Stress on first syllable, short 'i'. A favourite plant of mine on my tropical veranda. I invite visitors to stroke it. Mine never gets direct sunlight. You can grow it by just laying a leaf on some potting mix. It will grow from the leaf. The small white growths are stipules.
This plant has so many names it’s funny. Pilea Grandifolia, Pilea Molly, Pilea Moon Valley, Waffle plant, and of German Pilea Involucrata, Pilea Kanonierblume, and the dark gray and silver is the Pilea Coral. I guess because of its Amazing foliage and many different hues it speaks to Everyone differently and therefore all the names. From Green to bright green, Matt green, gray and silver and all those in between. As it grows the leaves get thicker and more textured. Actually it’s an terrarium plant that you can buy a small version of for 1-2 bucks. Placing 3-4 in a pot gives a lush full plant. 1 alone isn’t a Delight. To keep it compact and full you have to pinch out renew growth and it sprout underneath the base and get fuller. If not it will get leggy and turn into a tree. Don’t forget that these are nothing more than weeds that are attractive enough to grow in your house. They belong to the poison ivy or nettle plant. Also a beautiful plant is called the Pilea Silver tree which is the Pilea Coral grown into a tree form through pruning. Very inexpensive but nice to look at. I have seen many Terrarium plants grown into mature house plants in the US. And these are plants that are mainly sold as mini minis in Germany. Also the Fittonias are Terrarium plants initially and grown to be beautiful house plants. Being terrarium plants they all love high humidity, so misting is important. Nature is so amazing and beautiful.
@@Diabla2blea thanks but I enjoy the. Content of Others and attempt to give tips on how not to kill them like I have. It’s great to get info and suggestions that help make this plant journey more enjoyable and less stressful. The amount of work involved in making these videos is intense and I have utmost respect for the Creators of the content. What good is knowledge when you keep,it to Yourself? Take care and don’t give up.
@@chrisrangel2000 you can see when new leaves are pushed out. It’s important to “Stunt” the growth since it grows so fast and in doing this it stimulates the plant to grow in another part of the plant. You can tell if it works by looking at the lower branches of the plant. This plant grows like a weed. All it needs is constant pruning at the beginning and keeping it moist. I’ve converted mines to semi hydro using Leca balls. It takes the guesswork out of watering. Also a real easy plant that also is an terrarium plant is the Fittonias. I have a green one and not only are they attractive but are very easy to care for. You can’t kill this plant. It only needs the minimum and will grow with low to medium light. Good luck and don’t worry. It will grow.
I received this plant by plane mail today and came looking for a video about it's care. Thanks for the info. Aren't those leaves amazing?! Mother nature is so creative!

It's a sheath! its so crazy!! I love it so much too!
Awesome!! Thank you!
pinch the little leaves off when they appear and it will grow fuller.
I’m not familiar with this plant but it’s really cool looking! Thank you for sharing! 💜
Thanks for watching!!
Pilea mollis it’s a very sensitive plant, the roots can rot easily if you don’t provide a pot with drainage holes!
Mine went so big , long "arms" and drooping but not "trailing " it didn't look nice in the pot to be honest. Any tips to keep it more compact?
Tip prune it
lots of light, mine is in a south facing window with frosted glass and it has stayed very compact. you will get more flowers this way too.
Any one kmows where to buy the seeds for this tree ? Thanks
Very nice 👍
I think the tiny leafs are called sepals
It’s called a sepal. The “clear leaves”.
Not low light.. just that it will burn easy with direct sun. If no direct sun then bright light.
PILLea mollis.. moon valley friendship plant
Do uno if I can clone this one?
Yes, it’s very easy to propagate.

looks like a coleus
What's the soil that you use? I have 2 and they need to be repotted 💚🌿🪴
All purpose amended with extra perlite for good drainage.
What soil did you end up using? I need to repot mine & I can’t find info on if I should use mostly peat or something more well draining
Very nice 👍
