BTW, your videos never fail to make me smile, which is why I watch your channel, keep up the good work! Also, I think it is shedule (as in not skedule), think of the soft drinks manufacturer Schweppes, how is that pronounced? There are probably etymological reasons, but I can't be bothered to look them up. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter, we know what we each mean.
As a Brit, I've often wondered about the flashlight/torches debate, however thinking about it, when a torch turns in your direction, it definitely flashes in your eyes in a way that a steady omnidirectional light doesn't. Especially when seen on TV or cinema.
As a slight counter to the “don’t listen to the haters” comments, an American RUclipsr who I very much respect has the approach that if he sees trends in his comments pointing out negative aspects to his videos, he then uses that to feed back into his future content in order to continually improve it. That positive approach to negativity pretty much sums up a US attitude for me. I think the first video I watched of yours was ages back when you tried British Christmas treats. It was one of the funniest things I’d seen all year and got you an instant sub from me. You have a wry, understated humour, which is probably why you fit right in in the UK. It kind of goes with the weather.
Hi You are a credit to the States and now a credit to the UK. I am 70 years and live in South London and I wish some of my neighbours were as eloquent as You, I also love your friend in the States as She is Palace supporter, and very funny. Just a note on taps and the reason for two goes back to the day when houses had a cold water tank in the attic and had a low pressure supply to the tap therefore pipe joints lasted longer as opposed to the water pressure from a mains supply.
Mixer tap team here too, to the end!!!!!!Totally, totally agree on mixer taps, but I have only encountered the old fashioned sinks with two taps in very old houses in UK. Mixer taps are indisputably better. I never lived in any house in Spain either that had two separate taps. My method in the old houses with two taps in the sink was actually never to take the trouble of filling the sink with both taps to get a comfortable temperature, but ending up with freezing hands! Very unpleasant experience. And that argument of saving water is BS 😂 It only remains an issue bc housing stock is very old and people are too stingy to replace the sinks!!
I was a scheduler at Lucas for many years, and yes we pronounced it as shedule. It's just another difference that brings us closer, it wouldn't do if we were all the bloody same, would it?
How can people call you dumb?? That isn’t very nice. I find you so interesting watching your American tour and watching you adjust to uk life. Thn you passing your uk citizenship I say well done and be proud of everything you have done Keep vlogging xx
I've said it as Skedule for as long as I can remember (I'm 51) so it's not a recent thing that's happened in my experience. Considering that we (as British folk) are supposed to thrive on negative and deprecation there are far too many people who have a sense of humour failure when faced with negative and deprecating statements or comments!!
VIVA LA MIXER TAPS! (I mean, even with a mixer tap, if you really want to fill in the sink, you can.) Oh, and don't ever change. You're very entertaining!
The only problem I have with 'Flashlight' is that just because of advances in technology and engineering doesn't mean you need a new word for something. I like the idea that there's a through line from a prehistoric torch being tinder on a stick to medieval oil and rags, to light bulbs to LEDs.
As a Brit with appalling English l love your videos always interesting to hear a foreign nationals perspective of this country and in many ways l appreciate the U.K. all the more, and your husband is a very, very lucky man!!!!!!!!
I'm from the suurbs of London/Kent and I say schedule the American way...but I also get teased by my friends for saying a lot of things in the American way because I watch too much American media haha
Mixer taps in the UK do not actually mix the water in the tap. If you look, you will find two individual tubes at the end. The cold tube is outside the hot tube so that the tap is not too hot to move around. When we imported taps which do actually mix within the tap, the incoming pipes should have one way check valves in them to prevent any backflow.
Forget about mixer taps, no worries on that. Funniest news story Barry Gardiner MP, has been infiltrated by the Chinese, nearly fell off the chair laughing. Now waiting for the trolls. You are doing a good job, just keep away from bring a bottle parties in London. Can't beat the UK for comedy. Queen just trumped BG, Andrew stripped of honours, in for a penny in for a pound.
Hardly infiltrated, he took some money to pay the salaries of some researchers & declared it according to the rules. Mixer taps are old hat. A cold tap for teeth cleaning and a thermostatic blending valve on the hot is the ultimate in plumbing perfection.
