Learning that “Daisy Meadows” is a pen name and that she wasn’t a real person broke me as a child 😭 I felt like my whole life had been a lie
Fans of Erin Hunter (author name used for the Warriors, Seekers, and Survivors series) can relate.
Same, I remember my mom telling me that Daisy wasn’t actually real when I was little and educating me on pennames with that.
Funnily enough, there is another book which has an Mc called daisy meadows! (addicted/Callaway series - book hothouse flower) ❤
I wrote her a letter when I was little and just got back a printed “dear reader” message and it made me so sad! I was OBSESSED with these books and to have my favorite author not even acknowledge her faithful readers? Part of the magic died that day 🥲
@@-ellieille- that’s so sad what the heck 😢
I accidentally stole the whole series from my library when I was a kid 💀💀
Edit: guys it's accidental because I took them when I was really young and then we moved and I just eventually forgot they weren't mine
Well not the whole series but like a very large chunk
Accidentally!!?!!? Mf overdosed on the series, and woke up in their room, sweating and wondering why they are covered in all these books lmao😂😂😂
😈
Cough cough accidentally borrowed permanently cough cough
@RSRye I was a kid and I didn't know I just forgot to return them 😭😭😭
the lack of dolls for their franchise was criminal. Luckily, I went to the Rainbow Magic website and played a game where you could design your own fairy. So I made like a hundred of them and then printed them out and played with them instead.
creativity right there 🎉
There's no dolls?!
these books were like a fever dream from my childhood that I mostly remember the covers of with no memories of the actual content in them lol
LITERALLY those covers take up so much real estate in my brain but aside from "Rachel. kirsty. finding fairies" I couldn't tell you a single thing about the plot
Me too. I remember reading them and loving them but I don't remember anything about them
at least you remembered thier names lol@@jesterlavorre6417
I was about to say that. I only remember the covers but I’m not even sure what the story was.
SAME
I literally remember nothing, and I read these books all the time as a young girl
The best part about these books was finding a fairy with the same name as you 💕
i remember getting so many presents of the same rainbow fairy book of my real name on my 6th birthday LOL
yeeeeaah!!!!
if you google "rainbow magic" and then your name, you can find out what fairy you are! there's not one for everyone, as amanda mentions, but there's a lot!
OMGG yes
I have a rare name so I never found one but my sister did and I remember being so mad lol
Maybe I'm misremembering, but I'm pretty sure Heather is a type of purple flower.
no, you're right!
@ville__no problem, i didn’t
It is I was named after it
Yeah its a light purple flower or violet if you want a specific name for the color
Wow I translated it and I am waiting with eager anticipation for my heart to stop beating. @ville__
Some lore you forgot to mention: I don't know if the newer books have it, but I remember a lot of the older books having a random letter hidden somewhere in each book, and at the end of the series, there was a word that you could put together by rearranging the letters.
WAIT WHAT
WAIT I REMEMBER THIS TOO NOW
OH YEAH I REMEMBER THIS! 😮
OH I REMEMBER THAT i loved it
WHAT
Not my dumb 7 y o self misreading Kirsty as Kristy and then when i found out 37 books later i just ignored it and kept calling her Kristy 💀💀💀
HAHA me too i only corrected for the vid 👀
@@AmandaTodhunterOfficial glad i'm not the only one haha 😅
Girl same 💀 like I realized eventually that it was Kirsty but I just elected to ignore it lmao
OMG SAME
STOP I thought I was the only one
These fairies had the BEST outfits my dude. Like some of them were SOOOOOO CUTE. You playing with the book covers like they were dolls? REAL, VALID, SAME, I CACKLED. 😭 My favorite fairy design ever is Edie the Garden Fairy, she’s literally so adorable and I’ll never be over her… SO GLAD you’re talking about the Rainbow Magic!
Another funny thing, when I was in first grade, I was one of the only kids that was pretty proficient at reading so everyone would bring me these fairy books like the goblin lackeys to my Jack Frost. “OOOH she reads CHAPTER BOOKS!” and they’d go grab them from our little first grade library as I sat on my plastic throne and would crack em open and just start reading with a pile of fairy books surrounding me (as I’d never be able to finish that many in a single 30minute reading period).
