- Sorcerers are spell casters in D&D that draw their magic from innate sources, or in other words, they are meta. How would your Sorcerer react to you making them?

Give Ranger a break and finish him up! Or at least give him a stat or two so he has hope 🙂
At least give him a name
Press E to pay respect to Range :D
E
E
Rangers are a good class! Be kind.
I'm sorry sorcerer. Wild magic just adds the spice I need in life.
It's not you, it's me.
Ya, wild magic is like the best subclass. You get the ability to get advantage on anything, then when you cast as spell wild magic goes off, and you can use advantage again! It's just the most sorcery one
Especially if you pledge to the fool's gold Kickstarter and are willing to bend the rules a bit. LET CHAOS REIGHN!
Who doesn't want a ball of chaos?
I made a Halfling Wild Magic Sorcerer who is a terrorist in a side campaign I'm in. Level 10, and for my metamagics took Subtle, Seeking, Empowered, Careful, and Transmute spell. I was given a Feywild Shard for maximum Wild Magic Surging. I told the dm at the outset that I *WILL* blow myself up with the self-centered Fireball at least once.
@@nathanfivecoate5848 scary guy
By the end of all episodes there will be one where all the characters are assassinated one by one. The culprit? The ranger. While no one was looking, in the shadows, he became a gloomstalker. This is what they get. For underestimating the ranger
Ya know, I think that would be a pretty good idea for a finale. I hope it turns out that way. xD
AYAYAYAYAAYAYAYY spoilers!
Thatd be great! Gloomstalker is arguably best ranger. Which is sad cuz it's very rogue like lol
Funnily enough I’m currently playing one😅
@@privateeyety5735 Arguably? Nothing else even comes close.
Poor ranger. Makes me sad that he’s disliked this much in 5e
We need justice for the ranger!
At least he's not a 3.0 Ranger - those sucked so much they could multiclass into vacuum cleaner and not lose anything.
Initial ranger was too focused on exploration for how the game was played. Moreover, on specific terrains too, which sucked.
Tasha's upgrade to rangers made them quite a bit stronger
Ya the monk Is the punching bag now.
I hope ranger gets made someday.
the ranger bit had me laughing out loud lol
ranger about to turn into the BBEG and it's gonna be the biggest plot twist ever
Shame that he won't take anyone down with him. Except maybe the wizard.
The sage background actually fits really well into wild magic. That background makes sense as to why they’d want to both study understand their magic
I like that Duke was trying to say ranger but was interrupted so he said rang, and when ranger is shown his name is rang
My father was a ranger back when he played first edition and now I am his son and I play rangers.
So, it's a family curse?
Anybody can play the best character class not everybody can the weakest. And since I don't like dying to 1d4 breathing-too-hard damage I play Rangers myself.
That is not possible, 1st edition only had fighting-man, magic-user, and cleric as playable classes. You are thinking of AD&D, it is not the same game really.
D&D goes : White box, D&D basic (the boxes and the fixed up hard cover), 3rd & 3.5, 4th and 5th. AD&D have 1st and second edition.
I want a third edition AD&D!!!
But yeah, it is bloody confusing since if you count AD&D as well there is either 7 or 8th editions out there if you count 3.5 as well. I am not sure why WoC decided to number it's D&D games the way they did, they might have planned a 3rd edition AD&D when they made the 3rd edition D&D but canned it or something. But 1st edition is certainly the White box, it was a bit strange compared to later editions and closest to D&D basic and it had a huge shortage of classes unless you added the home brew classes from magazines.
It could of course be that your father did play one of those home brew rangers but it is rather rare, D&D were super niche back then, I bet he started with AD&D or Basic (I certainly did). Yeah, I am a Grognard like your old man. :)
The son should not repeat the sins of the fathers.
Ranger classes run in the family apparently
Give Ranger some love. If you don't want him to be a Beast Master, he can be something like a Horizon Walker, a Gloom Stalker, or even a Drakewarden.
I’ve been playing a wild magic sorcerer called Enigma I asked the DM if it could be a thing where every time I cast a spell was magic happens. He said yes.
Every. single time.
It’s fun.
I love my Aarakocra Wild Magic Sorcerer, although he's done more damage to himself flying than he's done to the party through magic so far.
Turns out today was not in fact his day. It's ok Ranger, you'll always be my first 5e class and also the first class I finished a campaign with!