I heard an American comedian doing a stand up routine once in the UK and he was talking about Brits eating beans on toast, asking if we're still at war, lol. Quite funny and it probably did get popular from WWII. I used to prefer tinned spaghettii hoops on toast when I was a kid but I havnt had either for years. I watch a Bill Burr podcast before and he was responding to someone telling him that the word colour wasn't a spelling mistake but just they way its spelt in British English and he was like I don't care, we don't care how you sell it, so quite funny.

As always, a very entertaining video. It’s good you don’t take yourself too seriously, sadly the same can’t be said of some of the haters who respond to your videos.
I appreciate that mixer taps are amazing if all is equal in terms of water pressure, BUT the last house we rented the hot water was coming through at a MUCH lower pressure so you couldn't run the hot and cold together as it would just run cold. We had to first run the hot and then add cold, all through the mixer tap. So frustrating!
I look forward to your videos as your intelligent and humorous comments brighten my day, I am perplexed why some people are so disagreeably negative. Lang may your lum reek!
Hi Kalyn, It’s certainly good to call people out, but I’m glad you didn’t focus too much on them either and gave air time to positive comments. I totally get you. You do comparisons. As a Brit I totally agree with you about aircon and screens. In fact so much so, that we had aircon and screens installed after spending time with friends and family in the US and Canada. We realised what good ideas they were and adopted them. I follow a lot of travel vloggers and I get the impression that the trolls are basically energised by jealousy. You’ve done what they probably never will, and that’s travel and move abroad. I’d guess most of them still live with their parents and have never moved much further than their bedroom and gaming station!
The OED lists three different pronunciations of 'schedule' for British English ('sk', and two 'shed's with different endings) and just the 'sk' version for American English.
Noooo. Mixer taps are a work of the devil. My son has them in his home and I never get them right often wetting my cuffs. Apart from that, you're wonderful and entertaining. I love the interesting perspective you offer.
Hiya. I've said this before and I'll say it again, those of us who say SHEDule say it 'cos that's what we were taught in SHOOL. 🤣 Stay safe. All the best to you.
You are our adopted daughter , cannot understand why people would leave a negative comment , life is far too short for this negativity , love your channel 👍
I have just roughly calculated the cost of converting my 1790 house to mixer taps. This would involve ripping out yards of copper pipe, hot water tank, immersion heater, change the entire central boiler, replace three sinks and a bath and so on. Cost of new boiler plus new taps etc. The cost came to over £9000 and could have been more. Excuse me if I stick to my two taps system😀😀
You're not negative. Of course after living here for ten years, there will be things that you don't like, but you're very positive about the UK. I like your channel, it's interesting to hear about the everyday differences between US and UK. I say schedule with the hard 'ch' 'sk' sound (I'm Scottish). Your accent is nice. I'd definitely forget some of the US states if you asked me to name them - I never learned a thing about the US in geography at school - but I'm going to test myself now and see how many i can name😆. If people aren't being constructive, please don't take it to heart.

You have the right level of self-deprication to be British. And your videos almost ALWAYS make me smile. Hi! The English Language...As a student in the 60's here in Australia I loathed "English" as a subject. Having said that I had the good fortune some years later to work with a notable British repertory company(not as an actor, they had need of some dancers). Working with some of Britain's finest I acquired an appreciation and respect for "classical" English. I realise that the language has been changing for a thousand years but some basic tenets of usage would be really important for present and future comprehensions of the traditions of "English."
Very amusing, I do like watching your blogs. It’s a shame there are some weirdo’s around who take everything so seriously. Keep it going it does brighten my day watching your work.👍👏👏👏
I fail to understand why people post negative comments. If they don't like the content, why watch? Life is too short to watch stuff on RUclips that you don't enjoy or makes you angry. There are always nay sayer's, sadly that is a part of internet life, but you are by far the best and most watchable U-Tuber when it comes to joining our two nations, and I would miss you should you go. :-)
Mixer taps still need to get hot water from a boiler (unless you have a hot tap with its own water heater) so how quick they are surely depends on how far away from the boiler the tap is.In my case the kitchen and downstairs wet room are about as far apart as they can be so hot water takes a long time to reach them.