Aaaah Edie the garden fairy was my favourite design too! Her little wellies were soo cute
@@izzylove8252 AHHHHHH I know right, and her rainbow tights? Her little dress? Her big floppy hat? She’s so darling 🥹🥹
@ville__ wow totally
omg literally my first grade teacher saw me reading these chapter books and said I had a sixth grade reading level 😭
I remember as a kid thinking Kristy and Rachel should have switched names
Same😭
Sameee. I would always confuse which one was Rachel and which one was Kristy because Rachel looked like a Kristy and Kristy looked like a Rachel.
Literally i was always so confused
@@bluemacaroons same 😂
SAME
I remember noticing how they looked like each other’s parents when I was like 10 😭 I’m so glad someone else pointed this out, it left me so confused as a child
Bro as a child i thought threre was some sort of editing mistake that switched their parents
@ville__bruh, you know this is considered a threat right? That’s not a good way to get attention, that just gets you reported.
@@Kpracn0va They're a troll, I've seen them on plenty of other videos
Yeah, I thought it was really weird too. Glad they made Rachel’s mom actually look like her daughter in the movie.
right it was so confusing 😭
these books were actually everything to me in like elementary school so what kind of sorcery was hiding the animated show from me how did i not know about this
This! How tf did I not know there's an animated series/movie!?!🤯🤔
Same! I know what movie I’m watching this weekend haha! 😆
These books kickstarted my love of reading in kindergarten. Eventually my school’s librarian recommended more advanced chapter books, and I was reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by third grade. How I missed an anime and movie, idk, but I must binge it all this weekend.
amy the amethyst fairy, cherry the cake fairy, and adele the singing coach fairy, and literally all of the ocean/beach fairies had an IRON grip on 7 year old me
Same on Amy the Amethyst Fairy!! I especially loved her cuz I was also into Steven Universe and Amethyst was my favorite character back then lolol. And the Ocean Fairies were all so cool too.
YES OH MY GOD! Amy literally MADE my summer.
I LOVED THE JEWEL FAIRIES
The Jewel & Party fairies were my favourites.
Learning that Daisy Meadows wasn't a real person was truly a formative and scarring experience. Also, finding out that Shakespeare was inspired by Rainbow Magic in naming the king and queen Oberon and Titania
I think you mean the rainbow magic names were inspired by Shakespeare, not the other way around.
@@makennashuter6606that was probably a joke
The image of Jack Frost threw me back 15 years holy shit I’m going to have to read the books again I remember little of the actual “plot”
Well.....there's not much for plot.
...You just unlocked an ENTIRE vault in my brain I didn't even know was hidden... I loved these as a kid and I don't even think I remember any of what it was about. Did i just see the covers somewhere and imagine the rest??
They renamed Saffron to sunny and Izzy to Inky? Why???
(Also Heather is a purple flower)
I also had over 150 of these books, insane behaviour
Sunny is a good name (look at my pfp lol) but Saffron is cooler, prettier, and much more unique honestly.
Probably because Saffron is red and not yellow, if you think of the spice
@@ButterFlyGardenBlossomI can never escape emo boi
@@ButterFlyGardenBlossomomori mention
I remember when I started transitioning out of the rainbow magic books, telling my mum "they're just quite tedious" (a word I'd recently learned) and I think I cracked her up with that because I was still quite young
When I was younger I borrowed a magic fairy book from the library, then I lost it.
After 5 years I finally found it but I thought it was too late and if I ever stepped into a library the police would come after me!
Last year I stepped into the library after 10 years
And sometimes I still have to look over my shoulder just to make sure that the police weren’t in the corner waiting to arrest me
As someone who lives in the UK, these books were EVERYTHING. (At least to me) I was so convinced fairies existed, and I wanted them to find me so bad. I'd get so excited every time I'd spot a new book since I would read them in school or from the library. I'd always get Rachel and Kirsty confused and would constantly have to remind myself who was who. Because imo their names didn't suit their faces 😅 I despiseddd Jack Frost and was salty he had that name because Rise of the Guardian's Jack is obviously superior. 💀Anyways I have to check out that anime now
Lol, I remember joking that RM Jack Frost was a detwinkified version of ROTG Jack fused with Donald Trump when I was reminiscing this series
I am currently a children’s librarian and these books are still super popular, which shocked me when I started my job!
