Kenin's biggest weapon is her mind. She's so far shown great ability to leave the previous point in the past and focus on the next single point ahead of her. Allows her to deal with pressure situations beautifully. In the finals against Garbine, Kenin was down love-40 in the 5th game on her serve, and she followed with 3 winners, an ace, and a passing shot to win the game. Clear momentum shift that helped her take the match in that final set.

@Nil Zensei - Excellent point! Just listen to the crowd and you can seethat the claps and cheers were way more for Coco than they were for Kenin, so you were right and that she not only has the strokes, but has the mental toughness too. That’s what all major champions have, because every player at the highest level has the strokes.

the WTA backhand is a thing of beauty. I get that the ATP pace is faster so its harder for male pros to have a backhand technique with so much backswing, but its still amazing to see how far back the ladies get that racket. with Kenin in particular this match, the racket literally comes so far back that for a moment its pointed toward her right haha.

The coach and father of Sofia Kenin found a way to help out if his daughter is under-performing in one such match in tennis. If his daughter is losing, he moves to a seat right next to the coach of the opposing player without social distancing. This disturbs the tennis opponent of Kenin so much that she starts getting distracted and the opponent starts losing against Kenin.

you could argue the other way too. maybe coco was overperforming because of all the encouragement and support that she had and kenin was a hurdle she just couldn't get through despite the support. Only Coco and those close to her can really say for sure. I'm not saying you're wrong, but just pointing out that crowd support and pressure can work both ways.

Dakota Jara Lenin’s also six years older. The muscularity and durability of a 15 year old is much different than that of a 21 year old. And Kenin was only dominant because Gauff let off the gas and lost focus. She was going toe to toe with Kenin and had she kept that intensity she could’ve won

Don't even bother reading the comments for this video. Clearly these people didn't come here for the love of tennis.

How is Kenins personality? Is she fun off the court? I LOVE her game but I haven’t been excited about her personality too much. So many of us want a person who is all around a good player and a fun and good person to be around.

I believe gauff defeated osaka in a previous round. The commentators were likely bringing up the previous match and comparing the strengths that gauff showed in that previous match to what they were seeing (or were hoping to see) in the current match vs kenin.
