'll take it.
By the way, I know the combat looks lack luster in the TGS trailer when compared to E3's, but I'm under the impression that the TGS trailer is mainly an ad for Episode Duscae, which covers the early parts of the game where advanced skills haven't been learned yet. I'm willing to bet Noct will be zipping around much faster as he starts leveling up.
I keep thinking the last scene with Noctis hiding from the Behemoth means that fight went South and they had to retreat. Which actually makes things even more exciting.

***** More of a Kingdom Hearts gameplay than DmC you can obviously see a battle menu in the corner of the screen where you can choose items spells or summons just like in Kingdom Hearts which btw the battle designer for Kingdom Hearts is helping the devs with this game. DmC God Of War and other hack n slashes are all on there own genre, This game will have Rpg elements which DmC does not although I like DmC very much.

oh, I did figure something out. this isn't like chain of memories, where you have to rely on decks, it looks like there's a weapon switching system at about 2:01 to 2:05 he switches intentionally, and keeps the weapon in hand through a few attacks. there also seems to be a hand to hand combat system, as demonstrated throughout the trailer.
you can see the same thing at 2:25 to about 2:28, and he switches without attacking at about 2:35 or so.
there also seems to be a type of limit finishing attack specific to certain enemies, like at 2:48.
the whole combat system seems to be a mashup of ff12 and 13's, and kingdom hearts, given the ridiculous amount of mobility that you have, and despite being an RPG, it has free roam elements, and a kind of party backup system, where his comrades save his ass, like at 2:24.
all in all, I don't think anyone has seen a game of this caliber, ever.
I would not actually cite XIII as one of the similar battle systems but would rather cite Crisis Core FF7, and Type-0. The swapping of weapons seems similar to the Materia control system in the game plus the swapping of party members also seems to match up with Type-0. That's only my opinion though and you're free to disagree.

Yeah, some elements of the old games were good. Loved flying around the world in the Snes games. Have they really got rid of the world maps for good? I haven't really played since IX. I tend to watch Spoony's reviews for the new ones.
starting from X they removed the world map, so IX was the last FF to have a world map with flying airships.

The game play style is currently the same thing as Kingdom Hearts. You select from a command menu and move around, with no cinematic to combat, how FF has been played over many years.
Civilx To be Honest, this looks like a mix between kingdom hearts gameplay, and prototype. Nice flowing combat, a lot of verticallity. I will also say in the other trailer they showed a rather detailed minimap, making me thing that this might be open world. Which would be all the more pleasing to me.

The reason it plays like Kingdom Hearts is because the development team is mostly composed of the team that produces Kingdom Hearts games. Having said that, a decent percentage of the blame for the wait for Kingdom Hearts III can also be given to this game. I'll still take the wait for KH3 if FFXV turns out anywhere close to as good as these trailers make it out to be.

From all these comments I take it no one here played Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core which is one of the best Final Fantasy games out. And yes it was an ARPG

So long as the switch away from turn based combat isn't forever, I don't see a problem with shaking things up if they can pull it off, which all signs indicate they definitely have. Looking forward to it.

The soul of Final Fantasy is in every game. Even the spin-offs, (yes, even the horrible FF13 spin-offs). I played and completed every final fantasy with ffv being my least favorite. People are talking about story, but FF1 was all about gameplay and the story was based on two extreme opposites who met each other only on boss battles. I'm a true Final Fantasy fan, I have braved each of the 14 main worlds of Final Fantasy and I can tell you that FF15 is the most promising to date. Look at how it evolved, just read the sentence "This is a fantasy based on reality." look at the paradox and the complexity of this potential world and story. The whole Light/Darkness romance idea is very appealing as well.