The fact that you are using Elementry / Primary school songs to help you remember things shows how good your teachers were, after all this time, you still remember them and put them to good use, good job! Mixer taps, you don't have to fill the whole sink, you just need enough water in there to do the job. Your videos are good stuff, I like the differences between our two nations (Or Americans doing stuff wrong depending on your point of view! lol) I want to hear your singing voice now! I've got a mental image of you knocking out the American national anthem in a good voice, but one that could use a little work. You are right about a lot of Brits not being able to name the American states, we would certainly have to think about it
Don't worry about those Gremlins who feel the need to ruin the 30 seconds you need to read the comments. I love Americans who come here and love the UK like yourself... we as brits often overlook how good this country can be and its nice to have your American enthusiasm balance out our cynical attitude. Firstly can I presume to apologise for the foul bile spewed by negative commenters. I have posted a few comments, as far as I remember universally positive. If I didn't I wouldn't watch you videos! Lots of love from deepest, darkest Lincolnshire. 👍
How did I miss this one? I like all reactions to our country, not saying I agree with all, as it often points out things that I take for granted being a Brit. I only watched half of this and already I've got a 1000 word essay about to go into the comment box. Can't be bothered, sorry. I'll keep it brief and just say this: I always found you likeable. The looks, the personality, the reasonable and usually well balanced views, but most of all the lack of pretension. You come across as authentic, and that's a major plus. The people who leave the negative comments are not offering an opinion on your statements; they're people who've taken a dislike to who and what you are and feel the need to attack you personally. That's just pointless bile and eminently ignorable. I've occasionally taken a dislike to the odd RUclipsr here and there myself, in which case I've closed the video and not gone back. I'd say that the people who need to attack you personally are simply giving vent to their own emotional insecurity. That being the case, they're the ones with a problem. Thanks for liking the UK enough to want to stay here and call yourself British. You're very welcome.
We drink straight from a cold tap. I've never drank straight from mixer taps. So, for the kitchen at least, I find 2 taps more suitable. British thinking isn't "create a shortcut at all costs" like American thinking (think plugs! Ours may be bulkier and more complex, why? Because they're better!)
Pity those who feel the painful feeling of envy which is the root cause of any negative comments. The only antidote to envy is to devalue the object of one's envy, hence the negative comments. To address other's envy, the object of envy (yourself) is to ignore it completely and simply never mention it. There is nothing you can do to resolve their envy other than not respond to it.

I can never understand how people watch a channel and whine and complain when all they have to do is click off it and move on. It say more about them than you. Crack on love, you’re doing great !!x
The word "torch" always conjures in my mind images of Dr. Frankenstein's creature being pursued and tormented by villagers.
Good on you! Articulate & honest..you're a breath of fresh air!
Personally I think anyone with the courage to sing on a public forum like this - good, bad or mediocre is worthy of respect. I never could, and if you have the confidence to put yourself out there like that, I have great respect for the performance...
I just started following you , and I cannot wait to take everything you say seriously. I am Canadian , yes, I come from that blank area above the U.S.A., lol. Look forward to commenting on future videos.
I'll never understand why people watch videos on RUclips that they don't like and then carp on about it, watch something that makes you happy, it's not difficult. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter, we know what we each mean.
i understand why people watch vids that irritate them its perfectly natural
Schweppes was born in 1783 under the guidance of Jacob Schweppes when he discovered a way to manufacture carbonated mineral water.
Don't worry, Brits love commenting on how "dense" I am as well 😅 and heck yes for girl scout cookies!! Someone bring us some too 😂
Neither of you are dense Jodi, I would describe you as adorably scatter-brained! I love watching your channel as well as Kaitlyns.
@@nicksykes4575 well since I (Jodi) have ADHD the scatter-brained assessment is definitely accurate 😂
Girl guides is what we call them.
I was a scheduler at Lucas for many years, and yes we pronounced it as shedule. It's just another difference that brings us closer, it wouldn't do if we were all the bloody same, would it?
