I'm a Maharashtrian and as all Maharashtrian families, my mom too has taught me how to make the staple kande pohe. I some how always messed it up. But I learnt the literal science behind the ingredients and thus when I made kande pohe today, they turned out perfect!!! Yes i could have added am additional mirch or two and a little more sugar would have made it taste better, but the poha was a hugeeeee improvement from what i had made in the past. And for the first time i thought it was so easy to make. No wonder it's a staple in our household. Thank you for explaining the basics and make it easy for us amature enthusiasts.

Yes...being from Konkan myself, our addition to this preparation would be freshly grated coconut, a little sugar during the cooking, maybe a pinch of cummin seeds to pop with the mustard seeds at the start, a quarter of a lime on the side while serving, our subtraction would be the peanuts / groundnuts....
@@amolk6731 We use hing (asafoetida), curry leaves, mustard and cumin seeds along with green chillies at the start then add chopped onions, potatoes, and some salt to help it cook the mixture, tomatoes are also added although it's optional. We do add groundnuts in our poha but roasted one. Then we add turmeric, poha, salt and bit sugar. Stir it well so the turmeric properly coats the poha. Add teensy bit of water as well to soften up the poha. Garnish it with coriander in the end. We also use freshly grated coconut and sprinkle some lemon juice. Ha that's so scrumptious and mouth-watering. 😍😍🤤🤤 Love me some poha!! 🥰🥰

Being Maharashtrian One tip if I may... my mother passed it on to me... first make oil very hot and fry peanuts immediately and lower the flame and carry on the process. It makes peanuts more crunchy and tasty while eating.

One of the interesting fact .you married to Maharashtrian
Being a true blue Maharashtrian, Ranveerji ....I was truly thrilled to know your Maharashtrian connection....shayad isi liye Kande Pohe pasand aye...thanks Veerji....
Hi ranveer, I've been making this kanda poha from more than a year now and ghar k sab logon ko itna pasand ata hai poha har baar ki ab pohe ka contract unhone muje hi de diya hai 😂 and i really enjoy making it... Kyuki wo kha kr sabke face pe jo smile aati hai, it's all worth! Thank you sooo much for sharing this amazing recipe loved itt!❤❤
Being Maharashtrian One tip if I may... my mother passed it on to me... first make oil very hot and fry peanuts immediately and lower the flame and carry on the process. It makes peanuts more crunchy and tasty while eating.
We use roasted peanuts in poha not fried one.
Agreed but he is referring to Maharashtrian version of pohe. I mean majority of home procedure, of course you can have your own ways.
Agreed
Love this dish a lot.
At my home groundnuts are roasted before adding and while serving it's topped with freshly grated coconut and a wedge of lime.. can't imagine poha without that.
Also potato you added are first shallow fried to light brown crust at my home, it adds super taste.
Thanks again for sharing and haan... bhai Sasural ka majak thoda kam udao 😋