I'm one of those people who had lost faith in the series at some point. However, I have been looking forward to Versus 13 (now XV) since it was announced around 2006 if I remember right. If anything is going to restore faith in the series as far as I'm concerned, it will be this one.
For whatever reason, FF 13 just did not appeal to me. Whether it was the bright and colorful aesthetic, the linear gameplay, convoluted story, or some combination between, I cannot say.
FFXV seems to be the opposite in many ways. It has a darker atmosphere, supposedly it will be open world, and the story seems a lot more straight-forward in human terms of love and betrayal. Not to mention the real time battle system that seems to emulate "Advent Children." I'm totally into this.
Well, I found FF13 (as a standalone title) to be one of my favorites, right up there with FF6. But think about it, a franchise that constantly reinvents itself has brought us many things to adore. Some people just couldn't believe the change between FFX and FFXII and yet FFXII is an amazing game. I mean, devs must have gotten sick of the ATB turn based system. FF13 was actually fluid in combat, and unlike FFX-2(just to give as an example), you had to do more than just press X. The whole paradigm thingy was awesome. One wrong move and your party would be dead. It reassured that you needed to keep constant attention to the battles without actually thinking too much, you needed to react to its development almost instantly. FF12 on the other hand did both things at once. Combat was fast and fluid, however if you wanted to play it hardcore you needed to react fast and think a lot about your next move at the same time. Its just a matter of taste.
3 years later and I can't believe how wrong you were. Absolutely none of this is in the game. It is incredibly laughable. Respond as you might but you can't lie this time.

I don't care what type of game it is. It can be an action game, an RPG game, a beat 'em up game or a fighting game. As long as it has fantasy elements, they better come up with a damn good story.

Wondering but has anyone actually tried to translate this trailer? i haven't seen one subbed on of this particular trailer. This trailer could have important story bits or atleast show how a convo between 3 buddies would be had during many fights. Nomura did say that these convo's and interactions between your freinds would be very prominent throughout the game so can someone please sub this!?

This insomnia invasion was the biggest hype I got for this game and it's not in the actual video game. Damnit lmao. But I still love FFXV. I just hate that the true ending never made it to the game because Tabata and Square have a fight or smething. Truly a missed opportunity for us FFXV fans.

Something I found out that is yet another reason I am so buzzing for this game is that the guy who voices Natsu in Fairy Tail will be voicing Prompto! (the guy with the blond hair)

Actually, scratch that, it of course doesn't matter to us poor sods in the west, we'll be getting the crap English dub. But let's just leave it at this: I really, really, sincerely hope that they put an option in to use the original Japanese voices.

L1/LB Brings up Shortcut Character attacks *Only for that character*
Face buttons (Maybe) D-pad can be pressed to activate whatever attack is assigned to them.
R1/RB Brings up Shortcut Spells that the Character can use

Then we have the normal Command Gauge you can cycle with using D-pad
L2/R2 & LT/RT makes you switch characters on the fly!
I can smell the combo's!!! and strategies! i also have a feeling he actually might do this ad it does make the battles intense, adds sensation of speed aswell as can be strategic!
Ex. Cor goes up presses L1/LB, presses Circle/B to do (Insert Katana special) dealing DPS while Prompto is far away dealing damage with his sniper using 3rd person view(Prompto can use the LB/L1 to go into third and L3/L? to Zoom), Noctis can be DPS aswell(Could of replaced Gladio the Tank with Cor..oh well). I can also see Certain attacks dealing a certain ailment on the enemy.
This is honestly just a more REAL (in terms of real time gameplay,emotions,burdens and circumstances) FF then others how you know in the end the heroes will win as well as the hero's always positive outlook on the situation(FFVI-FFXII seemed more real though). This Final fantasy will delve extremely deep into human emotions and show a more realistic human side to our heroes and i think thats why it will be more dark. In terms of Gameplay he wants us to feel EVERYTHING the characters are doing and thats why its real time gameplay,dynamic cutscenes, epic scale boss battles and completely seamless because THAT is what FF is. FFXV will go beyond the immersive line into new territory for FF. FFXV literally is a realtime FF from the PSX era. Noctis is looking to be one of thee most Darkest characters in FF to date...His father is Dead,Kingdom taken/fallen not to mention Eyes that see when a person will die leading to MANY dark emotions like Rage,Vengeance,Hatred and even Madness. Nojima is writing(FFVII,FFVIII,FFX & FFXII), Yoko Shimomura is composing (The Female Uematsu), FFVII/FFVIII teams,KH team & FFtype-0 team. This is the REAL evolution of Final Fantasy and has every bit of tradition FF in it...your just not looking.