I wrote my own book in third grade called Fallon the Farm Fairy where they were visiting Kirsty’s gran who lives on a farm in Rhode Island part time and all of her chickens eggs were rotten and the cows milk was spoiled and they had to rescue Fallons 3 magic chickens to fix the farm. Fallon became my imaginary friend at my dads house because I was a lonely child
i have absolutely no memory but in like 2nd grade i was obsessed with the party fairies, specifically cherry the cake fairy. i drew pictures of them and those pictures are still taped to my door to this day
“Hello do we have a theory on our hand mat pat?”
*remembers*
“Ugh”
Those books were so cute but I feel like the lack of AR points ruined me reading more of them. 😭
You did AR in primary?
@@yfk.abcdefghijk yes and I was obsessed with getting my points
real
I tried my best to compete with this kid who got a LOT of AR points but I couldn’t bc he got up to 800.
@@christina2763 800???? WHAT he must’ve been reading those dragon books and Stephen King omg
This book series is the actual reason I became an artist and wanted to be a character designer they are literally my childhood- And I still own a box of my copies of the books I have , still keeping them!
the rainbow, party, jewel and day fairies are the only four series translated to Dutch and they're my childhood! I found out like two years ago that there are so many more in English which is wild haha. Am currently on a quest to find all four series in thrift stores and I've found a lot of them already :D
Ok but the weekday fairies and the pet fairies
Hi, Amandaxx. UK person herex.x Re "Heather", I think the authors were trying ti reference the flower heather, which often comes in a light purple colour.
I was so obsessed with these books at age 5 I named my cat after Amber the Orange Fairy... the nostalgia this has awakened in me man
Stopppp me and my sister used to play with these books like dolls and we were OBSESSED with them lol. Thanks for unlocking this forgotten chapter of my childhood
i was obsessedddd w these books, i would go to the library w my friend and the next day i would return it and get the next one lol, they are probably the reason i like reading now, i dont remember much of the lore all i remember are good vibes
My most painful childhood memories was that because I'd always read the Rainbow Magic books to myself in my head, I'd always read the word 'chaos' in the poem at the start as 'chay-ousse' and when I read it out to my mother and she said it was wrong, I was so embarrassed.
Bro I was OBSESSED with this series when I was a kid
Omg you triggered a core memory from my childhood of playing with my very large collection of these books. Like I would have them all out and use the covers as dolls.
9:47 I thought Jack’s hand was a wig the goose was wearing 😭
YOOO ME TOO!
This.. even just the thumbnail brought back a wave of nostalgia that I was not ready for... wow
I loved these books so much as a kid, the moment I’d be taken to the library I’d run over to the shelves to find them!
Pet Fairies is my favorite of the series as well, the idea of pets being able to choose their owners is so awesome! Loved the ending of it too.
The fact that it’s still going on today is incredibly surreal, makes me feel like they’ll still be in production when I’m an old lady.
Awesome video!
THESE BOOKS WERE MY ENTIRE CHILDHOOD OMG 😭I had so many of them; they took up over half of my book cupboard.
Seeing the covers of the Crystal Fairies was so nostalgic - they were my favourite by far.
Oh my gosh! What a trip down memory lane indeed! Before watching this video a remembered absolutely NOTHING about the plot of these books I only remembered that I absolutely LOVED the orange fairy cause that was basically the only book in the series that I owned and had my parents read to me multiple times. Meanwhile, my sister owned every single one of these books (that were out at the time) and read every single one of them!
Also, thank you for including pictures of the illustrations from the books! That Jack Frost picture unlocked a memory I didn't know I had.
The Rainbow Magic books were my childhood!! Thank you for making this!
These books were literally my first real chapter book series and as a kid I tried my hardest to read all the books and I could mixed up Kirsty and Rachel for a good part of it but seriously the last books I remember reading were the friendship fairies, and by that time I was basically grown out of them but now all these new books are just blowing mind. Yeah I really did not expect some these at all.
This uncovered nostalgic memories I forgot I had. Thank you. I can't believe I forgot this series?
It seems like we had very simular childhoods (at least bookwise) And I JUST love hearing you talk about it! You're amazing!!❤
Omg this brings back too many memories!! I would play fairies with my other cousins when we were younger and we used the map at the beginning of the book as our world and we’d all pick a fairy to be it was so much fun! Running around in the forest near our cottage pretending that the evil goblins are chasing us was so much fun. I was so happy over the moon when a fairy came out with the name Scarlett since that is my name and it was my favourite book in the whole world! Those books were the only books I’d ever touch as a child since I’m not and never was a big reader but wow they bring back so many memories!!!! The school book fairs was always so excited because they always had them. Does anyone else remember Geronimo Stilton’s books About the mouse people? That and the fairy books was my whole world when I was a kid 😊
This brings back so many memories, I used to enjoy the little drawings within the pages of the books. It was fun to read as a young kid, my school libraries used to have a whole shelf of said books and it's always somewhat empty since we little kids would always borrow them. This video brought back so much nostalgia lol.
