Misha mentioned something that relates to how I felt about the guitar tone on Loathe’s album I let it in… when I first heard it after being so accustomed to the metalcore tone for years and years it was almost jarring until I listened to it a couple times, now it’s undoubtedly one of my favorite albums. And favorite tones ever

This opinion rules and I totally relate to this. That’s been my favorite record since 2020 and has become one of my favorite records ever. And yeah man that tone was so FAT and full and dirty yet clear without sounding like every hyper processed modern tone

I've always been fascinated with music, ever since I was a kid. I'm now getting into music theory and I'm using an mpcx with synths, I'm using GGD, I'm getting outboard rack gear like compressors and eqs, im just now able to afford better gear and I'm taking full advantage of it. I'm not just playing guitar, I'm doing everything and I'm having a blast doing it. My RUclips performances are far from perfect but I'm having fun and I'm constantly learning. Music has always been a part of my life and it always will.

I really don’t like the gear snobbery, because I think it facilitates a lack of focusing on writing music, and more on how everything sounds. I used to be obsessed, and to a certain extent, still amp with guitars, pedalboards, amps etc, but once I find something that just works for my playing, I just stick with it now. And since I’ve forgotten about whether my tone is great or not, I’ve written some of the best music I could have

I got about as good as I possibly could but eventually playing songs or jamming out for an audience of no one gets old.
I imagine it would still get old even if I was in a band & had audiences, because everything just eventually gets old.
Playing the same setlist over & over, the constant traveling (I hate traveling) etc.
Eventually I sold my drums, now I just airdrum when listening to music lol

Focus on music 100% and less on guitar. Guitar is just the fourth most important spice in a mix. VOCALS -> DRUMS -> BASS-> GUITAR. (AS A GUITARIST !!!) Most guitar tones lose 50% of their mojo in a mix anyways (low pass / high pass + 2-3 eq points and the tone is mix ready meaning its DEAD to a guitarist.)

I think the hardest thing nowadays is that guitar isn’t “mainstream” it’s easy for people who like pop/rap/edm to stay motivated because they have a tie to current pop culture
Now I’m not saying that something has to be mainstream for it to be easier to stick with, but it would for sure as hell help if we still had bands as grand the old giants like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, queen, Floyd
Every kid and their neighbors wanted to be a rockstar nowadays that is not the case. Guitar centers/stores are not filled with little headbangers trying to be the next zeppelin
I feel until we have a shift of the popularity of music guitar is just a nerdy and uncool hobby to be into unfortunately