I think that this game is going to have a more complicated combo use. I think for one combo you'll have to press:
Triangle/Y for a downward lash, Circle/B moving the left analog stick right for a horizontal slash etc. Want do you think about that? You have really good ideas.
I think that would be a bit complicated and hard to handle when facing multiple enemies while switching,managing other characters and trying to do combos etc. When pressing the normal attack button i think the character will attack however they want. Noctis will probably use warp when for ex.
A character is far away and you press the attack button, Noctis might warp to them and slash INSTEAD of attacking the air just for effect and to move in closer NOT taking up the warp meter in the corner because its not a FOCUSED warp.
An example of this is in the announcement trailer(but again i could be completely wrong as i'm just stating a reasonable highly possible attack layout).
True. Well maybe you could just use Circle and Triangle for different attacks, X for jumping and Square for blocking and rolling?
Also, you know when Noct was using that flame spell? I think a shortcut was used there.
That could definetly be a possibility...actually im sure that might be the case but as for using the analog with the face buttons as i said would be very difficult in the long run. Im not very very sure about what he used there, looked like he switched to the other menu (remember in KH you could switch menu's by pressing left or right on the D-pad?) ex

After 8 fucking years, I'm still surprised to how little we have seen of this game. Every trailer they show is a montage of one instance. I still have no clear idea to how big this game really is gonna be.
This is basically my dream game come true. Especially the knights with guns part, I dunno why, that just always weed interesting. Definitely gonna check this game out.
Please... I want a PC release. And even though i live in Europe, i want to be able to have english subbed with japanese voices.

it was an interview with tetsuya nomura we will be able to use cars boats airships again he also stated that there will be caves but wont be able to explore the mountains you know skyrim status

I'm not understanding the hate for this game. What I'm getting is that fans just might not know how to adapt their taste to evolution. Things are going to change and they're right for changing the FF series. I'm a fan of FF but their main point isn't obviously action or fighting/hack & slash. Maybe that's what they were shooting for all along or just felt like making something else different. We all know it's probably going to be story based anyway like every other FF. Give them credit for spending hours upon hours making a what seems to be like a good game.
Exactly. With this game being 7, close to 8 years in development, I'm certain that Nomura knows what he's doing, what he wants, and how to appeal to FF fans with this game. Change and evolution has to happen with video games, no matter what the franchise.
Gamers complain about video games repeating old, overused formulas and crave something new. Yes, Final Fantasy XV may have the same action-RPG gameplay and feel to it as Kingdom Hearts but this is a brand new direction for a Final Fantasy game. Square is trying to appeal to more people than just the hardcore FF fanbase with this work which, in the end, is good for the company. The more people they can get into FF through this game, the more money they can make and this will encourage them to make better quality FF games.
And plus, when was the last time somebody like Final Fantasy for it's GAMEPLAY? Final Fantasy games are known for their awesome storytelling, characters, and universes. This game seems to have all that plus more and a more mature, darker, and adult theme. I really don't know what more you could possibly ask for...

REALGamer890 Nobody plays final fantasy for the gameplay, that is the biggest load of horsecrap i have heard ever... who in their right mind would play a game of 60-70+ hours, which most final fantasy games are, if they didn't like the gameplay!? Take for example crisis core, it was a hack & slash game with no varitation in gameplay, you just spam X, while a slot machine in the corner randomly cast spells for you, i simply couldn't bother to play it to the end, so i watched a dialogue/cutscene compilation on youtube instead to get the story. FF7 i have played like 5 times allready, cause it's so replayable, and the game mechanics are solid.
Radenshaal I don't play RPGs (especially FF) for gameplay. It's funny that you mention Crisis Core you just spam X. I love FF7, but you can win 90% of battles by just spamming attack and heal. It may not be the case for you, but a lot of people don't care at all about FF's gameplay. If they wanted challenging turn-based gameplay, they'd be all on SMT and stuff.
KoopaOviasu then perhaps they should skip the gameplay all together then and go into cgi movies, if apparently I'm the only one who cares about the gsmeplay aswell as the story. I just can't imagine that I'm the only one who loves the gameplay of FF series out of the millions who play them.