I remember the sweet type fairies, the rainbow ones, and weather fairies - i probably still have one of the books from school. still one of the best magical, fantasy books i've ever read to this day
this series had such a chokehold on me as a kid
yes! i remember always wondering why their parents looked like they were switched haha 😭
My childhood with this book was a fever dream 😭 Like I have completely forgotten that I watched the anime. The rainbow fairies will forever hold a place in my heart as it introduced me to reading chapter books.
My mom used to be so annoyed when I borrowed these books allow side geromino Stilton as the plot was nonexistent but they were just so heavy 😂
I remember these books very fondly. I had the box set of the rainbow fairies that came with a necklace. This series started my love for fairies when I got one of the books as a gift
omgg this brought back so many memories 😭 i was definitely also obsessed with the covers too. even now i still think they are so pretty
These books had a chokehold on me....when I say I collected ALL of them, I mean ALL of them. Every single one that was available when I was a kid
I read and was obsessed with these books when i was about seven, my sister who's six is now reading my old copies 10 years later. I have to say rereading them with her has been such a spiral of nostalgia.
I loved these books in first, second, and I think maybe third grade! I pretended that I believed in fairies(I never believed in anything fake) to try to convince others at school that they were real. I got bullied because of this, and it made me cry. But I never told anyone at school I didn’t really think I knew fairies.
these and geronimo stilton books were good times lol
I loved the Thea sisters they should have given them a spin off show when the Geronimo books got a show
this is how i found out the Geronimo stilton books got a show lol@@infinitikokomorich
@@infinitikokomorich It would make such a good kids show, since their whole gimmick is that they travel the world. There's limitless potential!
Also, when I was a kid I was so upset that Geronimo got a show but didn't get any movies based off the Kingdom of Fantasy
@@genericname2747 omg I was so sad 🥲
@@infinitikokomorichI would watch the Thea Stilton show if they made one! I still read the books! It's a guilty pleasure of mine
I LOVED THESE BOOKS SO MUCH AS A CHILD i had so many of them i absolutely adored them they were my favorite book series
I used to love playing the online dress up game. I wanted to try and make every possible fairy combination, I don’t think I ever did tho:,,)
Awakening childhood memories of random stuff is so fun.
I had over 160 of these books as a kid. Me and my sister collected them while others collected pokemon cards. I never knew they were so popular in america. I thought they were only british, but i am so happy so many kids got to have these books as a childhood memory ❤
I was obsessed with these books. Omg the nostalgia 😭 😍
We had these in my primary school library in the UK!! This just unlocked so many memories lmao
the way i just started collecting as many of these books as possible as a little kid and only stopped when i moved states 😭 still have my whole collection in my closet. ty for the sudden nostalgia 🙏🏻
I used to love these books!! My local library had a ton of them (im south African btw)
I also remember reading the Magic animal friends written by the same Authors.
i loved the Twin fairies so much i drew them
I’ve read a few of these! I enjoyed them so much. I didn’t actually follow the order of the series. But I remember reading Ruby the Red Fairy book and a Rapunzel Fairy book. I can’t remember any others, but I did know some girls were obsessed with these in my class.
OH MY GOD THE NOSTALGIA I’VE BEEN HIT WITH
Wait, THIS IS THAT SERIES WITH JACK FROST AND THE GOBLINS!!
I don’t remember really any of the plot lines, but I definitely remember Jack Frost existing and the goblins’ designs.
8:48 OMG girl same…Matt Patt was so OG😢
6:52 when Kate Middleton married into the royal family, 'Kate the Royal Wedding Fairy' was released in UK bookstores everywhere lol
This brings back memories. I always got a new book in the series whenever I went to the local bookstore with my mom... and it's sadly closed now. I either stopped reading them after the day of the week or flower fairies, and I think I had the first two special editions. I remember loving it so much that I had dreams involving the fairies.
