Where can we find the responses to the question about anxiety during sunset? I'm interested in that one as I also experiences. It. Also I think I'm not understanding the meaning of suffering as explained in this video - if something is causing someone extreme pain, they suffer, but they can't just stop their suffering. It seems to me that suffering is not psychological all the time and it seems that there are different types of suffering. If it is only psychological, and if we add suffering our own experience, then what about animals? Do they not suffer when they are being tortured or killed? Same with humans. Are they not suffering when they are being tortured or under extreme circumstances of pain? Maybe I'm just not understanding the meaning of suffering - thank you so much for all your work Rick Hansen.

I like your voice, but clearly you don’t suffer from anxiety. It’s like telling someone to just get over it with depression... it sounds pretty deprecating for those who do struggle as if it’s a choice. Are we expected to just sit in pain and be happy about it?
Chronic anxiety is quite different from your problems about temperature and a scratchy throat. I can deal with those things and not suffer, but there is little grace in this teaching for deeper suffering.

Lauren, thanks for this. Actually, I've often felt anxious. In numerous talks for this meditation group, you'll find many practical suggestions for more than mindfulness of anxiety, including some from my background as a clinical psychologist. You might also like my book, Resilient, with lots of methods that could help with anxiety.

@@RickHanson Hi Rick, thank you for your kind words.... also appreciate the resources. I also apologize for my comment.., I was struggling with my struggle at the time Lol and it wasn’t very empathic of me.
It triggers me to think that I’m the cause of my suffering, it doesn’t always feel like a choice to me... but I’m here to learn and make it better 🕉