I appreciate your videos and opinions they are interesting and entertaining
Your videos are brilliant, love watching them.
I'm also an American living in the UK and I totally agree on mixer taps.
How can people call you dumb??
That isn’t very nice. I find you so interesting watching your American tour and watching you adjust to uk life. Thn you passing your uk citizenship
I say well done and be proud of everything you have done
Keep vlogging xx
I'm a 63 Northern English man and I'v always pronounced the word schedule the way you do.
Can't really see the problem, afterall, you don't got to shool to learn, do you?
Getting offended by videos online is like choosing to stand in dog shit 🤷😆
VIVA LA MIXER TAPS! (I mean, even with a mixer tap, if you really want to fill in the sink, you can.)
Oh, and don't ever change.
PMQs yesterday had me in stitches. If Boris can keep the straight face he will make a fortune in after dinner speeches.
You come across as very bright. I love your comments.
1. Like your videos. Keep them coming and ALWAYS BE YOU. For me the way you wander through your thoughts is a refreshing way to put across your content.
2. Ref: places to go; Fairly Pools and Bad Steps - Isle of Skye.
Mull of Kintyre, Edinburgh, Isle of Jura and Loch Lomond.
Douglas and Peel - Isle of Man. To name a few, as you have already mentioned many of the places I would also recommend.
3. To those of you who write blatantly negative comments "FOFF!!" and don't come back. The girl gone good ( Yes I Pund it on purpose) 🎉😊
Thank you so much for watching Alex!!
Hi Kalyn,
It’s certainly good to call people out, but I’m glad you didn’t focus too much on them either and gave air time to positive comments.
Mixer taps for life!!!! (throws gang signs)
I'm with you when it comes to putting sauce on baked beans. The sauce us already there, as you said
Ignore the trolls, it’s the internet where stupidity and viciousness intersect!!
As you say “Your channel, your rules”. Keep up the good work.
You are our adopted daughter , cannot understand why people would leave a negative comment , life is far too short for this negativity , love your channel 👍
It's not as she talks about highly contentious issues either.
I just had the baconator at Wendy’s. I thought for a second I was back home. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I like to have separate taps in the kitchen because normally I either want hot or cold water.
Some people are just hateful behind a keyboard, you are awesome
Goodness me, such rudeness in some of the negative comments - I think your series is great.
Still love the dual Uk us citizen intro
You’ve said previously that you like the people from the north. Here’s a typical response from a northerner “ Don’t worry about it love you’re doing a good job.
You have the right level of self-deprication to be British. And your videos almost ALWAYS make me smile.
We can disagree on mixer taps and the pronunciation of SCHEDULE, but we can do so in a friendly manner and with a twinkle in the eye! And we agree constructive criticism is one thing but abusive comments are inappropriate on RUclips - or generally.
I'm disheartened to hear you're not Team Mixer taps Raymond ;) ;) but absolutely - disagreeing in a friendly way is what helps us all learn and I am very grateful for all of the members of my community who have taught me so many things over this past year. And I hope people have learned a little as well!
With pronunciation of schedule I remember as a pupil at shool to not pronounce the C 😂😂😂
The picture of the red wall with the window is absolutely fantastic, I want one! How and whom from?
Keep it going it does brighten my day watching your work.👍👏👏👏
Love your comments, Dean! Hope you keep enjoying the videos!
I fail to understand why people post negative comments. If they don't like the content, why watch? Life is too short to watch stuff on RUclips that you don't enjoy or makes you angry.
I really enjoy the content and love the observations on the differences between our two nations. Keep up the great work
Stay as you are. An entertaining and engaging presenter.
Please don't stop. you are bubbly, enthuiastic, very well spoken, and by far the best USA speaker about the UK. There are always nay sayer's, sadly that is a part of internet life, but you are by far the best and most watchable U-Tuber when it comes to joining our two nations, and I would miss you should you go. :-)
Thank you so much for your kind words, Roland! So appreciate you as part of this channel and hope you enjoy the videos to come!
Well - I think you-kick-ass girl! Seriously liked your responses!
