- The Scotland Diaries is a video series intended to uncover the spirit of golf through playing courses you have never heard of. Episode 1 highlights Shiskine Golf Club, a 12 hole track nestled in the coast of the Isle of Arran. Known as "Scotland in miniature," the Isle of Arran is home to more golf clubs per capita than anywhere else in the world. Erik Anders Lang and Golf Channel correspondent, Alexandra O'Laughlin, begin their journey on a ferry in the Atlantic Ocean. When they arrive to Shiskine Golf Club, they are greeted by retired livestock farmer, Willie. Having been local to the Isle of Arran for his entire life, Willie has played golf at Shiskine for an impressive 68 years. Over the course of their round, Willie provides Erik and Alexandra with golf advice that translate to valuable life lessons. Tune in to hear what Erik has to say about Shiskine Golf Club, his first experience at a 12 hole golf course.

The 1 man you did not mention was the course record holder. Who had a hole in 1 WITH A DRIVER, on the 5th hole (medal tee), into the wind!! -5 37 was the gross score. It's stood for 15years! And this man happens to be my father :)

“Serious fun” that is the perfect description of golf and i’ve never heard it until now.
It's the description we never knew we needed until it was said
Erik is great for golf vlogs because, while some vlog for the holes and have more of a "How To Play" style, Erik vlogs for the moments and for the feeling and the beauty of golf course on a great piece of land somewhere in the world. Erik invokes an emotional response when you watch.
Both type of golf vloggers are necessary but Erik is in his own world with capturing the feelings of golf.
I've play Shiskine dozens of times and I think I've had weather like that twice in 30 years :)

It’s easy to invoke feelings of travel and adventure in younger audiences like myself. It’s hard to invoke those same feelings in golf, seemingly regardless of where it is. Erik and RGC crew have found the perfect blend of the two that inspires a 20 year old kid like myself to play golf and remember that it is meant to be fun and a get away, and that it is possible in almost every corner of the globe. I love RGC and Erik for that alone. Thank you for keeping me young and inspiring me to do more.

Erik, im 29 and just got starting playing golf last year. Youre probably one of the good reason for it. This is the best content I have seen on youtube along w/ Adventures in Golf. Please never stop making those videos.

For the record though the old boy was saying "arable" farm not animal farm. Arable being a farm with crops, rather than a pastoral farm which is livestock only.

Played there back in the 80's when I was a kid. My parents used to take us to Arran for Holidays back then. Believe when I say, you had the best conditions ever.

This is the course I got. My handicap on. Must have played it over 300 times. Love it. I have family on the island and I get over at least 3 times a year.

Got to play here in 2014 on the way to Macrahanish. Really cool course, super friendly people, totally worth a stop if you’re headed out to the Kintyre Peninsula.
Only just found your channel (sorry), you should totally come to the north of Scotland for a round. Some cracking courses up here. I’m a member of Moray which has the best finishing hole in the north, I’m biased but it’s true. There’s also Castle Stuart, which hosted the Scottish open and newly opened Kings, which I’ve not yet played.
I’m watching this as I eat breakfast and about to play Trump international and really enjoying your stuff. Keep it up!
