TFI, Thanks a lot for showing Bolted Connections in such a detailed level! You make the best tutorials for Autodesk Inventor and you certainly have earned the title Autodesk Expert Elite! Tutorials like this saves both me and maaany others alot of time and pain! (sort of..frustration at least) ! I guess you have been in that situation and done a ton of trial and error, hence you are the expert.. but still that's the best way to learn and remember ;) I am a Senior Piping Engineer working on modifying and improving existing oil rigs in Norway. I have been using Bentley Microstation and PDMS almost every day for over 10 years. Client and the company I'm working for choose this as a standard. I know as a fact that a Bentley user like me, have more difficulties converting over to Autodesk, because its somewhat another way of thinking when modeling. I'm currently learning how to design in Autodesk Inventor privately, and the only question I have regarding this tutorial, even doe I guess you might have covered that or will cover that in a tutorial for Partlists and BOM view.. or maybe its so obvious that I have not discovered it yet... Regarding Bolts, Washers and Nuts in the partlist.. Is there a way to compress them into one item number in the partlist like in example text "M12 Bolt x 115 mm lg (material bla bla, C/W (Comes With) Washers and Nuts)"? So various sizes and length of bolts does not clutter or dominate the partlist when you have designed/assembled a complex component? Anyways, again.. Many thanks for the tutorials you have made and making, they really helps!

My company recently decided we would do 3D for our GA drawings. Me, being the senior of our team and none of us having 3D experience was chosen to be the lab rat. I am learning from the start and I find your videos very informative, extremely helpful, and quick to the point. I had a manager that was English but recently returned to Australia where he actually lives. He was very smart but also very (TOO) thorough in explaining things. You could never get a YES/NO answer from him until he completed his 16-minute preamble on the basis of your question. You on the other hand get the point across in like 16 seconds. One thing I will comment on his some of your background music makes me wanna throw a weenie down a hallway. I can bear it though since you make the rest enjoyable. Thanks a shit-ton.

I start using this feature and it's awesome. It's great when you have to change the size of a bolt.
But Have you ever had an issue where the bolt gets generated but the holes don't. On like a linear one.
Im trying to put a hole through a flat surface then through a round shaft then terminating through a flat surface again.

I thank you for the video. I'm sure this can be done. I'll find out tomorrow when I play with this but an 8.4mm hole would be oversize for our use. Hopefully there is a way to make these defaults tighter. i.e 8mm, 8.05mm, and 8.1mm for 8mm fixings. Then new clearances for ≥16mm and new again for ≥50mm etc..

The problem with placing bolts and nuts with, with the automation is when you save close and open the file again it can't find the bolts because it is not in the project folder. It's in the content center.
A quick tip: disable all the random inch sized fasteners you don't need from the library so you don't have to wait 10 seconds for the menu to open up to pick which screw to use.
Great Video! I know this video is a few years old now, but I have encountered a problem and I have no idea where to turn. On the dialog at 11:39, I am only able to select 5 mm. There are no other options with other standards and the drop down arrow is faded out indicating there are none. What do I do? I have already reinstalled, and this has not been an issue in the past when I have used this accelerator. Thanks for any help!

I have a question. I'm a solidworks convert and I want to have my students create a vise...easy enough right. I haven't been able to find a good way to show them how to make the vise move by rotating the screw. Do you have anything for that?
+Daniel Seman Thanks! I've got nothing for that on the channel, but it should be possible, I'll have a think and see if it can be made into a tutorial as it's quite a generic thing that could be used by a lot of folk.

Thanks soooo much for the amazing videos! I would like some help with I-beam Plate connections... I created my sketch, inserted my I-beams and the trimed and extended where needed, now I need to do plate connections for the bolts and adding wheels but I'm struggling so bad! Made a sketch on a plain but it won't let me extrude, then I tried using and part import.... but my size and constraint are a mess!!! :(

When trying to do a bolted connection By Hole, and the solids to join aren't continuous (like a square tube), it doesn't allow to do the job. I guess it isn't a common situation.

Great Video, however, when I tried to practice this feature on two simple solids using a socket head cap screw, Inventor 2015 wouldn't create a desired counter-bore in the first face. Did I miss something or is this not possible? I didn't try a flathead but I'll assume it behaves the same way.
Amazing video. By the way is it possible to have a spacer in bw the and bolt ? Like I need to attach a stepper motor to a bracket and I need it to be offset by 2 cm or so and I want to use a spacer. Is there a way to achieve this without having to design spacers myself?

Hi! I've been having hard time trying to make a connection using stud bolts. They never appear in the content center while specifying the bolted connection itself(click to add a fastener step), though there are a few in content center after all. Is there a trick to make them appear as possible solutions? Basically I want to connect two plates with a stud bolt+washer+nut. No matter which options or dimensions I choose there's no stud to choose from /cry.
