    I hated writing college application essays so much that I only applied to one school! 😂 Fortunately I was accepted and mostly by luck it was a really good fit for me. I love writing, but I find application essays to be soul-sucking.

      I also hate writing papers and writers from myeasypaper.com are my life saviors. That's a perfect option for those who like studying but cannot afford wasting lots of time on writing. I spend ages on writing, while I have to work, so the writers really help me to save my position on work and maintain good grades in my university.

    I'm so not ready for college in the future. I'm for sure going to fail miserably. But I still haven't matured all the way, I'm still a middle schooler. But jeez it sound so tough to get and stay in college.

    • @xSmuckerZxJelly
      @xSmuckerZxJelly 6 лет назад +3

      Autumn Mosier A few lessons:
      1. Never know for sure what's in the future
      2. Stop having a negative future or vision of yourself
      3. Anyone can come back from mistakes. If you suck in school rn it honestly doesn't matter since middle school doesn't count for shit. Mistakes are good aswell because you learn from them
      4. Build a good work ethic. That's the one trait it takes to have good grades. Do your hw and study hard and you should have no problem
      5. Create a vision for yourself and work towards it. Make it an immensely positive one. The one you have right now with failure is garbage so throw it in the trash and think of success
      6. Don't procrastinate and try your hardest before high school to get rid of that awful trait. Caused me lots of trouble in high school
      I would be telling this to my stupid middle school self so learn from my mistakes lol

    Hey I am currently very stressed about writing my college essays lol and I have a quick question. I feel that my passion for science and learning is probably the most defining part of my character, BUT I don't want my essay to seem broad, cliche, or like I am just trying to impress the college! Do you think if I told the story about the time at a science museum when I realized how excited science made me that this topic would be specific enough? Btw I wrote a full essay this morning about how adopting a positive mindset has changed my life then trashed it bc I know that is too cliche hahha helpppp. This was a very helpful video btw!!

    • @xSmuckerZxJelly
      @xSmuckerZxJelly 6 лет назад +5

      Rsheeda Shahid Not many people have one life changing moment in their lives either.
      Everybody has passions. Either you're oblivious to it or haven't found it. Start asking questions and go off from there. What do you like to do? What do you love?
      You also forgot conflict. Any conflicts you could write about. Not many people have a conflict in their life that's worth writing an essay about too, but I once read about a unique topic that was about someone who was a white male born in a rich family who wrote about how his lack of conflicts was a conflict in itself because it was difficult to write or think of essay topics.
      You could literally write almost anything about yourself. One of my favorite topics is how my aspirations shaped me into the human being I am today
      Goodluck on your essay!

    Hi, I am a 10th grade student from Poland. Our high school starts at 10th grade and is very challenging. This year I have 16 subjects to pass. We have grades from 1 to 6 and 6 is the best. Most of the time you have to win a competition to get 6. Last year I had the best GPA in my school: 5.67. This semester my GPA will be much lower propably like 4,4- 4,6, maybe even worse because I missed a month of school. I was playing in film ( I played in many films in my life and I want to continue It) and I had some problems at school. Now I have a problem only with advanced math ( this is the only one advanced subject I have this year, It's normal in Poland and almost everybody in school has a problem with math. My school is one of the best schools in city) and maybe one other subject. Propably I will have 2... My teacher told me that I shouldn't worry so much because I will be better next semester/year and It's normal on my situation, but I am afraid that It destroyes my chances for getting into Harvard or any Ivy.Next month I will find some extra activities, now I volunteer only.
    I want to study science, especially biology and It's one of my passions. I think I have a chance to write SAT well If I improve my English. I want to take many activities and I can tell a lot about working on a film set and my passions, but I'm afraid that my grades won't be so good. Do I still have a chance for getting into Harvard ( or maybe some other Ivy)?

    This is a good example, but you can't use this _exact_ choice of words, because this was written by Dave Barry:
    It's getting late on a school night, but I'm not letting my son go to bed yet. "Robert," I'm saying in a firm voice, "come to the kitchen right now and blow-dry the ant!"

    I understand this is from three years ago but I really think the advice you put on here is quite misguided. Main reason being that only three of the topic essay prompts for 2020 have anything to do with personal growth, not five. Unless I am sorely mistaken and the following two prompts have anything to do with personal growth:
    1. Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?
    2. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
    However I find it unlikely that they would put such trick questions in there. There doesn't seem to be any indication in these two that you have to write about personal growth and it seems rather disingenuous to me to have a tip that says: focus on personal growth when there are four prompts in total (the other two you already mentioned were more broad) that have nothing to do with personal growth. I understand you are just trying to give tips but I dont really see any logical sense in these tips. You are essentially saying that you should focus on only three of the seven prompts because those are easier or better to do I guess? Which doesnt make any sense because it depends far more on the student and how easy they find it to express themselves through a topic of personal growth or something else, colleges arent looking for personal growth or else their prompts would all revolve around personal growth, it doesnt make any sense for them to just include four possibilites to write about things where if you write about them you will just get rejected.
    Of course if the prompts were different before that makes sense but you should still be aware of that making the video, prompts change every year this is something you need to be aware of making tips that revolve around prompts. It just seems quite manipulative and frustrating to give this extremely narrow advice and say, 'well it cant be wrong because Im a harvard graduate.' I completely changed my essay based on this advice to eventually realise that it really makes no sense. This is very disingenuous and you should at least put a disclaimer that prompts have changed.