It would be awesome if, in the next gameplay demo, we'd see how Noctis summons Leviathan. I've noticed how different enemies has a unique approach when battling them. I noticed when Noctis used the "Multiple weapon" attack on the soldier, it's different when it was used in the Iron Giant.

Auriansmule if you notice at 0:45, they resemble Cloud, Zack and Angeal from FFVII. Plus seeing these FFXV characters also wield big swords, I'm pretty sure they copied FFVII in terms of design.
I'm a little skeptical here, it's quite hard to tell how much input there actually is. But hey, it can't be worse than 13's battle system.

The turn-based combat was the only thing that kept me back from the franchise, i've always thought, "If the combat was like Kingdom Hearts i'd love this series" And now it looks like it'll finally happen! What about the original Crysis on PC?
I'm no PC-gamer so I don't really have any other references to compare it to, but I mean in general, some games already look so good nowadays, you can't make them noticably better. There won't be graphical jumps like from PS1 to PS2 or PS2 to PS3 anymore.
***** Look at some of the stuff that's coming to PCs in the near future; they will continue to improve textures, lighting, etc. Before long, a lot of that will be available on consoles as well. I think it will continue to improve to the point that it will resemble reality. However, there were crazy graphical improvements like you mentioned; we definitely won't see graphics improve as quickly as they have in the past.

Heisen Berg I wasn't saying that it's still the best looking game; I was implying that it looks better than FFXV. The best looking game currently would probably have to be Crysis 3 or Metro: Last Light.
FINALLY, this game has a great story, mechanics, characters and it needed a different combat style for a while now!! i'm totally sold for this game not only cause its final fantasy, but it has a really awesome gameplay feel

This game looks incredible. I can't believe FF fans for hating when right in front of them is one of the most incredible games ever made. If you want your turn base system then go play the other Final Fantasies, there are plenty of them. You need to give Square space to breath and make what they are planning because if I was Square I would be sick to death of all you people moaning when they are trying their hardest to bring us a quality experience so please, shut up and move on

never played a FF game before, this may sound stupid, but I always hated turn based, and now that this isnt turn based, Im going to buy it and get into FF, this looks interesting from a non fanboy of FF games, keep that in mind. It attracts the non casual players.

I disliked the look of turn based as well tbh. I got into FF through 13... And trust me, I went back to check into some of the older games of FF like X and the turn based system really put me off looking at it through videos and stuff. However, when I got the ACTUAL game, after the gameplay really kicks in, the battle system becomes soooo great! Really, you should give them a go! I do agree, that FFXVs battle system looks more appealing than the previous turn based and will of course be so much better! :)
But as much as turn-based, commanding to attack (tactical RPG) is also boring. And it says Action RPG on its Wiki page... I wonder if there is any chance for them to remove commanding "feature". Camera also seems like too low or something, making it feel like less of an open world game. I was planning to play FFX-XII-XIII series' until an hour ago and then watched the videos... While this is much better, commanding to attack still feels SO annoying. And the story needs to be as good to make it bearable (like in DA:O) which seems hard so far. I hope I can enjoy this game when it comes out...

Turn based? nope. it's called Active time battle(ATB system) which most FF games had (it started way back in FF5). It's different than turn based, like what most older RPG's used.
Only very few FF games like FF10 had turn based and felt slower.
And if you guys "dig" this play style, why dont you play Kingdom hearts series. right up your alley of action
Lol who ever says Final Fantasy is dead is an idiot. If anything, the franchise will be growing larger than ever, the evidence being this gameplay trailer. This is only the beginning of the 4th Gen, so imagine the extent of quality that Final Fantasy games will hold towards the end of the PS4's generation. Final Fantasy has only been taking a somewhat break if anything, and with the return of KH3, the release of FF Lightning Returns AND FFXV, Square Enix is bringing things back to the table ;')