Thank you so much Roger!
re: mixer taps
I have mixer taps in the kitchen, but hot & cold taps in the bathroom (WC/toilet/ensuite, whatever) 😂
Mixer taps still need to get hot water from a boiler (unless you have a hot tap with its own water heater) so how quick they are surely depends on how far away from the boiler the tap is.In my case the kitchen and downstairs wet room are about as far apart as they can be so hot water takes a long time to reach them.
When British folks call a flash light that you put on your head as a head torch - that is actually weird! My imagination draws a hell of a unicorn 😂😂😂
Rambling is the best thing about you, and what is attractive
Hey girl this Scottish Brit thinks u are good for our endorphuns and u make me laugh thanks for your contributions. Nil desparundum carbarundum!
Don't get so mad, you should know by now, the more they see you getting wound up or upset..that's it..you will get it..you are fine, don't worry
Very enjoyable.
I think you'll need a nice cup of tea after that.
The fact that you are using Elementry / Primary school songs to help you remember things shows how good your teachers were, after all this time, you still remember them and put them to good use, good job!
Mixer taps, you don't have to fill the whole sink, you just need enough water in there to do the job.
Your videos are good stuff, I like the differences between our two nations (Or Americans doing stuff wrong depending on your point of view! lol)
I want to hear your singing voice now!
Keep up the good content 👌.
Firstly can I presume to apologise for the foul bile spewed by negative commenters. I have posted a few comments, as far as I remember universally positive. This follows the old adage " if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all" I really enjoy and appreciate your perspective ( you are one of a few foreign born yt-ers that I follow). If I didn't I wouldn't watch you videos! Lots of love from deepest, darkest Lincolnshire. 👍
How did I miss this one? I like all reactions to our country, not saying I agree with all, as it often points out things that I take for granted being a Brit. To become a British citizen tells me you like it here. Sadly, there are a lot of idiots on RUclips ranging from RUclips sofa lawyers to outright aggresive, vulgar, wierdo's. If I dislike someone I don't subscribe. I subscribe here so I like you. Whatever your topic is you deliver it with great clarity and light heartedness. Keep up the hard work. Any American is welcome here, as far as i'm concerned.
I only watched half of this and already I've got a 1000 word essay about to go into the comment box. Can't be bothered, sorry. I'll keep it brief and just say this:
I always found you likeable.
Viva washing up bowl on the merch! 🤣
Haha, yes!! Mixer tap and washing up bowl merch.....have to do it! ;)
Shedule or skedule - Hmmm. I think there are two shools of thought about it...
Lol, my parents, even though we're Brits now, prefer mixer taps. Young autistic man speaking- I'm still super-dependent on my parents.
Hey Kailyn,
Love the sassy version of you...maybe hubby disagrees? 😆
I stand behind you (well behind your 8 foot hubby) against haters! 😉
I agree with the first comment you’re more than welcome here. I enjoy your videos keep it up. Best wishes. 👍👍👏👏
Fellow Floridian here- There are MANY cats that are outside, and the hot concrete doesn't bother them- because they are smart enough to stay on the grass! LOL
I find it hilarious at the tiny little item out of an entire video that triggers the trolls.
Also, I think Floridians have the least accent, accent.
I wouldn't have ketchup or brown sauce on beans on toast but I do find a bit of Encona hot pepper sauce lifts the beans considerably.
Ive got a mixer tap so I’m on your side ❤!
You are doing fine. Always be yourself. Discard the negative.
My English skills are good, my math skills, well, I don't have any particular skills at math. In fact, I practically need a calculator to add two and two. These facts don't make me especially smart or stupid. Everyone has different talents. There are some geniuses who are terrible spellers. And the ability to memorize lists of things is not an indicator of intelligence. 💙 I love your channel and I'm subscribed.
im subscribed and i like what u do, im from sweden. im not perfect and nobody else either, we all do as good we can... so no hard feelings from me to anybody. we are just all friends... great.
I agree that there is a big difference between disagreeing with a point of view, and personal attacks.
I would not be able to name all the US states BTW, but I think I can manage about ten. 😊
your best post. I am so upset if you get negative trolls. your singing voice is much better than mine.