When is Ranger going to get his big break? My DM is playing a DMPC Ranger right now, and let me tell you, they can be really powerful if you build them right.
Probably when WotC stops treating them like shit
@@HunterTracks they've gotten better with the Tasha's optional features. I haven't seen the UA playtests but I've heard good things.
They're actually really useful for a lot of things most people are just turned off by their DPR
Tbh ranger got his break with his class update
It's a monster now but it comes with the caveat of needing to know what you're doing in order to really shine throughout a campaign
Now the class with the short stick is monk
@@tenlosolThey did get better with Tasha's, sure, and even better with the UA... Until they released the latest UA and managed to make rangers worse than they were in Tasha's.
I love rangers, but there's no denying WotC definitely treats the class like shit. Hell, it's pretty notable that, after changes to Hunter's Mark, rangers are like the only class that have lower DPR in the latest playtest than they did in 5e.
I think that part of the joke, rangers are either kind of broken, to the point some dms hate them, or really bad depending on how you build them, and most people have no idea how to build a ranger well, so yeah...
On the bright side, the Ranger can now say they're called "Rang" as for who wrote that I'm unsure
The name tag is deteroating from time
I love wild magic. If things are going badly Wild Surge! It either turns things around or lets you go out spectacularly.
Wild magic Barbarian with a level in wild magic sorcery... Now you are the walking nuke of surviving!
NGL part of me kinda wants to someday create a Wild Magic Sorcerer / Spirits Bard multiclass who takes a Magic Initiate (and possibly an Aberrant Dragonmark) to get an extra Chaos Bolt per day and picks up all the spells with randomized effects he can nab (possibly also that Red Robes feat if I'm allowed to take it for an extra Nathair's Mischief) lol
I adore the Wild Magic subclass and my Wild Magic sorcerer. I haven't had the change to play her in more than a couple of one shots yet, but the last time I played her in a battle royale, I was a god.
I’m loving my Horizon Walker Harengon Ranger, thank you. He can produce good damage with Sharpshooter, got spells to get him out of grapples & crowd control & opportunity attacks & attack with Force magicks, which not a lot of enemies have resistances to. While he’s not as proficient as a rouge or a druid in either side; he holds his own quite nicely & the optional parts to rangers give him much needed flexibility.
Once had a party with four (4) wild mages... It was pretty wild to say the least. Not a single cession without at least 5 wild surges... Not counting the casting of numerous Nahal's Reckless Dweomers and variants.
Ranger is actually a pretty good class, gloomstalkers can deal insane damage on round one and is basically invisible in dim light.
True, but that is not the PHB.
Compared to the Paladin the Ranger is weak sauce.
Glad to see Ranger finally got all wrapped up. Very emotional, very inspiring. I'll be basing my next character off of what was presented by him.
As someone who has a wild magic sorcerer in his party (and got fireballed by said sorcerer), I understand the sorcerers pain.
wild magic is a surprisingly good subclass. It’s a little risky, but a majority of the things you can roll are either helpful or harmless, with only a few negative effects. You can use the wild magic advantage ability to have advantage on everything while also getting (usually) helpful bonuses when you cast spells!
Looking forward to the Ranger next time.
Poor Ranger, may you live on in my heart as my favorite class
All hail Ranger, and may we someday see that character sheet.
Fun Fact: There is an Item called Fayeild Shard. Using it you can be any sorcerer class and when you use metamagic you can just decide to do a wild magic surge.
A correction. It's a Feywild Shard.
@@thedeathray8620 Indeed. I misspelled
I believe that the one thing that rangers are good for in 5E is exploring their specific favored terrain. Maybe do "How Each Class Traverses a Forest," give the ranger a cool moment, then let the rogue do it cooler because they took the scout subclass.
And then Wizard dies from 1d4 bug bite damage or 1d4 falling leaf damage.
That's the basic ranger. Look up the Tasha's Cauldron of Everything ranger. It is MUCH better
@@louiesatterwhite3885 Oh, I am well aware of Tasha's, and I greatly respect it and how much better it is. However, they've been going with the Player's Handbook ranger, which sucks, hence why I made the suggestion. I'm just adding to the joke.
Ranger is just waiting for Tasha's Cauldron of Everything to finally arrive. Then he'll be able to finish the build. Must have rolled a Nat 1 for the delivery.