We had these in my community library in Germany as well! My sister and I loved them in elementary school :)
THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD BROO
This series slaps. Still does.
I had like 50 of the books when i was younger... God this threw me back...
This was my favorite series when I was like 8! And just for curiosity, I looked it up and apparently the series currently has 76 tagged works on ao3, most of them written post-pandemic
The christmas fairies were my fav! And I actually got a necklace from one of the books I actually still wear!!
You should do Goddess Girls next! I used to get the scholastic magazines in class and ordered them back in the 2000s
Ooh, good idea! But what about "The A-Z Mysteries"???
This is so random but you are so pretty, and also your hair matches your face tone so well I’m so jealous omg
I used to be really obsessed with this series when I was little lol
I remember seeing both the UK and US versions of the books and getting confused over the name changes
Also if I recall correctly, Naomi the Netball Fairy was rewritten into a whole other sport in the other version
It's surprising how I never knew there was an animated show considering how obsessed I was with these books
Also I think the "no time passes" doesn't only apply to Fairyland, it also happens with wherever they teleport to
Omg this unlocked some old memories. I remember getting excited during the book event every week at school to try and buy a Rainbow Magic book :0 I remember my favorite one was Ruby the red fairy because my name was also Ruby.
I'm from Australia, and these book were my upper childhood (9-10yrs). We used to go on holiday to a cabin retreat, and my sister and I were in bunk beds. Mum read these books to us before bed, and we nearly got through the whole series at the time.
Simple times...
OMG!!! I wasn't the only one to play with them as dolls. My sister and I did that growing up, and my parents make fun of us for it. I absolutely loved these books as a kid.
The rainbow magic anime was my favourite movie when I was like 7, the DVD came in a book set and I watched it obsessively
The rainbow fairies was my introduction to reading, loved those books! Till this day it still had a major influence on me as I've started to create characters and stories. Also I always prefer the 3in1 books cause tracking down all the series book was a nightmare at my local library
I never actually read ANY of these as a little kid, I just rushed to check all of them out before the other girls could and stared at the cover for weeks before turning them back in. The only one I read was Cherry the Cake Fairy-
Holy moly!! I was just rereading this book series to get inspiration for a video game I’m writing. And then you made this!! Thank you!!! I’m going to bring one of the books to class to read to my friend, who shares a name with the fairy of that book.
This book series was truly everything when I was little. My favorite was a certain one of the Jewel Fairies because a) she shared a name with my mom and b) her gem was also my favorite Steven Universe character. :)
OMG I REMEMBER WATCHING THE ANIME!! I vividly remember watching the specific episode you mentioned with the snowmen, but nothing else. I had no idea it was a book series!
i owned over 150 of these books as a kid and still have some of them. im so happy this popped up on my fyp cause i really missed these books
I live in Canada and remember getting one at a Scholastics Book Fair around 2007/2008. It was one of the light blue/sky blue backgrounds on the cover. For some reason, I didn't remember reading it and only got it cause it had a pretty cover. 💀
I made an entire video essay about this a couple months back, so glad more people are covering the rainbow magic books and anime bc it was my entire childhood
I was obsessed with the fashion kinda fairies
I never readed these books but I remember seeing them in the library as a kid and they looked so cute! ❤
The orange fairy book from the rainbow fairy book was my first ever chapter book when I was 9. I was so proud of myself considering I struggled in reading and writing so much. Never finished the other books tho lol
I've been re-reading all the different series (+ reading some for the first time) for the past two years and I'm still not done yet... but every series is so fun!
I´m from Austria and I had these books as a child, LOVED them
I'm not even close to neither the uk nor the us, basically I'm in east Asia, but the other day I stumbled across this on the internet and my ENTIRE CHILDHOOD came back flooding in my head. I was devouring these books, but I forgot their names later on in life and never had the chance to look back:)))) such a weird feeling learning that it has got 300 books by now
This was my FAVORITE book series when I was younger!!! I remember that I couldn’t read them FULLY FULLY so I would imagine what’s happening half the time- until my grandma saw me and helped-
Also I am SO happy you pointed out that their parents looked swapped I thought that SO much when I was younger-
My cousin just started reading these and is obsessed. Now I have a basic understanding and can talk to her about it
I completely forgot about these books, I had so many of them, I was OBSESSED with them
Girl you just unlocked some hidden memories for me, I used to LOVE the rainbow fairy books
