Relatable doesn't only mean relatable to people under 25 or whatever. Holding on aggressively to youth is hopeless. There are a lot of relatable millennials with huge followings who wouldn't show up on these kinds of videos.
The internet gives us a very warped view of the real world out there. Most of us are passive consumers, but there’s that little crowd that is so loud that they’re all we can virtually see and hear, let it be politics, consumerism or whatever, we forget that what we see online is not a representation of all of society in real life, it’s only facets that contribute to the bigger picture. These millennials are the few attention hungry theater kids that peaked in high school, no normal person behaves like that.
This is so important to remember. I see all this discourse about Gen Alpha and kids nowadays and how screwed they are, but as someone who works with kids, they're fine. Yea our systems have issues and society has things that need fixing, but most kids are not sephora kids who can barely read. Most kids are the exact same they would've been 10 or 20 years ago. Their conflict resolution just needs a little extra work because they lost time with their peers at a young age, but at this point they've been recovering from that for a few years. Kids are kids, whether they have the internet or not. They still do things like playing "gymnastics princesses" , or "house/family", and manhunt/tag. i'd just like to say that as a teenage gen z, the silly s thing was 100% a throwback for me too, people were doing that all the time when i was in elementary lol
As a mid millennial, this isn't millennial humour - this is infantile humour, and attempt at relate to kids. Also, there are gen Zs making similar content and it's just as bad. Normal people in their 30s-40s do not find this funny, or "cringe" - just embarrassing. Millennial humour, I would say, is dry, dark humour, mostly about trying to cope with life being fucked up... Also housing prices, which are an inexhaustible well of jokes (unlike the actual housing stock), and mocking green Z or alpha for reinventing cringey fashion from when we were their age.
I first read 'As a mild millennial' and thought that was a pretty good way of claiming the title without agreeing to some of the nonsense associated with it. 👍🏻
yeah, i feel like if anything is typically millennial, it's the "we're fucked, lol" attitude that comes with growing up and starting to work within an economy that got hit by a few consecutive economic crisises. also a lot of us had heartless boomer parents that were only concerned with their jobs and didn't teach us anything at home. no skills, no values. millenials are the most diy generation just because we are the poorest. i feel like gen z grew up a little more sheltered. millenials had the luxury tho of being kids and teens in the most prosperous and peaceful decade in the last one hundred years or so(90s) but because our parents were only concerned with wealth, we still fumbled the bag. i think another reason why millenials are seen as rather childish is that we got infantilized by the older generations way into our 20s. i remember distinctly how my parents made actually fun of me when i started to dress and act more adult. a lot of boomers never stopped treating their kids like 12 year olds, and i feel like that lead to many millenials think "fuck it, if it's like that, why fight it." i feel for gen z and alpha too tho, because the world is going into a shitty phase, and they will probably experience more turmoil, war and violence in their lives i'm afraid.
I remember when we were all still talking about the atomic clock and bombs you that’s why gen X are so tuff and we are there little brothers and sisters my brother and sister are gen X so our lives when we were kids weren’t much different. I was 16 when I got the first moter roller mobile telephone we didn’t even have a computer so the people that can’t put down or switch there shit off are going to be the worst off.
Aren't we still talking about the atomic clock and nuclear bombs? USSR might be gone, but I don't think we actually ever left the 'potential self-inflicted nuclear extinction' woods
I once saw someone say that millennials act so weird because we all watched Jim Carrey growing up and he's the king of weird. That'd make sense to me lol
I watched Jim Carrey in the Once Bitten and Earth Girls are Easy era. He was originally more of a pretty boy, and became more of a weirdo as time went by. This backs this theory up, actually. Gen Xers received less weird JC, and each Gen got more.
