Dear Roger, thanks for everything in the last 23 years. You were/are and will be the best what happened to this sport. The best representative ever. Oncourt and offcourt. The GOAT celebrates his 40th today. Enjoy this day with all your beloved ones and all the best for next 40👍

I was 9 years in 2001 and I had grown up watching Pistol Pete until then. Super attacking, offensive tennis. I knew sometime around 2000 when Pete got beaten by Safin in the US Open final in 2000 that it was time for tennis to find a new hero and in the following months I was searching, searching for that excitement that Pete once brought in me when watching tennis. Nobody. But there was Safin, Hewitt, Ferrero, Moya - all baseline counter punchers with none of the elegance and positive attacking intent of players like Pete or Edberg. Then came the quarterfinal of Wimbledon 2001 and as usual I geared up to cheer my man Pete Sampras. I honestly hadn't heard of a certain Roger Federer until then. But here was a 19 year old kid who juggled the ball between his legs while walking and he didn't once miss the juggle. And his arrogance, that's what it looked to me at first, was such that he was twirling the racket in his hand while receiving serves from Pete!!!! Who does he think he is? Then I saw something special. This kid matched Sampas ace for ace, served and volleyed as well as Pete did that day. Never once did he appear uncomfortable on his backhand. Pete's backhand had become an apparent weakness during his twilight years. The kid's forehand was also a weapon. And the best of all, this kid appeared to be floating while moving on the Wimbledon Center court. I had never seen footwork like that before. I knew that when the match was over I had found my heir apparent to Pete and 20 years and 20 GS's later I still know that I had witnessed the coming of age of the best player that I had ever seen. You made the game beautiful for me otherwise I would have probably given up on tennis. Thank you Roger.

Everyone is taught two-handed backhand at first, it's way easier, good for beginners when it's crucial to hit shots within the court and avoid mistakes. It's also pretty good to learn two-handed even if you switch to one-handed some time later because some balls, fast ones that you hit in full run, are sometimes better to be returned with two-handed. Other than this if you feel like you wanna learn one-handed, go for it, coach is just a guy you pay to give you suggestions and help you improve. Remember that you hire him, not the other way. I've switched kinda naturally to one-handed which wasn't my coach idea, either. I tried to hit easier balls with one-handed at first, I watched YT tutorials, then my coach started to give me some advice in that regard and later he stopped telling me to use two-handed completely so now I use two-handed for difficult balls since I am still far from good with one-handed but overall I feel way more natural with one-handed which might be the result of playing table tennis for years as a kid where one-handed backhand is the only one you have. The reason Roger is one of the 'greats' was driven home to me during the Olympic tennis tournament. Novak's behavior was an international embarrassment - one racquet thrown into the stands, another destroyed against the net post, and in Japan. How culturally insensitive. When Roger and Rafa retire it will be a sad day. When Novak retires, I'll just think to myself, "see ya!"

Most weeks number 1 ?? Don't cry some more .. 😭😭😭😭😇😭😁🙏👍😇
I am a hardcore cricket fan federer is the one who made me watch tennis
The reason Roger is one of the 'greats' was driven home to me during the Olympic tennis tournament. Novak's behavior was an international embarrassment - one racquet thrown into the stands, another destroyed against the net post, and in Japan. How culturally insensitive.
When Roger and Rafa retire it will be a sad day. When Novak retires, I'll just think to myself, "see ya!"
Novak breaks raquets as well as fedal in their own surfaces😉
Okay whatever makes you go to sleep at night kid🤣🤣 novak is living rent free lol 😂
@@sagnikbiswas3450 Oh yeah Novak can beat an out of prime Fed and Nadal, amazing job, so impressive!
@@aesir1ases64 weakerer can only beat players like roddick and hewitt. Also he was dominated by a teenager lol. Prime nadal would have raped prime fed

Hard to argue that Federer at his peak is simply the best tennis player.