As Aragorn said "but this day is not today" for the Ranger
Ranger not getting his time to shine is the original Dragonborn puberty meme
As I love playing Sorcerers, this is a mood.
Oh, come on! Ranger was so close this time!
I have an arcane archer Grung who started with a +5 dex, if characters could actually judge their stats I wouldn’t expect any other kind of reaction. And in a party full of powerful magic wielders, the 2 foot tall frog named Meebur still manages to put damage them all. Pop off Meebur you lucky sonovabitch!
Literally exactly how exactly how every sorcerer that I've played has gone.
Cool name ✅
19 or 20 in charisma ✅
Wild magic ✅
Fun times for me and a pain for the party... 🔥
I love how he couldn't even be bothered to finish writing "ranger" on the character sheet.
I was actually in a game once where the wild mage's wild surge helped.
Two punchlines for the price of one, nicely done.
...
Why can't I think of a good Twin Spell joke to make here?
It reminds me to my character Bruenor Battlehammer. Mountain Dwarf Wild Magic Sorcerer (Level 5), and along the campaign I have mixed with Ancient One Warlock (Level 4 with pact of the tome) and 2 levels in fighter. That been the luckiest and craziest character I’ve made so far and I love it
My first ever character was a Fire Genasi ranger and I loved her 😭
Damnit Ranger hang in there. Your time will come
The wild magic sorcerer actually grows on average. One of the effects of wild magic surge changes the size of the sorcerer. A d10, on odds they shrink on even they grow, because the evens are slightly higher on average the expected result of this effect is a growth of 0.5 inches. Multiplying that with 0.02 for the chance this effect gets picked and 0.05 for the chance a wild magic surge happens, you get an average growth of 0.0005 inches (0.00127 cm) per leveled spell cast. And 2000 spells cast for 1 inch of growth (787.4 days for 1 cm of growth.).
Congrats on the new job if that wasn't part of the sketch 😅
Wow! Your dice were pretty hot when you were rolling those characteristics!
I mean the poor sorcerer's got it out for him from the get-go. Starting with the sage background while dumping intelligence.
As a DM, my wild magic table has several thousand entries of effects, and 30 subtables XD
Shoutout to that one time I was playing in a party with a Paladin, a Warlock and a Cleric, yet my Gloomstalker Ranger just killed the boss of the session in the surprise round.
Rangers are actually really good.
Look on the bright side, Sorcerer, you can have crazy fun with wild magic.
And maybe next time Ranger will get his due.
It's alright ranger, I'll always have your back and you'll always be my go to class
Ranger doesn't get love so much, he's name is in past tense now. Rang.
I don't know HOW I missed this on release!! But I'm so glad I caught one of my favorite classes 😁😁😁 thank you Du-*wild magic explosion*....
Oh, c’mon! You know you want to finish the ranger!
"When is the ranger going to get a break?"
Me: Today... is not that day.
Poor ranger. And it's such a fun character for roleplay.
I carried my team in a rim of the frost maiden as a drake warden Ranger. Was pulling somewhere around 40 damage an attack, and my team supported me with things like haste, and invisibility. It made it pretty easy for me to just sit back and get advantage on every attack with sharpshooter to dominate the field.
I'm so glad I found this channel through the Shorts section. Thank you for such fun content
Ah yes, my Dhampir Storm Sorcerer, Siegfried Amadeus Totenwald. Pretty sure the lowest stat I rolled for him was a +2, but being Level 1 he's still a single arrow away from negative hitpoints.
Every April Fool's Day complete one part of the Ranger, like one stat, make it look like you'll continue, and them just end the video.
Ranger will be 20s across the board. It took so long because he is the perfect man
You realize you're going to make the Ranger the BBEG at this point right? Gods forbid you turn him into a Gloom Stalker.
That beginning is going to be my group after we get back to our campaign after more than a year away…and 2/3 of us are roommates 😶
That's ironic, I'm about to make a wild magic sorcerer. I don't expect him to last long.
Finish Ranger! That's my fave class!!
Wild magic can lead to some seriously fun moments.
Bless you!
(For the sneeze)
Guess he will finish making Ranger next week.
Will the ranger be an adolescent dragonborn?
Two birds, one stone.
One of these days, Ranger is going to just Jump whoever is being made and kill them with some kind of broken combo in order to demand the spotlight by force.