Yep and they had the audacity to call ME the "gutter brain" when I pointed it out... like they weren't full-on MOANING while chewing food lmao come on now
as one of the last born millenials I literally don't get this trend because nothing makes me more angry than baby voice and face comedy... so yeah... this video was very hard for me to watch 😓
I don't think anyone gets this "trend" - I was born in 1990, honestly, most people my age don't really identify as millennials unless we're doing so as a joke, so people who do self- identify as "millenial" are probably just weird people to start with. It's actually super weird for me to hear people my age and younger talking about "millennials", I associate the term "millennials" with suggesting that a person could afford a house if they stopped buying avocados.
@@squibkibback around 2011-2014ish there were a ton of boomer articles about how millennials were buying avocado toast instead of buying a house or paying bills. It came on with the hipster trend. Avocado decor was also ‘all the rage’ around that time kind of like lemons in the 90s and pineapples a few years ago
I feel like the set would've been better if... 1. She didn't start the set by saying "anxieties" 2. Her delivery wasn't so animated. It becomes distracting super fast and you can't even focus on what she's saying. It's not a great set regardless but I would have significantly less brain damage then what I got from it.
I was growing on Andrei Tarkovsky movie humour, Aleksandr Pushkin, Gogol, Tolstoy books... That's why you guys are dumb, probably.;D Hi from Eastern Europe.
"Cringe is not being afraid to be yourself" I think this is so true especially when the people who criticize harmless actions have insecurity about their own identity.
Those are elder millennials. We don’t claim them. They are Simba’s dark shadowy place to the rest of us. My friends and I were born at the very tail end of the millennials. We are nothing like this.
Most elder millennials don’t act like this either. Several of these people were younger millennials too, so your argument doesn’t work. This isn’t actually a generation thing, this is a vocal minority of millennials that act this way, just like how the worst examples of other generations are in the minority too. It’s really weird to act like all older millennials are like this, and call them “Simba’s dark shadowy place to the rest of us”. Again, these people do not represent older millennials. Secondly, you do not speak for every younger millennial. Most younger millennials I’ve met don’t have this strange prejudice for the older members. But you seem to think you and your friend speak for them and every one else who just happened to be born closely to you. That’s bizarre, and speaks of a lack of self-awareness. Which is similar to how some of the people in the video are. Not to mention your Disney reference is very much like the “Disney adult millennial” stereotype. I know this is coming off harshly, but I’m not saying you’re actually like the people in this video in person. I don’t know you in person. I only know you through this comment. And it’s the comment itself I’m criticizing. But the way you present yourself here is similar to some of the people in the video. And the worst part is how this video talks about how stupid the generation wars are, but you seem to have missed or ignored that in favor of participating. Except you weren’t content to actually stereotype and insult different generations, you want to start inter-generational wars with your sweeping generalizations based on nothing but anecdotal opinions shared by an extremely small sample size of people. This is pretty lame. I’m not even a millennial, and I could still tell this comment was nonsense.
i've seen a few videos about millenial cringe now and most of them are just showing these same couple of people. These people are weird as hell and don't represent what millenial humor or culture or even millenial cringe culture is like overall. they're just a handful of bizarre people who are making EVERYONE cringe, most of all millenials bcs yall wanna say we're all like this or find it cute edit: okay, honestly the woman doing stand-up is definitely millenial cringe 😔
i think cringe culture is really stupid. i understand cringing at something, but if someone doesn’t like a piece of content i don’t see why they can’t just move on with their day.

Many ppl discussing cringe culture/ethics here so here's my take If you wanna be weird, that's fine. But a majority of people will not relate to this type of humor, thus posting it online makes you a target. Unfortunately the internet will probably always be mean, so be an "adult baby" offline and do your "adulting" online.

Arriving 6 months late to a trend is actually peak Millennial. I view all my TikToks through Instagram. I'm too old to be this annoying and too young to be this lame.
