Jeremy Bagshaw is an entrant in the 2022 Golden Globe Race, which has been dubbed a "voyage for madmen" due to the extreme isolation and weather conditions entrants face onboard 32 - 36 ft. full keeled sailboats. For eight months entrants race around the world without stopping, during which they are only allowed to use pre-1968 technology to communicate and navigate. In the first edition (1968) of the race, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston was the only person to finish. In the second edition (2018), 17 entrants started and five finished. If Jeremy successfully completes the race he will be the first South African to sail solo, non-stop around the world.

Jeremy, good luck with this huge adventure. You have a fantastic boat and coupled with your skills as a sailor, which you're so modest about, I have little doubt that you'll make us all proud.
I must also compliment Gerrit Louw on this interview. His understanding and knowledge of the subject matter ensures that his questions and discussions are always to the point and highly relevant. Thank you!
Good Luck to your adventure!! Will continue to follow you in GGR and the round-the-world tour! Very good to see how you care about "our boat" :-) All the best /Göran (me and my brother Sören was the previous owners in Sweden)
Some great ideas aboard and very strong rig set up. Very interesting video so thanks for sharing. Andy UK
All the best, looking good, and good luck.
Very interesting thanks Jeremy
Good luck
Best of luck, Jeremy. And thank you for the tour.
Wow! This must be Are Wiig’s old boat that got dismasted in the southern India Ocean during the last GGR?
Best wishes Jeremy.
Interesting to watch now as in real time he is about to get hit by the 2 biggest storms yet as he approaches Cape Horn.🤞🤞🤞
I hope he can stream warps ok with all those that gear bolted to the back
Cheers Warren
twin main sheet + large head sails, really interesting choices - you can see he is very well prepared. has he calculated a polar diagram on the sailboat in low winds? at loa/disp ratios , the OA32 is %20 lighter than the Rustler and it actually carries a bit more of sail. I think he's got a good chance if he manages to gather a team onshore that will pass along reliable weather reports (in my view, all due respect to VDH) is a key aspect of the race.
Yes, good points. Of course weather information reports are generally disallowed in the race, apart from those shared by passing vessels and fellow racers. But Mr. Bagshaw looks like a very serious contender indeed. Good luck to him! (Very jealous am I of his chronometer and barograph!)
@@nuttick They all have 'Weather Fax'.
Good luck Jeremy..
Nice seat and coffee holder he has made
Interesting
Camera - holder NEEDS some lessons!!
Nice! Do not waste another day - P-R-O-M-O-S-M!!!
