I agree with making sure to name specific professors and projects you are interested in working on to show why you'd like to attend the specific graduate program. It also helps to make sure it's a good fit and also helpful to know for interviews and visit days! Nice video.
Great to hear from you again, Jon! Your video was very informative and I found it extremely useful. I wish I had come across it earlier when I was applying for grad school. For any international students reading this, I would like to offer some advice based on my experience. I highly recommend reaching out to professors from the programs you are interested in before applying. You can check if there is a research fit and whether they have space in their lab, among other things. I understand that this may not be the norm in Europe (at least from my experience there at college), but it's always worth sending an email- it can never hurt! worst case scenario you won't get an answer. It worked for me, and helped me get into my top 2 PhD programs at Ivy League schools. Hope this (unasked) help will be useful for some international folks :)
This was very helpful! I’m applying this semester. Could you make a video reading one of your SOP that got you into that program? I think that would be really helpful to visualize how these tips came together ❤❤
For the second paragraph, if the university also asks for a personal statement, should we leave the anecdotal reasons for our motivations to pursue grad school to that essay? Thanks!
Hey, very informative and useful video. I am working on my application for my master's and I was wondering if the use of AI to frame sentences is allowed while writing an SOP. I am aware of the fact that I need to be as authentic as possible but the sentence construction, the flow of the essay and the grammar are some of the challenges I am facing. So, can I use AI for this and of course use synonyms and alter the sentences later? thank you for your help:)
Maybe it is just me. But you spend a lot of time talking about things unrelated to the topic. All people want to know is structrure and tips.1/3 of the way and still waiting.
Good info, but waaaaaay too much hand movement, which was quite distracting in the 1st 5-6 min. Had to scroll to comments & just listen to manage the distraction.
Hey your earlier videos helped a lot. I ended up being accepted to a PhD at UCLA
Sweet! Congrats!

Hi @bonchonjonjon Do you have advise for someone who is persuading to go back for Masters after 5-6 years of work experience in the same field?

Great, could you share the sample you used?
Thats great Dear Jonjon. can you review my sop?
Hi. Do you provide individual help for SOP especially.
Is there an age limit?
Not at all, though they're may be requirement for having finished your undergraduate degree.