Normally I don't feel represented in Millenial vids (asides the 2 financial crashes, almost impossible to get onto the property ladder, and remembering 9/11 happening and the war on Iraq and Afghanistan being declared) but the morning starting with a cup of coffee and medication is definitely real
Hey just to add some context to the clip about boba the creator is autistic and struggles with the texture of tapioca. I understand it’s cringe but I think the context helps it be a little more understandable :)
I will say the ones who go so hard on bullying are the same Gen z being raised on some content creators out there that do believe that intense bullying is funny and okay. But then when the content creator they bullied suddenly does something…bad and leave earth, they’re the same ones to say they didn’t bully her because so many others bullied her too. Sadly we’re on a cycle where kids are going to be fed the internet way too early in life and that bullying will just get worse on social media
I think it’s the lack of information about mental illnesses being out for our early adulthoods mixed with an overemphasis on mental health in our late teens. Add a dash of self deprecation: relatability being the *hawt* comedy style of our age group. Maybe a sprinkle of too many consecutive Xanax scripts, and like having to entertain ourselves pre every body having internet that adds the little IM SEUX EXTRA QUIRKY JERKY theater kid embellishment. I know someone that clumsy btw, but he had a brain tumor removed and is slightly less clumsy now. Oh and add a bit of cliche goth/ grunge/ punk/ rock star arrogance if you were one of the spicier millennials.. idk all together it’s a bit much. Came to a head with hipsters in the early 210’s… but then even hipsters hated hipsters so we all fractured into our own factions where only the most theater kid ridiculous at heart are still displaying that level of cringe in current year.
As someone with actual anxiety, I normally don't mind the anxiety jokes. I make the anxiety jokes. Except the millennial ones, which make me rage an unbelievable amount. like you're not a anxious child you're an exceedingly silly human going through a midlife crisis
and like... downplaying it into something being quirky rubs me the wrongest way. being someone with chronic anxiety, panic attacks, and agoraphobia, its not like some casual thing to joke about. i dont want to be constantly talking about it because it plagues my life, i wish i just had a break from it all. i cant imagine thinking youre cute and quirky and special just cause you have an anxiety disorder. its so trivialising the actual problem isnt it
The irony of the 'want something that I want' trend is that I swear the original creator of that is likely a millennial if not just one of us on the cusp
I'm dyspraxic so the clumsy one hit different for me. Pissed me off. Like I struggle every day with my co-ordination and they're turning "clumsy" into their whole personality ffs
it actually turned out that that girl has ehlers-danlos syndrome (i think that's what it was). she was cringy but she wasn't pretending to have actual issues
I claim "zillenial" because I can't stand the thought of either. There's a ton of people that probably fit in this category, I didn't make it up but I don't see it a lot.
I’ve seen a few videos like this before, and what rung true then stills rings true for me now; it’s the ingenuity of it. It’s cringe because we all know these people wouldn’t act like this if they didn’t have an audience/ a camera in front of them. Pumpkin spice cream lady would simply spread it on a cracker and eat it. The “clumsy toddler” adult content creator would just pick up the glass and put it down. End of story. But they’re trying so hard to be funny, to be relatable, to be quirky, that all of it is painfully insincere, and (at least to me) that’s what makes it so cringe.
It feels real gross to refer to yourself as a child with an adult shaped body 🤮 I have mental issues and I tend to age regress when I’m stressed and people always find a way to make it gross or find a way to sexualize it.
everyone that sexualizes age regression makes me want to crawl out of my skin. its such an innocent and healing thing for me i cant believe people will say grotesque shit about us when THEYRE the ones sexualising it and making US uncomfortable taking US out of our coping strategy. fucking perposterous
I honestly just think it’s because this is the kind of behaviour that would go viral back in the early days of youtube like vine comedy and they haven’t realised internet humor has changed and ppl don’t find it funny anymore, only cringy
I was wanting to give you a hard time about how each 'generation' has plenty of its own cringe, and how you're not all too different from a millennial in ways... and then you earned a whole bunch of respect points with the last few minutes of the video. 😁👍 As well as a subscriber. Their conflict resolution just needs a little extra work because they lost time with their peers at a young age, but at this point they've been recovering from that for a few years. Kids are kids, whether they have the internet or not. They still do things like playing "gymnastics princesses" , or "house/family", and manhunt/tag. Most 8-12 year olds are not the 8-12 year olds you see in sephora and on tiktok.
