Luc Tuymans - In the face of suspicion

The work of Belgian artist Luc Tuymans (b. 1958) is often based on photographs. His oeuvre explores our relationship to history and also our apparent ability to ignore it. Director John Albert Jansen follows Tuymans as he sets up an exhibition in Venice and interviews him in his studio in Antwerp. Gradually it is revealed that the artist's fraught and hidden family history plays a role in his enigmatic work.
