Kim, What strikes me, along with you usual boundless enthusiasm and joy for life, is that your eye for composition has and is growing exponentially! The driftwood shot is an evocative visual that illustrates my point. Thank-You, Mike
Your excitement is a great example of why I enjoy catching sunrises and encourage others to put forth effort to do it by Lake Michigan in Chicago. It just doesn't get much better.
The lighthouse added a nice element of interest. As one of the other commenters said, there is typically a small rectangular rubber eyepiece cover attached to the factory-supplied camera strap (Canon). I have attached mine by a piece of string to my remote camera release cable so that it is always handy (I don't use the factory-supplied camera strap). Gaffer tape also works (as one of the other commenters mentioned) and doesn't leave sticky residue like duct tape or any other type of tape. Of course, as you pointed out, a cloth will do the job. The photographs were excellent, as always.
Such a fun video and stunning images! Love getting to a location when the rest of the world's asleep to get great photos...there's something deeply satisfying about it. Thanks for sharing these moments with us Kim!
Another brilliant video with some great images. Totally agree that photography is supposed to be fun, especially genres like landscape and wildlife. At times we have a tendency to take ourselves and our gear too serious , but you always remind us that the subject is the important element and we should just enjoy those special moments we are privileged to see.
Hi Kim and hello from Nova Scotia. As mentioned below and numerous times before, your enthusiasm and positive outlook is truly infectious. Great shots and yes getting them on an early shoot truly makes it worthwhile. A tip I picked up for the viewfinder is painters tape. I keep 4-6 ft wrapped around a pencil and just use an inch or so when needed. Sticks fine and no residue.
Hi Kim, another infectious video. I will be heading out for sunrise tomorrow. Nice to hear you being more positive about your images, and so you should be! Some fantastic shots!
Great video. Went there a couple of years ago for a sunrise. Very early start in the morning, no sunrise and I managed to lose my brand new 17-40mm lens - hadn't taken a single shot with the lens. Glad you managed to get some awesome photographs. Might have to return there sometime soon.
Wow! Talk about an early start Kim! You got some cracking shots though, so well worth it. Thanks for another great share, looking forward to the next one...
Great job Kim. As a lighthouse fan (that sounded quite sad) I thought you captured those shots very well indeed. The light, the atmosphere were all spot on. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
HI Kim, what beautiful light. These are the mornings that keep you looking for the next one, and the next one.... You have a lovely perspective from your vlogging camera at 6.55 without the taller grasses right at the lens. Lovely spot - Well done. Its great watching your vids growing in popularity. Regards Ewan
Had to laugh at this one great vid and you had a great time...reminded me for when you were a child and all that time spent on the breach jumping waves..
Found your channel through Mr. Heaton! Glad I did. Some well captured shots in this video and I see why this location has been on your bucket list for some time. Well done! :)
I loved your video, Kim. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I found your channel because of a link that Thomas Heaton provided at the end of his latest video. I'm so glad he provided that link. I am now a subscriber to your channel, and looking forward to following your adventures in photography.
Ha! Great video! Watched this 2 days after dedicating my sunrise video to you, Kim, so a bit funny the similar experience! Although I didn't tumble down a sand dune...crept back into bed...it was my birthday!
Great video, and definitely inspiring to get up and get out there otherwise you'll never see and photograph anything. Oh and the roll down the dune at the end looked immense fun :)
Mornings are usually better than Evenings Kim. Incredible how your channel has grown in 3 months, I remember when you had 10 subscribers. You're a natural. Next step is climbing the mountains for sunrise, or camp out. Regards - John.
Nice shots! I did lol at the "what were you thinking, Kim" as I have got myself in those situations so many times before, recently on a riverbank and I got very wet, but saved the camera gear.
moving the scenery and photographing the disturbed sand is a big no no as far as i'm concerned, none the less your a great story teller and i really love your videos .
Spot on Kim, you definitely nailed it this time. Absolutely stunning images so really well done. Hope your not still trying to clime that sand dune to retrieve your camera hahaha! one step forward 10 back:-) Take care
First time viewer of your channel Kim and absolutely loved this vlog? Now a subscriber. Your perseverance certainly paid off your images were fantastic! Did you need to do much post processing?
Hi Kim Great video awesome images, love the colours in the sky and the image manipulation LOL!!. Love your enthusiasm as always. I'm guessing you fixed your tripod!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Have just stumbled across your channel and have to say that it's such an inspiring entertaining vlog ... just wondered with the photographs which you took in this video whether you had tried them in black and white ? They are quite contrasty so would imagine that one or two would look interesting to say the least. Great channel Kim. Keep them coming please
Jan Zienkiewicz Thanks Jan! No I didn't try black and white. I'm not that keen on black and white photos but my opinion may change in the future. Thanks again for your kind words!
Thanks for another inspirational video and a great deal of good advice. The pictures you took are phenomenal. May I although add one minor point of criticism: the music in the video is too loud compared to your voice, so I had to constantly adjust my speakers. Hope you don't mind.
Yeay - another Scot! Nice location, nice images. Only partly luck - 90% is making the effort to be in the right place at the right time :-) Always worth noting interesting places for future reference, so thanks for that. Worth getting yourself a proper viewfinder cover - did you not get one on your camera strap, or have you lost it?
Ha! It may be a Canon thing - I never use the branded strap but it does have a viewfinder cover on it which I now keep in my camera bag. Love your videos, please keep posting!
Great job Kim. enjoy all your vlogs, keep it up could you just let me know what gopro you use as you said it is not good in dark places, because i am thinking of getting a gopro but not shore which to get cheers jason.
Definitely a gorgeous morning to be out seeing the wonder of sunsets. Your images are quite nice.

Use gaffers tape to cover up your view finder. I usually have a small patch attach to my camera or tripod 👍
nice Kim...

Brian R never got one as far as I'm aware...unless I chucked it away years ago before I knew what it was 😂
Ha! It may be a Canon thing - I never use the branded strap but it does have a viewfinder cover on it which I now keep in my camera bag. Love your videos, please keep posting!
