I love how the choreography kinda tells a story. In the game's lore these two characters have a contentious relationship and it really comes through in this match. Like, Geese is all, "Come at me, you little weakling." And Rock is giving it his all and just barely manages to pull a win. The subtly is there and it's fantastic! ❤❤❤

This was the most anime thing I've seen from the CVS2 TAS videos besides Shin Akuma vs. Ultimate Rugal.
The struggle of a kind-hearted boy having to face the cold-blooded father he never knew, using techniques from both said father and his mentor. Starting with an epic intro of "Why is my blood boiling?!" "Come on.....", then leading into a series of DBZ-style dodges, flurry attacks, cross-ups galore, intense blocking skills, and reppuukens that have an intermission in the form of a double KO. Add some Ultra Instinct nonsense at the end from Rock parrying every single attack like it's EVO Moment 37, and this is peak anime.

I love how Rock's moves are a mix or Geese's and Terry's.
This was a truly spectacular tool-assisted 1-on-1 battle to behold! First time watching, I was cheering for Rock from start to finish! If this were an episode of KOF: Destiny in which Rock fights his own father's nightmare, this is how I would hope for it to turn out!

Modern Capcom fighters are 2.5D. What they mean is probably pure sprite based 2D.

列風拳、ダブル烈風拳、レイジングストーム、デッドリーレイブなど、同じ技を同じようなタイミング(もしくは時間差)で出すことは打ち合わせで可能だとしても、あれほどの押収と、必ず接戦になり、レイジングストームの同時発動による相討ちやPARRYINGなど、打ち合わせだけでは出来ない壮大な親子喧嘩、死闘をこの目で確かに見せて頂きました！

When I used to play I never really understood the groove system, was it explained much in game or people just had to figure it out?
@@redgrave4492 More figure it out. Since most of the grooves were from old fighting games.
3 from Capcom Side: C-Groove, A-Groove, and P-Groove cause you know CAP lol
3 from SNK side: S-Groove, N-Groove, and K-Groove again SNK.
C-Groove is pretty much like Street Fighter Alpha Super Meter
A-Groove is like Street Fighter Alpha 2 because it let's you do custom combos
P-Groove is basically Street Fighter 3 super except you can't stack supers or use EX moves.
I know little to nothing about the SNK grooves.
S-Groove is basically playing KoF94, you have a sidestep dodge and can't use MAX supers unless you have low health and a full meter at the same time
N-Groove works similarly to 97's Advanced mode, you can charge up to 3 stocks and enter MAX mode to access your MAX supers. You can also roll
K-Groove is a mix of Samurai Shodown's rage system where you gain meter by getting hit with some of Garou MotW's mechanics like just defended which works sort of like a party except you regain a minimal amount of health
That is literally how that battle would go. I want Rock in Tekken 7 so we can have an epic 3D version of this fight...

Besides Shin Akuma vs Omega Rugal, and Ryu vs Ryo, this is among the best choreographed fights I've seen in fighting games!

I love watching this and the God Rugal vs Shin Akuma fight back to back because while the other one has all of 3 attacks actually connecting, this one has them both getting those sick, flashy SNK moves and combos, one after another.

For all that heat and taunting his father did to him, I wish Rock could have buried his father with the Jacket Toss ending:
"Oi, abayo..."
Rock is programmed to finish like that if his final move is one from Geese. He also has a wing ending if it's one of terry's moves
If I remember correctly the jacket toss is scripted to happen off of a shining knuckle finish. Dunno if it needs to be lv3 or not, as I ran k groove back in the day and never saw otherwise...

I miss this game. I still have it but don’t have a PS2. The music was dope, the sfx would get me hype, the announcer was dope, and the controls were perfect. This is definitely a top 5 fighter for me.

Rock aprendió a pelear por Terry para canalizar el poder que heredó de Geese Howard (el real 1er boss de KOF en la saga Fatal Fury).
Cálculo que como Rugal de KOF, Geese tuvo su hijo cuándo este fue vencido por Terry en Fatal Fury sin este saberlo...

Fue un combate emocionante, ambos dieron lo mejor de su arsenal!! Aunque me llamó la atención lo que hizo Rock, lo de utilizar su Raging Storm como un «armor» :) ...es posible eso o fue un glitch?
se limito geese, no hizo sus remates y de haber sido nightmare geese no hubiese tenido ninguna oportunidad rock en su modo supersayayin tienen que actualizar a ese personaje y hacer mas violento que ocupe algunas tecnicas de su tio
Si, es un glitch...no sirve para nada, y desaparece facilmente, pero quedaba bien en la "película" 🤣

Nice tool assisted fight! I miss this era of fighting games- this classic had unlockable fighters and a color editor. Sure, games look nicer now but they launch with barebones content with the rest of the game being patched in later and everything costs extra- colors, stages, characters.