@@annabelledrake2027yeah the Sephora kids was more critical of how rich families raise their kids rather than larger society. it seems like most people at the time forgot that the average person cannot afford to spend a stack at Sephora
@@annabelledrake2027thank you for saying that like yeah *most* emphasize on most kids around my age (I’m 12) are normal and don’t say all that brain rot stuff like the only ones who say that are the very little kids like the 3-6 year olds are the ones who say that
its the glee theatre kids turned disney teen combo they are a small group but are they so very load and annoying. they are def the older millenianial creator with their audience being 99% pre teens that are "wacky and random" most millenials dont act like this espeically outside of north america
This is very accurate. Millenial theatre kids were the worst. High school musical was a plague upon humanity.
I really feel like it is the US and Canadian millennials for sure.
Haven't met a wacky and totally 'relatable' millennial in the wild where I'm from 😂 I'll keep my eyes peeled though
So far, the only relatable cringe I have seen is in the movie "Turning Red". One particular part gets me. When Mei started drawing pics of a cute boy she saw and then her mom showed those pics in public, my heart reached out. You didn't deserve it, Mei Mei!
Oh my god that scene was cringe but only because it was so relatable
i'd just like to say that as a teenage gen z, the silly s thing was 100% a throwback for me too, people were doing that all the time when i was in elementary lol
I’m so glad to hear that! My middle school and high school nieces draw them with me sometimes
Haha same
i love that the funky s has lived on so long
The first s drawings appeared in the 1970s. So it has been around awhile

It's also how that first lady is talking and chewing above the cream cheese container. the crumbs are gonna go in it just urgh
Tbh, cringe is people not acting themselves because I refuse to believe that they act like that naturally when not trying to get attention on tiktok
That’s what I’m saying!!!
Absolute facts
@@brainrottedindividualYou nailed it!
He’s also the king of the whole funny face=funny thing
we grew up with jim carrey too though 😭
I literally never watched anything with him in it my mom hated him 😂 is that why I'm normal?
@rosywhiskers to me it makes sense, my 30 something year old older sister does this and we watched a bunch of Jim Carrey growing up
I watched Jim Carrey in the Once Bitten and Earth Girls are Easy era. He was originally more of a pretty boy, and became more of a weirdo as time went by. This backs this theory up, actually. Gen Xers received less weird JC, and each Gen got more.
Honestly I knew people back in highschool that would effectively orgasm everytime they bite any food.
🤣
Yep and they had the audacity to call ME the "gutter brain" when I pointed it out... like they weren't full-on MOANING while chewing food lmao come on now
My Gen X mother does this. I think a lot of X’ers really latched onto millennial humor and traits.
they're like real life pixar characters in the worst way
as one of the last born millenials I literally don't get this trend because nothing makes me more angry than baby voice and face comedy... so yeah... this video was very hard for me to watch 😓
Millennials are 1981-1996
What even is this obsession with avocado?

@@squibkibback around 2011-2014ish there were a ton of boomer articles about how millennials were buying avocado toast instead of buying a house or paying bills. It came on with the hipster trend. Avocado decor was also ‘all the rage’ around that time kind of like lemons in the 90s and pineapples a few years ago
3:51 I never noticed the fact that it genuinely says “cool beans comedy” in that video and that tells us everything we need to know
I feel like the set would've been better if...
1. She didn't start the set by saying "anxieties"
2. Her delivery wasn't so animated. It becomes distracting super fast and you can't even focus on what she's saying.
It's not a great set regardless but I would have significantly less brain damage then what I got from it.
i blame jim carrey for millennial humor. they all grew up watching him and are now trying desperately to imitate his comedy style.
