Archer didn't exactly get away with it, but he did eventually reclaim his right to expound his opinions in front of the tv cameras (while his third-rate potboilers continued selling like hot-cakes). What a sharp contrast between Jeffrey Archer and Oscar Wilde. Both celebrities sued for libel in a desperate attempt to protect their public reputation; they gambled and lost, their private indiscretions were publicly exposed by the press and both eventually faced a criminal trial. Poor Oscar Wilde spent his final years a broken man in shameful exile while Archer has catapaulted himself back into the public eye. Archer is so glib he could keep talking under five feet of wet concrete. I still can't figure out why Archer never used his millions to buy a newspaper publishing business and join the hall of shame: Conrad Black, Rupert Murdock, Robert Maxwell, .etc. Mary Archer is an incredible enigma, a highly intelligent woman yet woefully lacking in certain critical faculties, someone who even risked a prison sentence to save a man who has perpetually cheated on her. Is it cognitive dissonance or masochism?

Wow. She's still married to him.
His books are tedious, am astonished you say you enjoyed them?
Surly this is just a joke for the podcast 😊