I love being a wild magic sorcerer. I really love casting wild magic where something random happens a lot. I once turned into a cactus in the middle of battle and twice I summons a David Attenborough gnome who briefly narrated the battle in a documentary-like way. I electrocuted the giant we were fighting…and two of my party…but I chose people which high hit points! A paladin! They were fiiiiine 😅
And my characters background is he has begun to become curious about his wild magic after losing his memories if his childhood where he was taught yo always fear his wild magic. So now sometimes intentionally loosens his bides of chaos because he’s curious to see what will happen.
Ahh Wild Magic… The ruin of many a well laid plan! 😆
I play a Tabaxi Sorcerer called “Tsukyne” he has wild magic and the event that made him a sorcerer also cursed him with inverted colouration, but I can pick the colour of my spells which is pretty fun.
the fact that horace lavant sounds like horse washing in french is killing me inside
Poor Ranger. Please tell me you're going to make him an awesome character in payment for his patience and suffering.
I actually have a character, and Artificer, to be precise. Whose backstory actually involves dying.
Because a wild magic, Sorcerer had a cold, and when they sneezed, not far from his workshop it activated a barrel, full of 100 full beads of fireball necklaces he was making on the order.
Needless to say, there wasn’t even anything left to fill up a matchbox.
But thanks to a ring he found when he was young. He was reincarnated.
As a Goblin named Moss.
Oh are we uniting the Ranger Army in support? Cool let me get my musket.
to be fair, i made a wild magic sorcerer once and reached level 9 before retire it, and making sure of getting wild magic surges using chaos many times... and it save the character many many times. I exploded a few times... and almos die and knocked out a friend at level 4 but still was hell of fun. Plus he was a drunk satyr and when got the "alcohol dont afect you for a few weeks" one, he did very crazy things like lick a grung npc... loved that guy
In our campaign, one of our deadliest members is a ranger.
Please don’t tell me ranger is the new Dragonborn puberty where we will finally get a “video” on April 1st
Nothing better on session 1 than a fireball centered on self
I make a wizard. He has two weapons. Your standard dagger. And an enchanted bouncy rubber ball. All the the enchantment does is ensure that no matter what, the ball will return to its owner. So basically, imagine a wizard that does no fighting at all, he just hucks a rubber ball at his enemy, it bounces back, he catches it like a boomerang, with an echoing "THOK!" And to really style on his opponents, the wizard dribbles the ball between turns. It's the size of a softball, but the wizard has had years of experience, deftly dribbling the ball of returning.
I made a lvl 3 shadow sorcerer named "Astrid Argo"(or Ago?). She's a descendant of a hag, and the first in many generations to wield the innate magic.
She's a supernatural/magical investigator lol.
as a sorcerer this is scarily accurate.
I need to get the werehouse in to a state where I can confidently share it with the world. A Pathfinder prestige class designed to slot fairly comfortably on to most base classes, and suitable only for campaigns where getting weird is not merely an option but an obligation.
I feel kinda bad for Horace "Tragically Exploded" Levant, though.
Poor ranger almost had his big day... I guess he will have to try again next month
It's not like Wild Magic ever summoned a Tarrasque or something. Especially not while singing drunk in a karaoke session that inevitably leads to a spiral of chaos, death, destruction, and despair, right?
.
.
.
right?
Will we ever see something funnier than a well-executed explosion gag?
a sorceres whit +1 int... this gonna be a short adventure for this little guy
Don't worry Ranger
My DM told me that my Scout (we are playing 3.5) is useless, and yet he has saved the group twice now.
Please, oh please, give the Swarm Keeper Ranger some love.
Stick that Ranger with some fleas that won't be useful until he survives his first few levels. You know you want to.
One of my players has a dwarf ranger, got beast master to mount a giant goat, he uses scale mail, a shield and a mounted lance, he's the tank of the group, he's quite decent
1:28 "multivurse" ha, should have put some of that cha in int.
Playing a Thri-Kreen Swarm Keeper rn, Ranger supremacy ✊️
Wild magic sorcerers are not ticking time bombs!
"Ticking" implies there is some sort of warning.
We got to have an artificer one of these. It’s my favorite class
Ranger named Arizona, uses a siege crossbow made of iron.
ahh Ranger, the Waluigi of OSQ!
never gets old
Wild magic sorcerer is actually really fun, I got the max damage one and on my next turn cast fireball and exploded the enemy
Somethign Tells me that ranger doesnt have to wait for long. Soon my friend. One dnd will save you