Some of us were Adam Sandler fans instead, and we’re semi-normal
@@somefiend5460 That shouldn't be normal.
I was growing on Andrei Tarkovsky movie humour, Aleksandr Pushkin, Gogol, Tolstoy books... That's why you guys are dumb, probably.;D Hi from Eastern Europe.
Exactly, but they just don’t understand that it can’t be replicated. Jim Carrey is funny because he’s the only one who can do it

its not the generation, its the enviornment they're raised in.
Those are elder millennials. We don’t claim them. They are Simba’s dark shadowy place to the rest of us. My friends and I were born at the very tail end of the millennials. We are nothing like this.
As an elder millennial I don’t claim them either.
These people are weird as hell and don't represent what millenial humor or culture or even millenial cringe culture is like overall. they're just a handful of bizarre people who are making EVERYONE cringe, most of all millenials bcs yall wanna say we're all like this or find it cute
edit: okay, honestly the woman doing stand-up is definitely millenial cringe 😔
i think cringe culture is really stupid. i understand cringing at something, but if someone doesn’t like a piece of content i don’t see why they can’t just move on with their day.

Bro, gen Z and younger are going to be perpetually roasted into oblivion due to growing up online. Every generation through all of human history has been cringe... Except none of that sh*t has been recorded in excruciating detail until now 😭 I'm so fcking thankful I just missed that experience - I already die inside thinking about cringey sht I did like 20 years ago. If it was available online?? I'd implode from the mortification. God bless these kids. This phenomenon will certainly change the social rules around childhood and growing up. It'll be a damn gold mine for sociologists though
thoughts and prayers to every kid who did weird povs, fnaf dances and those anime/animation movement... things(??) on early tiktok/late musically because their videos still get circulated on twt to this day 😭
not if gen alpha can barely read 😭😭
Going to overshare for a second (sorry), but last week I went to the doctor for back pain and discovered instead that my diabetes had gone wildly out of control and I was close to the unalive zone. HELP WHAT
Hey just to add some context to the clip about boba the creator is autistic and struggles with the texture of tapioca. I understand it’s cringe but I think the context helps it be a little more understandable :)
as an autistic person, the tiktok is still wildly obnoxious
being autistic doesn't protect you from being a millennial 😢 (i'm also autistic)
It's the delivery method of the information they were trying to convey that made it so brain-bashingingly difficult to watch. (I'm autistic.)
I do have a friend that has a lack of fine motor skills, but that is not their fault because parents are supposed to help develop those
I will say the ones who go so hard on bullying are the same Gen z being raised on some content creators out there that do believe that intense bullying is funny and okay.

Your editing is hilarious. Im glad you posted it made my day again! Keep it up!!
Damn I love your content, never stop creating‼️‼️
I’ve seen a few videos like this before, and what rung true then stills rings true for me now; it’s the ingenuity of it. It’s cringe because we all know these people wouldn’t act like this if they didn’t have an audience/ a camera in front of them. Pumpkin spice cream lady would simply spread it on a cracker and eat it. The “clumsy toddler” adult content creator would just pick up the glass and put it down. End of story. But they’re trying so hard to be funny, to be relatable, to be quirky, that all of it is painfully insincere, and (at least to me) that’s what makes it so cringe.
It feels real gross to refer to yourself as a child with an adult shaped body 🤮
I have mental issues and I tend to age regress when I’m stressed and people always find a way to make it gross or find a way to sexualize it.
everyone that sexualizes age regression makes me want to crawl out of my skin. its such an innocent and healing thing for me i cant believe people will say grotesque shit about us when THEYRE the ones sexualising it and making US uncomfortable taking US out of our coping strategy. fucking perposterous
I’ve seen the video at 6:30 It also fills me with so much rage I can’t explain.
